1 out of 5 eggsTake the advice, don't buy, i did....

Pros: it did finally work but slower than usb2 so i deep sixed this product from my system.

Cons: driver issues, windows won't boot first time installed had to fiddle with the pc bios to get a boot, then cables wouldn't set in deep enough, had to trim rubber on the cable to get a good connection, then must flash the card bios (sound scary???) depending on how you intend to use this.....on and on...

Other Thoughts: i thought i would save money and not buy the siig, now i am paying twice because i am ordering the siig tomorrow and sticking this thing in a drawer.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a champ. Flawless.

Pros: Works as it should, whether flashed as RAID or BASE(non-RAID).

I now have one installed on every machine here.

See "Othe thoughts' below.

Cons: Absolutely NONE.

Other Thoughts: It's +/- 95% as fast as my $250.00 LaCie PCI-e(x8) 4E 4port e-SATA card, at a fraction of the price!

And that's using a Lacie Biggest S2S 2.5TB 5-disk RAID Tower.

IMPORTANT:
Install the correct OS driver(s) for flash used, RAID or BASE.

Remember to format the drives, else they wont appear while trying to browse their contents.

Use your OS's util(Disk Managemnt in XP, GParted in *nix, etc etc)(non-RAID), in the RAID BIOS(RAID), or by using the SiL Management Utility(RAID)

1 out of 5 eggsNever worked

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Never worked correctly. I plugged it in and the Win 2k3 system found a raid controller. With research I discovered you need to flash the bios. This was annoying, but I did it anyway. After I did, it still will not recognize an external esata drive. DO NOT BUY THIS.

Other Thoughts: What a worthless device. If you want to waste your time, money and effort, by all means purchase several of these. Now I have to return it and get an esata card that actually works.

2 out of 5 eggsdon't buy

Pros: small card

Cons: This is not eSATA product, while the plug in the back might be eSATA, controller is not. Plus neither Syba nor Silicon image provide eSATA bios for this device. Comes pre-loaded with RAID bios which makes it useless if you want plug-in a stand-alone external drive.
To get it working with my Seagate I had to reflash it.

Other Thoughts: simply not worth it

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Card is short.

Cons: Appears to be RAID only. Won't work with WD My Book without wiping drive for RAID. Opening for plug is too close to one side - won't work with many eSATA cables with thick plug protectors.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Chep

Cons: This card is stated to work with Mac OSX.

It does not work on PowerMac G5.
It might work on MacPro.
The support from SYBA is bad. There tech support will ask you to install, then uninstall the driver a couple of times, but the is NO software to be used on Mac to uninstall the driver. Then they will have a list of questions, that they could find answers for them-self in the Apple manual literature.
In the end, you will be to tired to continue. I choose to give up and buy another card from Sonnet.
There tech support should be on-top of things, and make there testing of the products them-self. Don't let clients be beta testers.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Data transfer is at what it is supposed to be. No problem getting windows to see it. Works great with Vista.

Cons: The ports are a bit too high and I had to cut off a part of my case to get the esata cable to plug in.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat inexpensive Sil3132 ESata card

Pros: Small footprint. Works well with both Raid and Basic bios from Sillicon Image website. Microsft has the latest WHQL Sil drivers on the update site that correspond to the latest on the Sil Image website. Stable and inexpensive.

Cons: None so far
