SIIG JU-P20412-S2 PCI Express to 2-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Card

Pros: Works for me on Linux, had a lot worse luck with USB 3.0 chips from other vendors than NEC.

Cons: Odd to use a floppy power connector. That will limit most people to at most
one of these cards in a system.

Other Thoughts: Will always be slower than a motherboard mounted USB 3.0, but can't blame the card for that.

Pros: Works well, inexpensive, SIIG Quality

Other Thoughts: Neweggs service is beyond great. I ordered this product yesterday on 10-03-11 @ 4:15 pm and it is now 10-04-11 @ 3:27 pm and the card is in and running. It was actually delivered 2 hours ago !less then 24 hrs !

Pros: Gives you the ability to use 3.0 USB devices.. .. For now, you can benefit from more products with an add-on card.

Cons: The speed isn't up to par with eSATA just yet, but it will be given time.

Other Thoughts: I have no issues with this card after almost a year of use.

Pros: Hardware fit without issue. Works. Has two external USB 3 ports.

Cons: When my USB hard drive is connected and turned on, booting Win XP 32 takes forever.

Other Thoughts: If I turn off the hard drive for boot up, I can turn it on after boot up and everything works great.

Pros: Saw a slight increase in speed after swapping out my traditional USB2.0 to a USB3.0 enclosure. I have not conducted any test to confirm what the increase in speeds are, but can tell as the files are transferring much faster. Easy to install, loaded the drivers, and it found the new Vantec NexStar CX SuperSpeed 3.5" SATA to USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure - Model NST-310S3-BK with no problem.

Cons: None yet!

Pros: The card delivers USB 3.0, and the speed of a WD My Book 3 TB external drive increased 100% to near 90 mb/s, I guess it should be equal to external eSATA now.
I guess it's true, USB 3.0 will make a huge difference with external HDD... however I doubt it will make any difference with Flash Drives and external optical devices like Bluray, since these are slow by definition.

Cons: Another device which use power inside my system, other than that the card delivers what it was made for, so no real Cons here... so far.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame the card costs $39.99 + $7.98 for the cheapest available shipping. This cost made me wait until to buy it.
I would just suggest not to get USB 3.0 unless you have an external HDD which could benefit from it.

Pros: * Theoretically very fast connection speeds for USB 3.0 devices.
* Small form factor should fit just about any case

Cons: * At least 1 of 4 cards purchased was completely bad. 2 were questionable, 1 was actually good.
* Unresponsive online "live" tech support from SIIG
* Unresponsive online email based tech support form SIIG (been waiting for 2 days)
* Stiff sockets
* Thick plastic packaging that requires heavy scissors to open.
* Documentation was sparse: sufficient for basic installation; insufficient for any troubleshooting.

Other Thoughts: I bought 4 of these to install on 4 different computers.

The first card I installed simply did not work at all, and would not be recognized by Windows, and caused Windows to hang on shutdown.

The second card I installed installed fine, and after some messing around with the driver installer eventually was recognized by Windows, but still has trouble recognizing USB 1 and USB 2 devices. (Oddly, it will recognize some but not others.)

I then installed a 3rd card onto a different computer, and it installed fine and so far appears to be working fine.

On another computer I installed the 4th card, and it installed fine, but like the first card has troubles recognizing some legacy USB devices. (Perhaps this is a Vista issue, and the both Vista machines had this issue, while XP did not.)

I have not yet tried the cards with any actual 3.0 devices, as they are on order. Ultimately that's what I bought them for, so if 3.0 works, I'll be a bit happier...

Pros: Works good. Instructions clear and thus installation easy.. I did basic non-scientific testing - just for fun... Appears that this card works just fine

Pros: Fast!

Cons: As other people have mentioned, the USB port is tight. Be careful when unplugging.
