molex ends male or female?

Difficult to answer since molex is a weird hybrid. The pins are female, but the plastic connector is male. From Wikipedia AMP MATE-N-LOK 1-480424-0 Power Connector The connector that provides power (e.g., on a power supply) has female pins and a male housing; the connector that receives power (e.g., on a peripheral) has male pins and a female housing.

Could i take this adapter and connect i to a 8 pin adapter to go into my radeon 6970?

I don't know but suspect the answer is no. The purpose of this cable is to convert a serial ATA power connector from a newer power supply harness into an older style 4 pin molex power connector which would be used on older hard drives or optical drives.
