4 out of 5 eggsFor siverlight/netflix playback problems

Pros: For the Netflix/Silverlight stutter problem, Silverlight has a problem properlyadjusting to AMD 350 processors. What oyu do is this:
Silverlight/netflix
...Other Thoughts: Silverlight has a major bug that prevents it from working properly with AMD E350 cpus. It is not a problem with the CPU itself.

You have to press shift-ctrl and right click on the silverlight screen. An options menu will appear. Change the buffer size to the lowest number (I believe it is like 250 or something). The default is something like 2000. If you're slow, and it builds up to that level, it can take up to a minute to work. I forget if you have to have the player running or on pause. But it did fix the problem with my other AMD 350 setup. Smooth playing now.

Cons: I cannot say, this is for silverlight

3 out of 5 eggsNice little board but not for Netflix

Pros: Small board; support USB 3.0; HDMI; Play Youtube and movies smoothly; very quiet except on boot up; little heat; Good for min server and internet browsing.

Cons: No DVI connection (should replace VGA with DVI connector); under powder; took me 2.5 hrs to upgrade all the Window 7 upgrades on fresh install; Take up to 30 seconds to execute some application.. Not used to this kind of delay...

Other Thoughts: I am trying to build a very small HTPC with main focus on streaming movies from Netflix and other internet sites. Install with Window 7 with 8gig memory and a laptop hard drive goes smoothly. The driver CD-ROM it got is bad, so I have to download all driver from manufacture website.
I used to have application execute fast within a few seconds when clicking on an app, when it tooks up to 30 seconds for this board to execute an app I was kind of annoy of the waiting time. It will take 2.5 hrs jut to completely upgrade the Window 7 upgrades from fresh install. This usually take me around an hour for my regular desktop. The CPU speed on this baby is kind of slow for any CPU intense application.
I was able to play YouTube and standard movie smoothly on this board, but have lagging issue with Netflix.
When playing Netflix at first every thing ok, but as time goes by the video and audio goes out of sync. The video would lag behind the audio portion. I thought the issue is due to video and audio driver, so I remove and re-installed both, but problem still there. After some research online, found that issue is relate to Netflix streaming is very CPU intensive and the CPU on this board just can't handle it.
Overall, it a great board for anything that is not CPU intensive like mini server and internet browsing.. YouTube and movies play smoothing...

5 out of 5 eggsVery quiet

Pros: - Heatsink and fan are small but quiet
- Many USB ports
- BIOS has a lot of options
- Boots Ubuntu flawlessly from USB
- Runs FreeNAS out of the box (from HD)
- Runs cool

Cons: - No DVI output. My spare monitor has SVGA though, so I could work around that
- Only three SATA

Other Thoughts: In the BIOS, I disabled PSS Support per other suggestions. Also set the fan profile to "quiet," and it runs like a whisper in ubuntu and freeNAS. The bundled RAM works fine by the way. 8)

I built a freeNAS box with an Antec ISK 110 case from eb4y (the only place it's available), the bundled 2x4GB RAM, and Hitachi 1TB and Intel 32GB SATA disks. I booted Ubuntu on a USB stick, and from there downloaded the FreeNAS img.gz image. Using dd, I wrote the img to the SSD, and rebooted right into FreeNAS. Excellent setup, and total outlay was about $240.

4 out of 5 eggsHome Server MB

Pros: Small size, USB 3, 16GB memory, SATA 6, quiet, and low power draw

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Nice little board running WHS 2011, media, and minecraft server. I got as part of a shell shocker combo with 500gb sata 6 drive, mini ITX case, and 4gb ram but I upgraded to 8. Runs everything no issues and using the USB 3 for external raid storage.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little board for XBMCbuntu

Pros: Cheap, small form factor

Cons: 1st one I received would reboot after a few seconds of loading, tried everything to make it work, second one worked great with XBMCbuntu 11.

Other Thoughts: Disable 'PSS Support' & it works great with XBMCbuntu 11, tried 12 but for some reason wouldn't boot after install, I read about others having problems with that version of XBMCbuntu with other machines so I believe it is unrelated to this board, I just installed the older version & was happy.

2 out of 5 eggsnot fully satisfied

Pros: Small, low power, fairly functional, once it works.

Decent video quality from IGP playing most HD programs.

Boots fast, so works well for HTPC.

Cons: Initial problems with hardware resets, required sending back to Biostar for replacement.

Never received rebate, even after many emails, which were unanswered.

Other Thoughts: Like many others, my board started to reset after about 5 minutes of starting Windows 8. It seemed to be related to the USB ports, as it reset more when I had my USB DVD drive plugged in. It did not run long enough to allow me to install the board drivers from their CD.

I thought it was just with W8, as I had WXP installed and running long enough to upgrade the BIOS and install a bunch of stuff, and CentOS 6.3 x86_64 installed and ran with no problem. Then it started to reset with CentOS as well, so it's looking like a hardware problem that was getting worse.

Running memtest86+-4.10 found no problems with any of the RAM sticks I tired. I also tried different power supplies, with the same results.

The problems started showing up after the 30 day window, so I had to send it back to Biostar. They replaced it with another board, which seems to be working so far (about a week).

So with the cost of shipping a new board back, and the MIA rebate, the board ended up costing $75 instead of the $60 it should have.

4 out of 5 eggsBiostar NEVER pays up on rebates !!!

Pros: Board works fine and runs cool provided you don't over crowd the case or have a case that you can move air through.

Cons: Runs hotter than the ASUS E35M1-I .

Other Thoughts: Biostar NEVER, EVER pays up on rebates! You have to hound them contantly to get one so keep that in mind before you buy their products. They even told me the ONLY check signer is in Asia and won't be back for some time...

2 out of 5 eggsRandom Reboot

Pros: 6GB/s speed SATA, 1000 speed Lan, Low power consumption
HDMI output
Newegg should take a 5 EGG of the 5 star service.

Cons: motherboard don't run stable, auto random reboot during use in normal temp whatever using Win7 or XP. After reboot won't detect any HDD.

Other Thoughts: I have updated bios, change some bios setting from SATA option to IDE or AHCI, but it won't help.

5 out of 5 eggsdoes it's job well

Pros: It's stable, reasonably fast and reliable so far. I bought this to run a small storage server and it's done the job quite well.

Cons: none as of right now

Other Thoughts: It's not a barn burner, but it gets the job done and the integrated graphics suit my needs
