5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a Charm

Pros: Works great... I ordered this for my dad so he could connect his old GPS unit up to his new computer. It required a serial port connection and most new computers don't include those anymore.

Cons: None what so ever...

Other Thoughts: If your still hanging on to some older devices that connect via a serial port to your computer and have a newer system without serial ports.. This is the device for you...

5 out of 5 eggsYeah works!

Pros: 1 - Works, which is really a compliment dealing with these unusual, cheap adaptors.
2 - Works under Linux, which is much more of a compliment given the despise of manufacturers with this OS.

Cons: Somewhat expensive for this kind of device. I wish it was cheaper.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace the PROLIFIC PL2303 adapter that came with my TENTEC RX-320D radio receiver.
Unlike the previous, which I could not make work with fldigi, gtkterm or any other modem software, this one just worked, period.

5 out of 5 eggsFINALLY, A WORKING ONE!!!!

Pros: Recognized right away, used included mini-disk for driver installation, worked like a charm. OS is vista 64-bit, use this to console on cisco router and switches.

Cons: Blinding blue light - so I covered with black tape. Solved!

Other Thoughts: Buy this one, do NOT buy the cheap ones (less than $10), you'll get junk not even worth a penny. So get this one to add a serial line to your PC/laptop. Very fast shipment, THANK YOU, Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does exactly what it is supposed to.

Cons: There is a blue LED that indicates an active connection, which is awesome, but it can be very bright and distracting in low-light situations.

4 out of 5 eggsHardware Flexible

Pros: I have a couple USB to serial adapters this one gives you more control options in your comm port properties than others do (i.e. Block Size). I am running this from XP machines so can't speak for Win7.
Those of you that connect to OLD machines and especially who work in industry will appreciate this.

Cons: Well the Screws are wrong for most connections but nothing you can't mostly fix with a couple spare nuts.
The light is bright (someone else mentioned this) I covered it with electrical tape.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to connect to a 1994 CNC machine running Burny 2.8 Controls that downloads from an old 486 Dos machine. Want to get this on an XP machine but most everything serial is just too blazing fast for this old machine hence I need block control... and have to run it at 1200baud (note that is 1.2k).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent. Works with Windows 7

Pros: Works with my Diablosport Tuner. The one that came with it didnt work in Windows 7. This cable works perfect. Plug and Play. Max data transfer rate. LED light lets you know its working. Comes with extension cable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you need a reliable Serial to USB adapter, this is the one to get.

4 out of 5 eggsOnly one complaint

Pros: Works fine.

Cons: Mini CD a pain for people with slotted CD inputs.

Other Thoughts: The driver really isn't necessary for Windows 7 users. However configuration can be tricky if you need a specific com port. To access the users manual I had to find a PC with a CD tray (my laptop has a CD slot). A minor issue but a pet peeve of mine. Some adapters require running proprietary software for setup. This once can be configured via the device manager.

5 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: Works on XP & 7.
Longer than my other ones which is nice

Cons: Bright blue LED is unnecessary and a trend in electronics I also dislike.
