5 out of 5 eggsMistaken Review

Pros: This cable worked perfectly to connect an EVERCOOL 1225H12B-Y21 fan to the motherboard of a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop. It was simple to connect on both ends and held firmly. Great product if you need to use a 3rd party fan on an older Dell machine.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I mistakenly reviewed the case fan instead of this cable for this product listing the first go around, so please ignore it.

5 out of 5 eggsBlame Dell, not this product

Pros: Works fine if you need a way to convert the pin connections

Cons: May not be for a novice working on a Dell

Other Thoughts: What you need to understand is that Dell uses a proprietary circuitry in their fans so that you either have to buy used or pay through the nose for one of their approved fans new. Another fan might work but you're going to get the bios error. If you can live with that boot up error then this converter will let you save a few bucks on a new 3rd party case fan. Otherwise just find a tested used fan. Also don't forget that to get to the fan you probably had to break contact between the CPU & heatsink so you might want to re-grease your CPU with a non-permanant grease while you're in there.

3 out of 5 eggsnot the connector i was looking for

Pros: Needed a 5 pin to get rid of that stupid 'F2 error message' from aftermarket cooling fans on my Dell XPS 410...looks like I needed more than just this adapter.

Cons: oh well...do alot of research before investing in this.

5 out of 5 eggsWork's Great

Pros: Works as advertised.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I was reluctant to buy this due to the reviews that say it doesn't work, but I needed one so I went for it anyway. This worked great in allowing me to attach a Rosewill fan to my Dell Dimension 4600 Motherboard. I didn't need any extra adapters or wire splicing or anything. Plugged it into both items and it worked immediately.

5 out of 5 eggsPay attention

Pros: Ok you actually have to buy two adapters. The 4 pin to three pin that go from the PW Supply to these that do go into the motherboard.

Cons: None if oyu pay attention.

Other Thoughts: Stop giving things bad reviews if you did something dumb like I did and not pay attention. Maybe better pics or a big sign for The Eggy saying DOES NOT CONNECT FROM POWER SUPPLY TO MOTHERBOARD.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT DELL COMPATIBLE!

Pros: This adapter has the correct Dell mini 3 pin connector.

Cons: BEWARE

Instead of rewiring the Dell connector side of this adapter to match the Dell system, this connector is a simple pass-through cable from the 3 pin regular white power connector. I had to cut and resplice all 3 wires in the correct order so that the fan would work and match Dell's wiring configuration. While the actual black dell 3 pin connector is correct, the order of wiring in the connector is not! (Dell re-arranges the cables in their power connectors) I bought 2 adapters and both are the same, so this is not a fluke.

Other Thoughts: If I were just paying for a 3 pin dell connector, I would not have purchased this entire adapter. The entire point of an "adapter" is to adapt one device to another!

4 out of 5 eggsStill gets BIOS Error

Pros: It does what it is supposed to do physically--meaning it can plug into the proprietary Dell motherboard without issue.

Cons: Despite disabling the F2 notice on the BIOS, there is still the "fan error" message.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it does what it's supposed to do. Fit my need for an old Dell computer.
