5 out of 5 eggsVideo Splitter - GWC

Pros: After a few weeks of ownership I had the chance to install it. It worked great for my monitor but the T.V. (reason for purchasing the monitor) had a slight green tint to everything. The picture was great except for the greenish color.

I called up the company (a little work to find the phone number but not too bad) and got someone within a few minutes. To my surprise after I told him my problem, he told me (with an accent but still easy to understand) he would set it up in their lab and do some testing with my configuration (as close as they could get) and he would call me back the same day. He called me back (same day) but wasn't able to replicate my problem. We both were about to give up and then the T.V. just started to work!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: There customer service was great. The gentleman (Alan in tech support) I don't fault for the problem with the T.V. I am sure it was just a setting of some type but I have NEVER seen an issue like this, and I have done these setups a number of times. This was bizarre. Nonetheless he helped as much as he could, and everything works great now. I am probably going to buy another one and take this one to our church where it is also needed.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The splitter did what it was supposed to but it succumbed to a massive power surge from a close lighting strike although it was on a surge protector. I lost the modem, phone,tv,DVR and the splitter so I will be ordering another one.

Cons: Didn't handle the power surge.

3 out of 5 eggsPoor design

Pros: It functions as designed.

Cons: The connection between the computer and the splitter requires a VGA extension cable (male-female) rather than a standard male-male monitor cable. This seems to be common among powered VGA splitters, but requires an additional purchase.

Other Thoughts: The (older) computers on our school campus do not have the power to drive both a projector and an LCD monitor (CRT Monitors work fine). The projector always works, but when the projector cable (>35 ft) is plugged in to a non-powered splitter, the LCD monitor no longer detects a signal. This powered VGA splitter solved this problem.

5 out of 5 eggsThere are pictures for a reason

Pros: - Worked flawlessly out of the box
- No degradation or ghosting
- Active (needs power, which I personally prefer to a passive splitter)
- Solid and sturdily built

Cons: - Video in is male (see other thoughts)
- Wouldn't have minded some wall mounting holes, but not a big deal whatsoever (built a little shelf underneath the desk)

Other Thoughts: There are pictures of the products on Newegg so that when you buy something you know to a degree exactly what you are buying. For anyone who actually complained about the video in being male and took eggs off for it, you are pathetic. You know exactly what you are buying (granted, I'm not sure why it was designed this way, seeing as most VGA cables are male/male, but I digress) and should not deface the reputation of a good product because of a strange design that was openly pointed out to you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

Pros: Worked perfectly. Two identical pictures on both screens with excellent picture quality! All the connectors plug in like they are supposed to, and the unit doesn't look like a dinosaur. Quality construction, and asthetically appealing as well. If I need a splitter again, I will definitely get this one.

Cons: Ummm,..... it doesn't go to work for me!

1 out of 5 eggsFuzzy Distortion on Primary Monitor

Pros: Low cost. Solid metal case.

Cons: Even on a moderate video resolution of 1280x800 the primary monitor is noticeably fuzzy. I know it's the box since I troubleshot it by simply unplugging the input and monitor cables, and connecting them together. The display cleared right up. Save your money.

4 out of 5 eggsgood !!

Pros: plugged it and it worked !!

Cons: The IN port is male and the box Does not include a male / female cord.
I had to buy a female/female adapter from a local store for ~$6.

Other Thoughts: Used with an old Celeron 700 to watch videos/pictures and still have a monitor connected.
