Question 1

Is this compatible with KVM switches? I tried PS/2 to USB witch does not work, and the dual ps/2 with adapter on motherboard does not work either, so is this the same or will it work as a normal onboard "oldschool" ps/2?

I am using this unit on one of my computers with two daisy chained, 4 port, PS/2, KVM units attached to 5 other computers.  You have to have a spare PCI slot inside the computer.  Window will automatically install the correct driver for this unit.  Also, since this unit only becomes alive after the Windows OS is loaded, if you need to access the BIOS at boot up, you will need to temporarily plug in a USB based keyboard to this specific computer.  As a PS/2 keyboard plugged into this unit will not be seen until the Windows OS is loaded in.

Question 2

Does this require a driver install? or is is plug and play.

Definitely plug and play under Win 7 & 8 without driver install (probably XP, too).  Only gotcha is that you may have to use a USB keyboard to invoke pre-boot options (BIOS, startup selection, etc.), as the device only works AFTER you get into Windows.

Hi, my PS2 ports stopped working on my old PC, the keyboard is good and the mouse,   if I install this card  can it work in dos Before it gets into windows so that I can access the bios ?

I don't know for sure on that.  I installed this one a Dell Optiplex that didn't natively support PS/2 and it ONLY works after getting into Windows (needed PS/2 for an older KVM setup).  I have to use a USB keyboard to get into the BIOS on those rare occasions that I need to.

A bigger question might be why your PS/2 ports failed.  I'd be worried that there may be a bigger problem in the offing on the motherboard.  My $0.02...
