4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works

buy it, I intend to buy a second one

suggested companion technology:

get a Rosewill 7-port powered hub, plug in 4 or 5 wireless dongles and go crazy with keyboards, mice, trackballs and Wacom tablets on two computers

supports quality flash drives and hard drives in powered external enclosures

plug and play under linux and winXP 7 win7

Cons: I had a great, lengthy review typed up with many interesting and useful details under all categories

but newegg logged me out of my account while I was typing and deleted everything

I have no intention of typing that all up again.

Only USB 2; it would be nice to have a USB 3 model.

It slides around the desk with only three small feet;

very bright green LED

very round & artsy design , making it useless for fitting in and integrating on a full desk

Takes at least 5 seconds for computer to recognize devices when switching between systems. Sometimes longer.

Flash devices & HDDs need to re-read/re-index, so plan on that delay.

Plus, flash drives & HDDs should be properly unmounted/ejected BEFORE switching to ensure minimum risk of data loss &/or damage.

This switch appears to have been designed as a printer-sharing switch between computers, so use of other devices on this switch may be problematic on occasion if you don't keep that in mind and plan your actions accordingly.

It does, in fact, work with every USB 2 device I've tried on it ... but I suggest cautious experimentation before relying on certain activities.

For example, switching between computers while flash drives/HDDs are connected &/or transferring data could lead to tragedy if not done carefully.

Other Thoughts: newegg, this is not the first time you have wiped out a detailed review that I put a lot of time into to try and help out my fellow travelers here.

However, it is the last time, because I really will never waste my time again adding free content to your website just so you can erase it.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect

Pros: * works with my wireless mouse/keyboard receiver
* cheap yet excellent. I don't think you can beat it at $13!

Cons: * when pushing buttons it takes about 2 seconds to do the switch. Not a problem.
* it has 3 rubber feet instead of 4 which makes it physically unstable. Not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Great way to share keyboard/mouse with 2 computers. But only has one USB port.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with wireless keyboard/mouse

Pros: Works great with an MS wireless keyboard + mouse setup between a Win 7 and a Win XP computer. One press of the button and it switches the keyboard/mouse between the two computers which share a single 27" LCD monitor- the Win XP machine uses the VGA input, and the Win 7 PC uses the DVI-D input- what could be easier?

Cons: None; four months and no problems.

Other Thoughts: Instead of shutting down, one PC can be put to sleep while using the keyboard/mouse with the other PC.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Its a switch it works great. Not much more to say.

Cons: The blaring green light of doom on it will come for you at night, be warned.
It also takes about 5 seconds for the switch to happen after you press the button, not 1 second.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well, and simply so...

Pros: No drivers necessary. Now a bargain. Using for scanner sharing.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Tried an automatic switch, but to no avail, it would only work with a printer.

3 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with Canon Lide 110 Scanner

Pros: Price, small, simple. Works fine with keyboard or mouse.

Cons: Doesn't work with a Canon Lide 110 Scanner.

It does work with a USB keyboard and mouse, however to switch to the other computer is pretty slow, takes about five seconds.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple, works.

Pros: Works to share scanner between to PCs, no drivers, out of the box.

Cons: none, yet. Automatic would be nice... but...

Other Thoughts: I had read the IOMEGA automatic USB switch for printers would work to share a USB scanner, it didn't. Restocking and shipment back comes to a complete loss. Now I'm searching for an application for the IOMEGA device.
