5 out of 5 eggsWorked flawlessly

Pros: Inexpensive, worked as intended

Cons: DHL mail shipping is slow

Other Thoughts: I used this with Samsung 840 SSD and their data migration software. 120GB was cloned quickly with no issues. Laptop booted right up.
I didn't pay attention to transfer speeds so not sure if max speed was achieved.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA out the package

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Cheap

Other Thoughts: Bought as a backup to other SATA adapters. I frequently use SATA adpters in the field when working on client systems. When this was needed, about 3 months after purchase, it would not work with any system or drives. The other SATA adapters worked just fine, just caused the job to take longer. At this price, not worth returning. Bummer

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great for moving HDD in laptop to SSD. USB 3.0 is a lot faster than 2.0

Cons: USB 3.0 cable is a little stiff but that's not really a big deal

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It simply works. It's small enough to fit in travel bag. Most of all, it was cheap. The USB 3.0 cable is separate, so you can use any USB 3.0 cable that you like. The driver instantly installed on my Windows 7 64bit machine. There is no extra software; it simply mounts the drive. The drive can be hot swapped. It worked well with the Marvell USB 3.0 controller on my motherboard.

Cons: There is no way to use an external power supply; therefore, it works only for 2.5" drives. I have not tried it on 3.5" drive, but USB 3.0 is only capable of about 4.5 W which is often too little for a full 3.5" drive. No reduction in eggs for this one because I needed it for my laptop's harddirve anyway.

Not really a con, but I wish the cable were more flexible. I suppose I could find another USB 3.0 cable if I really cared.

Other Thoughts: I would like to see if this adapter could drive a low powered 3.5" like Western Digital green drive. I'll report back if I get a change to try it.

2 out of 5 eggs1st time to be disappointed with KINGWIN

Pros: Inexpensive and does work -- KINDA, SORTA!

Cons: ONLY WORKS IN WINDOWS; HDDs CANNOT BE SEEN IN BIOS AND BE BOOTED FROM!!

Very often must be unplugged and then re-plugged in order to work and for sure if PC was rebooted with this adapter left plugged in. BUT it has worked each time--as long as it is unplugged and then re-plugged. ALSO I am having the same exact problems with a KINGWIN SEK-USB2 USB2.0 to SATA & E-SATA Adapter. This is the case for both adapters on several different PCs.

Other Thoughts: In the past I have been a fan of KINGWIN USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 2.5" HDD enclosures and have not experienced any problems. In fact, the other KINGWIN products I own have been dependable, problem free and even have some of the best transfer speeds of all the USB enclosures and adapters I own and use regularly.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome SATA to USB 3.0 Adapter

Pros: Plug and play. USB 3.0 is fast. Works perfectly.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My laptop died because beer was spilled on it by a dumb friend of mine. After letting the laptop dry out for a few days, it would finally turn on, but intermittently shut off without warning. As a result, I was unable to transfer everything off the HDD. So, I bought this and have successfully recovered all my previously unattainable files. Quick shipping as always - thank you Newegg!
