4 out of 5 eggsHighly useful

Pros: Turns practically any hard drive into a USB drive. Think of the possibilities.

Cons: As others have mentioned, the molex power leads can be loose. I bought two of these, and one of them has this problem. I deal with it by pulling on the power cable as I'm plugging it in; this stiffens the contacts momentarily. Still, you shouldn't have to do that, so minus an egg.

Other Thoughts: Look at the price. Is that what you're willing to pay in order to pull data off any loose hard drive? I know I am.

1 out of 5 eggsMultiple problems

Pros: Works with SATA Blue-Ray drive. Haven't tried burning yet. Also works with SATA hard drive.

Cons: AC power cord was bad. (I have been in the industry for years and that is a first for me. I checked it with a multimeter.) I had one laying around.

Didn't try it with IDE drive untill I had had it for a few months. Drives won't spin up with the IDE cable plugged in. I guess I have a SATA to USB adapter.

As one reviewer pointed out, you have to fiddle with the power plug to get the pins to line up to plug it in to the SATA power adapter cable.

After 10 minutes of running a 7200 rpm hard drive, the power brick starts getting quite hot.

Other Thoughts: Sketchy quality. Sounds like a gamble. If you are lucky you get a good one.

3 out of 5 eggsJust think about it

Pros: When the power adapter was working properly, it works beautifully.

Cons: I had to play around with the position of the power cable that connected to the power adapter in order to make it stay on. I record gameplay both from PC and console, so if the power adapter gets finicky and doesn't want to turn on, it gets very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: The reason I gave it 3 eggs is because when it did work, it was great, but it only worked so much of the time due to the power adapters connection to the actual power cord. On top of it being real fickle, because of the connection, it shorted out a few days ago and melted the power adapter and the power cable, plus corroded the adapters connectors and is currently unusable. I'm not sure if I got the bad one in the bunch or if this is a recurring issue.

4 out of 5 eggsNothing Special, but works well

Pros: It works quickly and well, no special software. It powers old 2.5" IDE laptop drives without the power adapter at all, just off the USB, so that's great. It's faster and easier to work with than the old external enclosures I was using, and it's just a good, simple solution for backup and recovery.

Cons: There's no cable, you plug the little adapter block directly into your drive, except for the SATA, that has a cable, which is included. But IDE drives are just plugged directly in, and it doesn't feel that sturdy. Hasn't given me any problems, but it's awkward and flimsy.

Other Thoughts: So long as the connectors on my drives and this little thing hold out (although I'm not sure how long they will) it's a fine solution to turn old but still operational drives into backups or archival drives.

1 out of 5 eggsPoorly fitting parts

Pros: This seems to work with a 1.5 terabyte drive.

Cons: Power supply plug needs to be pushed in hard to power brick or it will fall out. The hard drive power adapter has loose pins and you have to play with it to get it to join the power wire from the power brick.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: None

Cons: Went to plug in my HDD to the Molex power adapter and after a few seconds the unthinkable happened, my HDD started to smoke and a burning plastic smell filled the room. I lost all of my data and my HDD is dead.

Other Thoughts: What ever you do don't buy this.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very small and didn't take up much space

Cons: Very fragile, had to sometimes move the cables around in order for my computer to read the cable and HDD, just wish it was a little more sturdy because my is now broken...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: I use these in my computer repair business. The price is low enough that I give them to my customers when we replace an old computer and they want to connect up their old drive to retreive data that they thought they did not need anymore :) .

Cons: Some drivew do not play as nice as others. I've had this issue with various brands of similar devices.
