5 out of 5 eggsGreat little board

Pros: This board has everything I wanted on it for my Ubuntu Server Install. It runs pretty quiet, and the install went smooth.

Cons: Nothing that I can think of

Other Thoughts: Bought this board and 512MB of RAM and everything has been going fine. For $25 this was a steal!

5 out of 5 eggsknew what to expect, made out happy

Pros: very pleased with overall quality and performance of the board. I bought this together with 1gb of 266 ram and am quite pleased with it's speed, even with a 5400 rpm/ 512 cache system drive it boots XP pretty fast and opens folders faster. I wonder how it would be with 2gb ram and a 7800 rpm system drive...

Perfect small low power consumption PC solution. This board is going into an automotive application and seems well built enough to take on the task with ease. Runs quiet and trouble free for me. Will be buying another, would make a great PC for younger kids.

Cons: could use a 3rd PCI slot instead of the useless to me CNR riser slot. Manual needs work- the diagram for the front panel control header is a bit confusing being that only pin 1 is labeled. The pins go bottom row: 1,3,5,7,9 top row 2,4,6,8

other than that there is not much else I can complain about,

Other Thoughts: I read the other reviews and understood what I was getting. If you are in the market for a new motherboard and have basic computing needs like internet, email, home networking etc this is a good choice.

3 out of 5 eggsalright for the price

Pros: worked coming out of the box. No problems loading windows xp. Was not as noisy as some reported and it does what I needed a cheap board to do. Haven't had any problems in a few months.

Cons: Not real fast but what do you expect for the cost. Definetly could use a better graphics chip but its alright.

Other Thoughts: If you are expecting anything better than an average board spend more money. This things does what it says it will do and I've bought two without any malfunctions so far. Buying another one too.

2 out of 5 eggsBetter off with my K5

Pros: Low price, decent functionality, tiny size. Can run OpenSuSE 11.0, Puppy Linux, and Ubuntu 8.04, albeit somewhat slowly.

Cons: 1) Doesn't boot off a USB stick, no matter HOW it's formatted.
2) Draws more power than an old 500MHz AMD Socket 7 motherboard.
3) Slower than the aforementioned processor most of the time.
4) Tiny heatsink + noisy fan, makes it useless for livingroom use.
5) Something quirky in the processor/board means that some Linux installations [distributions] may not go as smoothly as in many other PCs.

Other Thoughts: I bought this so that I could build a low-powered (possibly running on a solar panel) server. I wanted to boot off a USB stick so that the only HD was the one serving files, which could power down when not in use. I also wanted it to be the basis for my firewall/router and print server with the addition of an extra ethernet card. Slow speed and lack of USB-boot destines this for the trash heap... or worse, a Windows installation. I'll go back to the older board.

3 out of 5 eggsAll right

Pros: Flex ATX, dirt cheap, perfect for a server.

Cons: Awful onboard graphics, super slow processor (think 700 mhz) No expansion room. So slow that you can't stream video from youtube or hulu. Think 15 second page loading times.

Other Thoughts: Part of a $200 ubuntu build. However, I've upgraded and plan to repurpose this into a FreeNas system, which should be perfect for it.

3 out of 5 eggsjust clearing the SN problem

Pros: there is a serial number on the top of the printer/serial ports.. listed is the mac:address, then the serial number of the board

Cons: none yet, just making sure people know there is no problem with missing serial numbers

Other Thoughts: looks nice,, I'm sure its not going to be a media center or anything, I'm hoping to get it to run some emulators

4 out of 5 eggsgood board

Pros: fast start with windows xp home and pro edition supports 2gb's of memory came accross some mobo's that support less other pro's has cobra sound for the onboard audio , the fan isn't loud on the cpu barely hear the 2 systems i built running.other pro's fits into mose cases very easy

Cons: no agp or pci-x slot for the upgraded graphics limited to pci not con on the board but for newegg and rebate department doesn't know where serial number is , but i found it the barcode below where it has serial it has like eac or something like that but got it

Other Thoughts: I had my own computer business from 2001 to 2007 and this is far better then the intel processors that you can compair to. If you want this for a basic computer buy it, if you want gamming buy an amd 64bit processor , phenom or opteron

4 out of 5 eggsLimited, but okay for certain uses...

Pros: Low power usage, good compatibility with Linux, myriad boot options (see cons), will be really inexpensive if I get my rebate (see cons), great for reusing legacy components like DDR 266 memory and that old 4.5GB hard drive you have laying around. Likely to be more reliable than a used and abused old PII or PIII rig for FreeNAS.

Cons: Despite all the boot options which include two ways to boot from a USB hard drive, this board will not boot from a USB memory stick unless it is formatted to be recognized as a floppy. Boots from USB floppy, USB CD-ROM, or from a network perfectly well. As mentioned by another customer, the rebate requires a serial number that doesn't seem to exist. The fans run at full speed all the time! I tried to clear the BIOS and see if that fixed it. The fans went to half speed until I rebooted and then it was back to tornado country. The C3 processor is underpowered for a lot of tasks. Just copying a large file to my FreeNAS setup had the CPU running at 97%, and thats at a transfer rate of about 6.5MB/sec! Forget Gigabit!

Other Thoughts: For a FreeNAS box, this will work fine, although the fact that it is loud because of the fans is a pain... I'll have to tweak things a bit to fix that. You'll need hardware RAID if you want to run FreeNAS with RAID. The CPU won't handle FreeNAS's software RAID.

4 out of 5 eggsnot bad... if you know what you're buying

Pros: Inexpensive board (if the rebate comes in), which will operates beautifully under certain circumstances and using old hardware. Used it for a geexbox system, which it runs quickly and effectively, all hardware was recognized immediately. No incompatibilities with any form of linux (as opposed to the intel sis662 boards)

Cons: The rebate required a serial number, which simply was not present on the board. I instead wrote down every number I could find, but I still doubt I'll get the rebate. For full price, I could have almost had a better little-valley board. Loads Ubuntu/Mint Lite slow, but will run it.

Other Thoughts: Still a neat all-in-one board. Built it into an old (1956) standing radio with an old LCD monitor and a nice pair of speakers for Mp3's and internet radio.
