Easily add two USB 3.0 ports to your computer without any available PCI-Express slot. Koutech’s PCI USB 3.0 solution, IO-PU230, provides over twice the performance gain over on-board USB 2.0, and is backward compatible with USB 1.0/1.1/2.0 devices and fully plug-n-play and hot swap compatible. The IO-PU230 is a great way for legacy PC to take advantage of the latest USB 3.0 data transfer technology.

  • newegg PCI USB 3.0 Solution The Koutech IO-PU230 uses one free PCI slot to provide two USB 3.0 ports, and just comes in 30% slower than the maximum speed it can reach in PCI-Express slots. With over twice the speed than on-board USB 2.0, the IO-PU230 offers an ideal connection for digital cameras, scanners, printers, external CD/DVD/Blu-ray writers, hard disk drives, flash memory drives and etc. (PCI 2.x & 3.x slots will max out at 2.133Gbps. To meet available maximum transfer speed, high quality USB 3.0 cables and devices are required.)
  • newegg External Power Connector & Low Profile Bracket Included The IO-PU230 has built-in with 4-pin Molex power connector for added power source to better support power hungry bus-powered devices. A low-profile bracket is included for installing in height constrained cases. (Make sure the power is well connected, otherwise you will see a "Power Surge on Hub Port" message error and no 5V bus power in USB ports.)

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well on older Asrock board.

Pros: Everything was painless. I'm running this on a AsRock Dual SATA 2.0 mb. I benchmarked around 60 Mb/s on an external USB 2.5" hard drive. Windows XP.

Cons: No cons. Worked out nice.

Other Thoughts: Wish it was a little less expensive.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works sometimes.

Cons: Only works sometimes. When it does work a big yellow exclamation point shows up with error code 10.

Other Thoughts: Because my computer knowledge is low I can't positively blame the card. I replaced it with a pci-e card and that card works fine.

5 out of 5 eggsno complaints for 40 bucks

Pros: i purchased this product for my dell 3000 considering it has only native 1.0 usb ports on it this is a considerable upgrade..from tear down to rebooting after installs this card took me less than 30 mins to get up and working...it instantly recognized my seagate 3tb external and im looking at transfer rates of of around 10gb's in about 3 mins

Cons: none that i can see i have yet to run this card on anything but windows xp sp3 at this time but with my setup this card was a perfect match

4 out of 5 eggsBeware using w/ASUS MoBo

Pros: Includes both brackets for full and half height slots, standard chipset

Cons: Won't work on both my ASUS motherboards.

The Multi-driver CD provided is confusing to insure your installing the proper driver.

Other Thoughts: Since it took me along time to find out that it was not compatible with either of my ASUS motherboards, I can't return it for refund. Koutech was great and sent me a replacement board with 4 ports, but that also doesn't work on either of my ASUS mother boards... I am waiting for a response from Koutech as what to do next...

Since they have been fantastic with support, I am hoping they will just replace it with a PCIe model (which I also need and is the same price) and I can send them back both these cards.

1 out of 5 eggsWont work

Pros: Looks fine and plugs in fine.

Cons: Prevents my system from booting up.

Other Thoughts: I tried installing the drivers first and that didn't help. I emailed customer support, but considering they don't reply to newegg reviews I won't hold my breath. I assume I will end up returning for refund.

Biostar motherboard (A880GZ).

5 out of 5 eggsgreat for some, maybe not older linux

Pros: Lets you get 90 MB / sec USB 3.0 speed on a PCI mobo.

Cons: Might have problems with the 2.6, and early 3.x, versions of Linux kernels on some motherboards. The driver for the NEC uPD720200 chip seems to give errors like :

kernel: xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.0: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint command.

...followed by a disconnect. Apparently this is fixed in the latest kernels. Works good with XP and 2.6 Linux on some motherboards.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible

Pros: Nice Red Color

Cons: After installing the device, with the supplied CD Drivers, I thought the device was working properly until I connected my Hoodman USB 3.0 Card Reader and it did not auto recognize. Went into device manager to find that the device was properly installed however a "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" was registered to my PCI Card. OK, no problem, will update the driver from website. Nope, no go on that driver either.

I checked the power connection and that was fine, took the card out and reset it in another slot, nada!

Conclusion, I am reconfiguring my PCI slots to open a PCIe slot and getting a Rosewill Card!

5 out of 5 eggsuseful in old computer

Pros: A practical way to add a faster usb port to a computer lacking the PCI-EXpress slot.
in actual use I found this to transfer data at about 60% speed compared to a card in a PCI-Express slot.
MUCH faster than usb-2
Driver installation was a snap, and it could be noted that the drivers CAN be installed before installing the actual card.

Cons: That antique MOLEX connector,, my computer is not THAT old
FAR too expensive, but nobody forced me to buy

Other Thoughts: I would recommend a powered external hub unless you manage to connect internal power to the MOLEX connector

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: None as it did not work. Would not properly get detected in windows.

Cons: DOA. Came up as 'PCI to PCI bridge adapter' in device manager. Tried to manually install NEC driver to no avail.

Other Thoughts: That was just an hour long headache. Sending back.

1 out of 5 eggsNo go for me

Pros: Sure.

Cons: Two different cards did not work for me in either computer I tried. Used the 33MHz jumper and the latest drivers.

Other Thoughts: I should have taken a refund instead of exchanging.
