1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work

Pros: None

Cons: Does not work with Alienware 18 Mini Display port. Dual GTX860M and will only see a single monitor, occasionally. Using two Asus DVI monitors with active display port to DVI adapters. Avoid this product unless you know someone who has some working gear you can test with.

Other Thoughts: May work fine if I had multiple actual display port monitors but I can't chance buying new monitors just to test on a theory.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Thomas S,
I can confirm that this product does work with most configurations, but if you are having a problem it is possible there may be an issue detecting the monitors signal through your adapters. Please contact our 24 hour technical support at 1-888-881-3842 option 1 or by email at Newegg@evga.com as we are here to help you with troubleshooting and if necessary warranty support.
Sincerely,
EVGA Customer Support

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn;t work with Alienware 18 Laptop

Pros: Doesn;t work so none

Cons: Does not work with Alienware 18's Display Port. They came on briefly then refuse to display anymore. Do not buy. Dual GTX860M's in my system, attempted several cables and with/without SLI enabled. Either the the Nvidia card is bogus or this thing is, you decide.

5 out of 5 eggswonderful product

Pros: works flawlessly for the eyefinity display set up, has external lights for troubleshooting, comes with a beefy DP cable, not just a "pig tail" that is hard wired in. MUCH better choice then the Club3D, which had monitors coming on and off, and eventually had a port fail after a few months. This product has been running strong for over a month without any fails.

Cons: none, I wish I found this before the Club3D...

Other Thoughts: This product is for a monitor array, not just multiple monitors. being familiar with the AMD software I will say this makes setting up a mufti-screen display easier to accomplish by expanding your DP to 3 monitors and your final two can be connected by a "legacy" connection in accordance with the eyefinity protocols. Did I mention this is WAY better then the Club3D... no issues as of yet...

2 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible

Pros: Nice design, cool concept.

Cons: Doesn't seem to be compatible with most setups.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to setup multiple DP monitors on my Alienware which has a DP++ port and a Geforce GTX 660M. Tried windows 7, 8.1, and Linux. On all windows regardless of the driver, it wouldn't display anything on any of the DP monitors. It would mainly lock up until I unplugged it. In linux, it at least showed the screen, but was unable to seperate them into different displays. Basically just two or three of the same screen. Drivers didn't help.

After all this I tried a different laptop I have U230 Lenovo Twist with DP++. With Windows 8.1, it did showed the mirrored screens again with no separation options. Then tried a different model of monitor, no change.

Basically, if you get it to work, I'm sure it would be great. For me, it didn't work with too many different configurations, so just not practical.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great concept.

Cons: I could not get this hub to work with 3 24" DisplayPort monitors (1920x1200) on my system that is using the Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H MB on board graphics adapter. EVGA support said it should work, but could not verify this for certain as it was formally tested. I returned the hub for a refund.

Also there is no helpful user manual either supplied with the package or online in softcopy. I had to contact support to get my questions answered because the configuration schematic was not clear to me. A call to support did prove helpful.

Other Thoughts: I hope others find this review helpful.

Manufacturer Response:

Good day Andrew B,
I so apologize for you not being able to get your Display port hub to work. This hub is used as a pass-through and is limited to the CPU integrated graphics or your dedicated video card. Using a Haswell processor shouldn’t have any issues at this resolution with three monitors. However if you were using a dedicated video card with a limit of two monitors support this could be the issue. Please do not hesitate to contact us 24/7 for any EVGA product. We are available at 888.881.3842 option 1 or newegg@evga.com.
Sincerely,
EVGA

5 out of 5 eggsWorks flawlessly

Pros: After a bad club3d dp hub I wanted to still have the ability to run 3 monitors from one port. This hub verified the fact that the club3d hub was defective. Compared to the club3d this hub does not drop screens or introduce screen noise. DVI is not an analog signal and so passive DP to DVI will work with this hub...I have tried it. I have also tried DP to VGA passive/active and the passive does not work. I can also confirm passive DP to HDMI works with this hub. Every now and then one of my screens will not come on with a cold boot but a press of the scan button brings it right back up and it stays up for the entire time. I just purchased a second hub to run another set of 3 monitors for 6 total. Running multiple monitors through the hub also brought my graphics card temps down at idle and even lower when using all 3 monitors at one time. IMO it is worth the money over the club3d hub. Get it while you can.

Cons: It is always on. It has a dedicated power source but it doesn't have a sensing option to shut off the status lights or the hub itself if there is no display signal being sent to it. It has to be manually shut off. Luckily I use a belkin power strip with a desktop button to shut it off but it would be great if it had some kind of sensing option.

Other Thoughts: Money well spent. It works with no hassles and gives you the option to re-scan your monitors if the need arises. Club3d required a restart of your whole system, this one does not.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product - Minute detail left out

Pros: Solid construction, gives you a DP plug to get you started, tight packaging, driver-less compatibility.

Cons: Newbies need to research a little bit ahead of purchases.

Other Thoughts: This is my first venture into getting a multi-display hub and I trust EVGA's quality when it comes to components. However, I should have done a bit more research that I want to share with others:

If you want to connect this hub to analog connectors, such as DVI or VGA, you must get ACTIVE adapters and not PASSIVE adapters. Active adapters do conversion from digital to analogue whilst passive ones do not. Safe way to shop for this is if it doesn't have active in the label, it's passive.
