Stopped working after 6 months
- Pros: Affordable
- Cons: This unit stopped working on me after 5 months. Doesn't feel like a quality product.
- Other Thoughts: Go with the Vantec sata ide to usb 2.0 adapter.
wish i bought one sooner
- Pros: extremely convenient for testing or when upgrading
- Cons: ide drives don't always work but not sure if that's the devices fault
Works
- Pros: Tested on a SATA HDD. Plugged the HDD into the device, gave the device/HDD power, connected it to my PC via USB... Windows 7 detected it instantly and it functioned quickly. Exactly what I wanted.
- Cons: I must admit the plastic feels a little weak. One good misstep and this thing would crack like an egg, so be careful if it's going on the floor for even a few minutes! (That being said, the connections were all stable enough.)
- Other Thoughts: I didn't test either of the IDE/PATA connections, only SATA. I can see how it might get a little cramped when using those, but I can't really comment on it.
