IDE to SATA adapter
- Pros: For me it was plug and play all the way. No setup involved, just the hook up.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Upgraded my SATA to a larger drive. My old MOBO was not able to support 2 non-RAID drives, so used this adapter to connect the old one to IDE for easy access to old files and extra storage. Works great.
works
- Pros: It works just fine. It's connected to a 1TB WD caviar black and the computer treats it exactly like it's a regular ide drive.
- Cons: none
Works as advertised, all OSes
- Pros: This is the simplest way to upgrade your aging computer with an IDE interface to the cheaper, faster SATA hard drives. It will work under all OSes, because it is pure hardware.
- Cons: You've got to watch clearances when you use a piggyback adapter like this one. I had to purchase an SATA extension cable to get it to work in my older Sony VAIO 32G. It is a little slower than using a RAID card, but it is almost imperceptable on this machine.
- Other Thoughts: Anything that gets my rather strange Linux box to work flawlessly gets my vote. Again, you need to watch your clearances and mounting in your chassis. There are places that will make a cable for you if you need it. It's still worth it to be able to use the newer style SATA drives.
