5 out of 5 eggsFound One!

Pros: Works very well, no drivers needed. Great construction.

Cons: Not as solid as it first seems, but still a very good build quality for a USB hub.

Other Thoughts: I have an HTCP that is in my AV cabinate, but i also have my main mouse, keyboard, printer, and a 19" lcd at a desk about 6 feet away. I needed a USB hub for all my stuff at my desk and needed to run a 16 foot usb cable to make a clkean run. i had a lot of problems with a few hubs that wouldnt run off that long of a line. This one worked just fine.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable, loses connection

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Like many others have reported, this fails to recognize devices all the time for me. After every reboot, it requires me to unplug EVERY device on the chain, and reconnect them in order to recognize. The exact scenario reproduced for me on 3 different CPUs, including a brand new MacPro, so it isn't the computer. I'm not sure if it is incompatibility with certain devices on the chain that causes this or what, but it's entirely frustrating. I have a keyboard and a wacom tablet hooked into it that are never recognized at boot up when connected to this thing.

Other Thoughts: I'm here reading these reviews because I am looking for a replacement to this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid and huge...

Pros: Works great, no problems.

Cons: No drawbacks, except it is big. Check the specs and make sure the cords are the right length for you.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I wanted a fool-proof brand-name USB hub for a big desktop system. I figure with the brand name it might not catch fire. I have several inexpensive hubs that work fine, but I wanted something more solid for 24/7 use. It has worked fine for almost a year, and it is still going.

1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: none

Cons: i ordered one of each, the 4 and 7-port d-link hubs. the 4-port hub is totally unreliable. even though it is properly enumerated (in Vista x64), downstream USB devices (logitech webcam, edirol usb audio, apc ups, etc) often don't show-up in windows, and the hub must be reset (powered-off and unplugged from the computer). i've even tried just plugging in ONE usb hard drive, but the windows event log shows LOTS of 'disk i/o' errors/timeouts, which do not occur if the drive is plugged directly into my computer (ThinkPad T61p).

the 7-port d-link hub is less problematic, BUT it too occasionally will occasionally fail, with all the LEDs blinking off/on and downstream devices will not be properly enumerated, requiring the hub to be reset.

unfortunately, i was expecting these d-link hubs to work fine, so i didn't bother to keep the packaging, i tossed the boxes in the garbage... so now i can't ship this junk back to newegg.

anyway, don't buy these hubs, they suck, particularly the 4-

Other Thoughts: why is it practically impossible to find a high-quality USB hub??

can anyone can recommend a QUALITY hub (and preferably not some made-in-china piece of junk)?

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Heavy enough to keep the cables from pulling off the shelf. Good performance

Cons: It is a bit large.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy another one

5 out of 5 eggsGood Hub for the Price

Pros: .
Cheap.
Four Ports.
Can run with or without supplied power adapter.
Good hub for expanding the DGL-4500 USB port.

Cons: Really?

Other Thoughts: I used this hub to connect a External hard drive, and a printer to the DGL-4500 USB port. DLink decided to release a program that utilizes the USB port to virtually connect such a device to any computer on the network. Only downside is the router can restart if too much load is put on the network, but that is a router problem.

4 out of 5 eggsGlitch with ASUS Pundit

Pros: Works well either powered or unpowered, depending upon the types of devices.

Cons: My Asus Pundit will not boot with this device in any of it's USB ports. The system freezes at the ASUS bios graphics page, and proceeds no further. If I disconnect the device and continue, things proceed normally, and XP finds it without error.

Other Thoughts: Con might be a Asus BIOS problem, but you should be aware.
