Murphy Strikes Again - Fixed?

Pros: If the unit functions, it functions well. Very compact. Inexpensive.

Cons: No manual. No website information. Drive LED non-functional. Wrong cable supplied. I got a IDE to FDD converter instead a Y-IDE/FDD breakout. Most power supplies have a pigtail with two 4-pin Molex connectors and an FDD connector on the end. Since newer MBs do not have FDD support the connector should be available to power the adapter.

Other Thoughts: I found the problem with this unit. I had the same symptoms as KJ (10/30/09), all SATA ports taken down. I also got the system to boot occasionally, but it was extremely slow. These units are all tested in China and they probably work. When they do work, a metalized-mylar "QC passed" sticker is placed on the body of the main IC. This randomly couples pins of the IC capacitively. I removed the sticker from the IC and my unit has worked flawless since. Murphy strikes in China!

The HDD jumper position should be irrelevant, since there is no master/slave with SATA connections.

Pros: none.

Cons: This device doesn't work. When plugged into a SATA port on the mobo it causes the computer not to recognize any sata device plugged into the PC. Made changes in the BIOS, but no effect. I will be returning these.
