Turn any IDE or SATA drive into a convenient external drive!

Simply connect one IDE/ATAPI or SATA-based mass storage device through a USB port to easily transfer files from a computer or laptop, backup files or store large file archives on an external hard drive.

The USB 2.0 interface enables easy installation with its plug-and-play design.

The adapter supports all existing IDE/ATAPI devices such as Iomega Zip, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM and IDE hard drives.

Compatible with current drive sizes on the market such as 1 and 2 TB SATA and 750 GB IDE drives.

Because this adapter can handle all sizes and types of mass storage drives, it's a great solution for recovering personal files from IDE or SATA drives from computers that have had motherboard failures.

Includes an integrated USB transceiver; supports USB Suspend/Resume and Remote Wakeup; and a 5 Volt (1 Ampere) power supply that supports both SATA power and standard 4-pin Molex (LP4) power connectors.

The on/off switch on the power supply lets you shut off an attached drive without having to disconnect when not in use.

Pros: This basic but efficient system for testing, formatting and repairing hard drives works so well that I purchased a second one to use at work.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Sometime the old adage of “keep it simple” works the best and this external hard drive interface proves it with an clever & elegant design for the interface and exceptional results. If you need a way to test a hard drive without taking your rig apart then this will do the job both for SATA and IDE.

2 out of 5 eggs8 months & change life span.

Pros: Worked well while it worked, very handy tool for on-site tech work.

Cons: I bought this adapter set from Newegg.com 4/25/2012 and it has worked great for what I need it to do until now. Anything I hook it up to doesn't work anymore. I believe the power adapter is still functional since when I plug it in a hard drive or optical drive I can hear the pallets move and can eject the optical drive. However, once I connect either the IDE or SATA cables to it and plug it into a usb2.0 port, I don't see any new drives on any machine I have running. This makes me believe that the actual usb2.0 to IDE/SATA adapter is faulty or just has a short life span.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well, so far, as described.

Used it on a 1TB Toshiba (SATA) and an older 80GB (IDE) no problems.

Cons: As to Neweggs wonderfully fast shipping time reputation, I'd have to type.... "not so fast". But, then again, I only forked over the $6.99 for Purolator ground shipping.

Ordered Nov. 26. Received Dec. 4th.

Other Thoughts: I will update the pros and cons, as I use the product.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Ordered Monday received Tuesday. Installed with-in minutes Tuesday evening and recovered pictures and documents, that I thought were lost forever, from the hard drive on my old computer that the operating system had failed in. Very useful equipment to have.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsReliable and simple.

Pros: Does what it says. I've retrieved data from an old laptop hard drive, and have had no issues. Incredibly simple to use. Definitely recommended if the need to recover data off an unused/spare/almost dead HDD ever arises.

Cons: None.
