5 out of 5 eggsworks with Lenovo PCs

Pros: Works. I had no problems with the one I purchased.

Cons: You still need to use your DVI to DVI cable. I can't seem to find a DisplayPort to DVI cable that reaches from the PC to the monitor.

Other Thoughts: I like Lenovo PCs but I wish they wouldn't use DisplayPort connections. Seems to be a hassle. I've had to connect most of the computers with the old school VGA ports.

1 out of 5 eggshigh fail rate

Pros: most of them I have received did work to start with.
the ones still working are fine.

Cons: I had one DOA out of 10 ordered, and 2 more failed one after 3 months another ran a bit longer and failed today.
I would not get these again.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended

Pros: It's an adapter, so there's not much to say: It works as intended.

My Precision M6400 only has VGA and DP outputs, and my second screen only has VGA and DVI inputs. I was using VGA at until today and suffered from minor artifacts and a slight analog haze. Now with the all-digital DP to DVI connection the screen looks crisp and clear at 1920x1080.

Cons: The cable is quite thick, and the connectors are huge. That's why this loses an egg. It's not because I care about the appearance, but rather I'm concerned by the torque this could put on a DP port. (For me it's not really an issue as the adapter rests on my desk, but on a desktop machine it could be a concern).

Additionally, I could see the giant DP connector as getting in the way in the back of a desktop machine that has a lot of peripheral connections and/or a small form factor.

Other Thoughts: As usual, NewEgg had this shipped out to me incredibly quickly.

Not to beat a dead horse, but as other reviewers have pointed out this is a passive adapter. It won't work in place of a more expensive active adapter. This is not a "con", as it's not sold as an active adapter. The reviews based upon mis-ordering (or misunderstanding of the tech) should be stricken.

3 out of 5 eggsIt works (most of the time)

Pros: It works as described, just not with the cable I ordered with it for use with my 3rd monitor. See below for details.

Cons: I ordered this adapter and this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186011) cable to setup a 3-way surround display. When I finally got the monitors a few weeks later, the monitor it was hooked up to was showing a ton (literally all over the screen) of red pixel artifacts. I swapped monitors, same thing with all monitors. I swapped DVI cables, and its fine. Unfortunately the other DVI cables are too short for my setup, so now I needed another 6' DVI cable (which I didn't have on hand). Both cables and the adapter sockets are DVI-D, so no idea why it worked with other cables and not the 6' one I ordered with it, but it did not accomplish what I intended it for.

Other Thoughts: Just get one of these, easier, cheaper (than this and a cable), and longer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: This 20-pin connector does great at sending maximum data transfer rates of 8.64 Gbps plus 1 Mbps for its AUX channel which can carry additional data.

Purchased two of these beauties for my Quadro 6000 and they display well on my dual ViewSonic 24" LCD monitors.

Cons: For the price, can't complain too much. Maybe a bit longer ... (I have a unique set up where my equipment is on the other side of a closet wall. Makes for a clean and orderly office setup.)

Other Thoughts: I find it humorous that some of these other reviewers say their tech level is super high, and then they rate the product with only 1 egg stating the cable doesn't work because they got the wrong one for their application.

Cons: what cons, IT'S A CABLE!

Other Thoughts: those reviewers that left negative feedback should have done their home work BEFORE they bough this item!

5 out of 5 eggsBuy the right adapter, you only have yourself to blame.

Pros: Works perfect as a PASSIVE adapter. Ignore the negative reviews. Why? see other thoughts...

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: People shouldn't be able to choose their own Tech Knowledge level. Give us a tech test newegg! Why do you ask? Just look at the other peoples reviews for this product. Clearly you all needed a ACTIVE display port adapter NOT a PASSIVE. The part could be marked as passive BUT if the part doesn't say ACTIVE, then it's NOT!
