5 out of 5 eggsBest I've seen

Pros: This is a well built cage. A diamond in the ruff.
Very quite. Heavy guage metal and cheaper than the compition. I'm buying a second one soon.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good construction
Easy to install
Seems to secure drives from vibration pretty well
Very reasonable price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am really happy with these. We have 2 running with 4 x 15K in one and 4 x 10K in the other - both in one system. running on an IBM 5014 array controller. Works just as advertised.

3 out of 5 eggsBad Construction

Pros: Strong metal drive bay construction. Easy to mount drives onto the caddies. Includes SATA cables.

Cons: Bad internal wiring. Loose molex connectors.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for my gaming system to put in a couple SSDs and HDDs in a hot-swap solution. Unfortunately I seem to have gotten a bad unit. The two molex connectors were pushed inside the unit itself, making it very difficult to get power to the drives. When I was able to attach the molex connectors correctly, not all of the drive bays would receive power. I was very disappointed with this device, and will be returning this back to Newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsFragile Molex attachment!

Pros: Same pro's as most other 4 x 2.5" drive --> 1 x 5.25" bay SAS/SATA adapters. Holds four small drives. Has cooling fans included. Hot plug / hot-swap capable.
Ample screws provided. No problems plugging in 2 different-brand SSDs.

Cons: Poorly-mounted molex 4-pin power connectors bend back into the case when you try to plug power into them. The plastic pins that are supposed to hold the connectors in place are just loose, so they slide up out of the PCB as you push in and the connector rotates up and back into the device.
One of the indicator lights does not appear to be working properly. In spite of a lot of disk activity, the green light isn't coming on.
No internet support for this product. Try going to the product page; XClio does not even list this product in an archive/support page on their web site, much less market it.
The rail slots for the trays are very thin, and there's no V-shaped guide to help get them in correctly. Not as bad as Apollo 13 reentry window, but could be better.

Other Thoughts: I was able to bend the molex connectors back using needlenose. They are PCB-mounted right-angle connectors that have 90-degree angles in the posts that support them. When the plastic mounts slide up, those 4 posts bend. I'm hoping that nothing was damaged b.c. I don't want to deal with RMA. Fans and bays work, so I seem to be ok.

I wanted to get the iStarUSA BPU-124V2-SS, but it's been discontinued. This item appeared to be an acceptable compromise... at first glance.
This product is no longer actively marketed by the manufacturer. Try going to the product page listed by NewEgg. Then try finding an e-copy of the user guide *anywhere*. If a tray needs replacement, I assume I'm out of luck. When all is well, you're ok. But if something goes wrong? Buyer beware. Fingers crossed that nothing will go wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsReally nicely manufactured

Pros: The other reviewers are correct, this item is extremely well-made. Sturdy & comforting. I would have NO problem putting these into high-performance environments. Other ppl complained about the fans, but I can't her them at all, and my PC is pretty quiet. Others also complained about the LEDs but they seem fine to me. I can clearly distinguish the Green activity LED.

Cons: I couldn't get the drives to appear in my bios at first, but I plugged & unplugged them a couple times and they showed up. Maybe have to push a little harder.
It is a TIGHT fit in a 5.25 drive bay. I didn't have to mangle anything, but the black paint on the drive bay scraped up a little bit. put this in before you install your mobo, or you'll get black paint on it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat 2.5" Cage

Pros: Good design and construction. Everything comes apart with screws for customization. Plenty of airflow around HDDs.

Cons: Activity light is too dim. Fans are loud.

Other Thoughts: I only have 7200rpm drives and have power management enabled therefore I was able to open and disable both fans without any side effects. The case itself gets plenty of airflow over the disks without the fans at all. It would have gotten 5 stars if the fans were silent. I haven't tried it but suspect that 10k drives would work just fine without the fans as well as long as they're not spinning 24x7.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat piece of kit

Pros: Well-built, much better than other 4-in-1 devices I've read about or seen. Except for the clips, it's metal. Dual power plugs, SATA and SAS connectors...it has everything you should need.

Cons: Two minor cons:

It was difficult to screw my SSDs onto the trays; I couldn't find any screws with "proper" length. The screws that came with it were too short (barely went through the tray) and the ones I had were too long (hit something inside the SSD--I think). I just pushed harder, and so far it's okay.

There's no easy way to remove or disable the fans. I have this in a 2U rackmount case with plenty of airflow, and don't need the extra power draw or noise, especially with SSDs.

Other Thoughts: Spend the extra money on this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive bay

Pros: Holds four 2.5 drives, perfect for a RAID10 /. Looks like you can do the multi-path SAS on this, though I don't use this technology in my workstation. The sleds for the drives are pretty nice construction. Aesthetically this thing is sharp looking.

Cons: If your bay is anything less than the full 5.25, it may be a snug fit. I had to actually bend some metal inside my case, but that's because it's a consumer case. Anything you buy as a separate case will likely not have this issue.

Other Thoughts: I haven't really seen any other available 4 bay 5.25 inch containers that appear to be as good construction as this, so it's kind of a no-brainer if you're on the market for one.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb quality in its class

Pros: EXCELLENT build quality, especially if you have used cheaper RAID cages before.

Cons: Can't think of a thing. I would buy more in a heartbeat. I have had these in service for awhile now, and have had no problems. Not really a con, but it would be nice if, instead of four individual cables, it came with the cables that connect 4 individual SATA cables to a RAID controller, since that is the most logical way these cages would be employed.

Other Thoughts: I installed two of them in my XW workstation with 8 15K drives in them, and they are VERY quiet. I had previously had some cheap cages in there, and the difference is staggering. No vibration, no weird noises...even with all those drives it sounds (almost) like a normal computer.
