5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Easy install, easy drivers, Windows 7 knew exactly what it was and what to do with it. Used this on my HTPC where I had an onboard ATI Radeon HD 4330 that couldn't do HD movies at all. This little piece of hardware streams 1080p flawlessly now!

Cons: cheap packaging

5 out of 5 eggsworth at least double for movie watchers

Pros: if it were to cost double what theyre selling for, i would still buy it. its that good. if youre using a slow, atom cpu computer with a slot for this, it will play 1080p videos when you add it. amazing. frees up cpu as well, so you can multi task while watching videos you should not even be able to watch on your crummy nettop or netbook...

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: awesome company for making this. i have a lot of respect for any company that solves new problems with humility like this. what a bargain for what this thing does!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plays 720p 1080p content flawlessly with audio synched perfectly. Havent got it to play hd youtube content yet. ...still laggy.

Cons: CHIP RUNS HOT.Really hot. Cook eggs on it hot. Thermal gun temps show highest temp when playing hd video
at 185F !!!! coolest part of chip at 120-135F

Other Thoughts: Great chip all around. I wonder how long it will work at those temps. I'll contact Habey about it.

5 out of 5 eggsHabey is Fantastic

Pros: Ones this is working correctly the difference in playback is incredible.. mind u make sure because I think this was my issue remove any software that modify s codecs like divx and ffshow..

Cons: Does get hot.. Uses a PCI Express Mini Card slot which for some would mean removing your wifi card for me no because my netbook came with an extra slot for 3g/4g card.

Other Thoughts: I first had issues getting to see a difference with this card.. But let me to you the makers "Habey" went above and beyond helping me with the problem.. After many days helping me find the issue.. They even went as far as doing a clean install on one of their own systems to find a solution for me.. They are fantastic and this card makes a huge difference and the quality of playback of a 1080p .wmv video on a not fast Acer N450 netbook video playback is smooth no choppiness..

3 out of 5 eggsI wish I could test this thing properly

Pros: Newegg ships stuff really fast, seriously 2 days from California to PA for $8, you guys are awesome.

The windows drivers don't break the system (that really shouldn't matter but, with how bad the linux drivers for this thing fail, broadcom deserves a gold star for not totally sucking at everything).

The cons are really just other thoughts extended, read on to hear my problems.

Other-Other thoughts: I'm thinking about putting this into a P4 HT dell desktop to see what I can get out of that, who knows, if this thing can make a 2006 p4 dell with GMA graphics play 1080p HD videos well, I'll revise this review and give it 5 stars (but I'm not holding my breath).

Cons: Okay, so i bought this puppy for my HP 2140, because of the atom's terrible HD video performance. I was running ubuntu 10.10 on the netbook, so I tried to get the Linux drivers working on it. Here is the thing to remember about this: the current broad-com crystal HD drivers were BROKEN when I tried to compile them. BTW, you have to compile these drivers in Linux, so if you have no idea what you are doing, or you can't figure it out, don't get this product. So I try to extract the drivers downloaded from the broadcom website and the extractor says the file is missing things to extract the data. "Okay", I think, slowly becoming frustrated, "I'll just use the drivers that come with the CD." Well, guess what? Those half-baked drivers will not compile, and I'm a busy guy, I don't want to figure this out, I just want this to work so I can watch Ashens in HD on my netbook.

Other Thoughts: contd:
So I then give up on linux and install windoze vista (why vista? b/c all my 7 and xp licences are being used on other stuff) which was an adventure itself but thats another story. I start installing all the necessary drivers and then reboot. Then guess what? The netbook forgot the hard drive and bios. The system bios is literally not there, it just can boot on a usb flash or network. Why, I don't know.

Anywho, I wanted to see if this card actually worked so i decided to put it into my hp dv6930us laptop, and the good news is that the card didn't make my laptop go up in flames, so I don't think the crystal HD was the thing that killed my netbook. the bad news is that my laptop already could handle HD, so any improvement with this card is hard to gauge.

It would not be fair to claim that the crystal HD is useless, because I can't properly use it yet. What I can say is, that the Linux drivers are really terrible, so the card loses 2 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggs1080p HD on SONY HDTV

Pros: -Plays HD 1080p movies on intel BOXD510MO
-Low power consumption
-Easy to install for Windows OS
-Perfect for HTPC
I installed this on intel BOXD510MO. I tried using it in ubuntu 10.10 but i ran into driver issue. I am not familiar with ubuntu or linux os. I even followed the instruction but i can't get it to work but in windows 7 it works great. I can now watch 1080p videos/movies, youtube, hulu, netflix, and much much more on my Sony 40" Bravia.

Cons: Linux driver is hard to install. You need to compile the driver for it.

Other Thoughts: This is my system
- Intel BOXD510MO
- Windows 7 32 bit
- Kingston Value Ram 1gb DDR2 800
- Raidmax Mini Itx
- Lg DVD Burner combo

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it suppose to do

Pros: Does exactly what it suppose to do. I can now play 1080p MKVs on my ulraportable laptop with HD3400 and Athlon Neo dual core. Before it would lag bad.

Cons: Drivers can in on an unlabelled DVD-R but who cares.

Other Thoughts: I wish they make a version that would support 3D gaming as well but that's asking too much.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth it.

Pros: Just received it, took less time to install than openning the box. For use on a Intel D510MO mini-itx, W7 Home Premium, 64b and 4 Gram. VLC and GOM are now usable full 1080p, browsers pages refresh is snappier (Chrome and FireFox). Really happy with the upgrade. Downloaded latest drivers from Broadcom.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Will get 2 more for laptop and netbook.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with my HP mini 1030nr netbook

Pros: I wasnt able to play 1080p content with my HP mini 1000 netbook (model 1030NR) without some serious lag .more like chop and no sound match up.
With the card it runs 1080p full screen (10") smooth with perfect sound match.
The CPU (1.6 Atom) runs at 53% under windows & Starter.
Worked with supplied Win7 drivers and windows media player.
Very Happy with this upgrade.

Cons: Card runs hot. you can feel it on the keyboard palm rest.

Ive read it will always have power running to it..even when not in use...will drain battery then.

Havent tried it under Youtube yet.

Supplied CD drivers burnt on a generic disc with no lable
