...with internal header!
- Pros: I have a case with a front panel 1394 port, but I have a less sophisticated MB with no 1394 header. This card has an internal header! Quick recognition by Win.7 32bit Home Premium, no other drivers needed.
- Cons: Only one external port.
- Other Thoughts: The internal header is what I needed. I don't care that it only has one external port. My other desktop has four external ports and I only ever have one device connected anyway.
firewire
- Pros: vista ready
- Cons: wasn't said
- Other Thoughts: low reference
Didn't work on mac
- Pros: Well, I thought it was a good product idea. I needed an internal header for a 3.5 front bay replacement that had a 9 pin (actually, I think they are called 10 pin or 2x5 and one pin is missing for orientation). Really I didn't need the extra external port, but whatever.
- Cons: It does not get recognized by my mac G4 AGP running 10.4.11, so I can't use it.
- Other Thoughts: Well, I'm on a mac g4 AGP (the blueish one with the speaker in the front) running 10.4.11 and I wanted to replace the zip drive with something actually useful. I bought an internal card reader thing and needed an internal 9 pin header, well, it would not get recognized by my mac (checked "about this mac" and it didn't ever come up). I read that the card was finickey and might work on a different port, but because the internal header is facing perpendicular to the card, I can only put it in one spot (I have two graphics cards in there so I have no more space). I am bummed. The MoBo in the G4 doesn't have an internal header, just an internal firewire port. Not sure what I am going to do next. It was cheap anyway. Oh, and so I was going to return it to NewEgg so I requested an RMA and they credited my account and told me to keep the card. I Guess restocking fee is not worth the price ofthe card. Yay NewEgg. Excellent customer service.

Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer, Thank you for purchasing our products. Please verify if your internal card reader requires a USB 9-pin header or Firewire 9-pin header. If you have a USB internal card reader, it does not work with the internal Firewire header on this card. We try to provide the most reliable products to our customer and all our products come with at least 3 years warranty. Please don't hesitate to contact us at support-us@syba.com for replacement or if you have any question. Regards, Syba Customer Service 1029
