5 out of 5 eggsWorks fantastically

Pros: Fast, works as expected. PCI-E x4 bandwidth is much better than most of the cards out there.

Cons: Requires a 4-pin molex connector to function, whether you're going to hook up externally-powered devices or not. Kinda wish this had been optional but I still got it hooked up. No internal-facing USB port.

Other Thoughts: This is an x4 card. It will need a larger PCI-E slot than the very narrow x1 slots you usually see. Look at your motherboard to make sure you have this. You may have to put it in one of those long x16 slots designed for video cards. My machine happened to have an x8 so it uses half that slot happily.
As other reviewers have noted, it requires the 4-pin molex connector to function. Period. Don't get this and complain later you didn't have a spare connector on your power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsCheck your pci-slot limits and power

Pros: adds much needed 4 extra usb 3.0 slots

Cons: If you already have other cards that need speed, can limit your speeds. For example if you have high quality video cards, your will have to reduce you video card quality. This card requires at least 4x PCI-express to work, which is why it will limit the speeds of your other slots. If I had known this I would not have purchased this card. IN ADDITION, if you already have two cards that use the two power sources, then you will have to split the power source AND get an adapter (since the power connector is different) in order to use this card. Kind of a pain.

1 out of 5 eggsdidn't work

Pros: none

Cons: didn't work on Mac running OS 10.8 after several attempts.

1 out of 5 eggsMUST have external power!!

Pros: Fast transfer, 4 USB ports

Cons: MUST have external power to work!
NO connector for power included
Molex power connector- What is this 1990?
Awkward angle for power connector (bad design)
Poor documentation

Other Thoughts: I was VERY disappointed in this card. Nothing in the 4” x 5” 1 page instructions even talks about hooking up a power supply for this card. Sure it has a Molex connector on it, but NOTHING in the instructions says you need to do anything with it.

After installing it you of course have to install the drivers. Normally, this is no big issue since they include a mini CD with drivers. However, there are tons of sub-folders on the CD with no clear labeling and the directory path they give is incorrect and doesn’t even exist! So after spending 5 minutes finding the drivers it installed and said it was working on my Windows 7 64 bit machine.

Upon plugging in the first USB drive I got nothing…. Next, nothing, everything I tried USB, did not work. So reseat the card, check drivers, and then email support and wait….. (3 days!!!) It turns out to use ANYTHING with this card you MUST apply power to the card.

This is hampered by 2 glaring issues:
1) There is NO power connector included.
2) Most pc’s now have all SATA power connectors (good luck finding a female Molex to SATA splitter!)

At the price of the card, they should include the cable with the card especially since it is REQUIRED! It is the same as selling a car without tires. The worst part was almost all places sell is Molex adapter, which you have to pair with a splitter unless you have tons of power connections. I had to buy these:

This MIGHT have worked if I had a 12 inch wide case!! However, since the power connector is on the top of the card, once you stack the converter and the splitter it makes it too big for you to close a normal case. The power should be on the back part of the card and be SATA.

So even after spending another $12 on the above cables with shipping, I had to make my own!! The adapter on the female Molex connector was too loose and it kept falling off. However, that didn’t totally matter since because of the extra 4 inches this contraption added to the top of the card I could not close my case.

Once installed, you’ve located the hidden driver files, you’ve fabricated a cable out of parts, and you’ve winged it with the pathetic instructions, it’s a decent card and has good speed. However, the lack of decent documentation and lack of power connector, when it is a required part, is unforgivable.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Our engineers will look into this matter. If it is a problem with our production design, we will improve it.

Majority of power supplies come with both molex and SATA power feed cables so manufacturer did not include an adapter cable. We will look into adding an adapter in the future if this is a big issue.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback. We value all positive and negative feedback.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great in Mac Pro

Pros: Works with Mac
Mt. Lion drivers
4 ports
x4 PCIe
Very Fast

Cons: Requires a power connection for any device to work.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure this card was going to work after I plugged it into a Mac Pro, loaded the current driver and no devices (self or bus powered) were recognized by the OS. I thought I'd take a change and purchased a StarTech Model LP4SATAFM2L power adapter. I plugged one end into a spare SATA power port and the other into the USB card. After the card had power, all devices were recognized.
The card is very fast. A WD My Passport was getting 108 MBps write and 111MBps read.

Minus 1 star since there was no documentation stating power was a requirement.
