1 out of 5 eggsMaybe just a lemon?

Pros: Seemed as though a great solution to read usb drives and sd cards for cameras.

Cons: However, attempted setup for this multiple times and the unit seems to not respond to anything. Even when I went online and looked for software/drivers, nothing seemed to work. I would definitely like a replacement/ other product to use.

Other Thoughts: Maybe better quality control?

3 out of 5 eggsUSB 3 is slow

Pros: Great Construction and concept of both USB 3 & 2 in one box. I bought this to extend my USB 3.0 to my desk for multiple items and it works.

Cons: Slow USB 3.0 with powered WD External USB 3.0 hard drive. It took 2 days to copy 1 Tb of data to the external drive. This is not what I expected.

Other Thoughts: make it easier to get to the memory card.

3 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasted

Pros: 3x USB 3.0, 3x USB 2.0, flash reader, external power. Heavy/solid construction.

Cons: Spring-loaded MicroSD slot is pretty much inaccessible without picking up the unit. When inserted, the MSD will sit flush with the face. This means you will not notice if there is a MSD card inserted or not, also makes it frustrating to remove.

Dead. Purchased 2011-09-28, failed 2012-06-13. Fried due to unknown cause, now smells funny.

Other Thoughts: SD slot is not spring-loaded. Doesn't read Compact Flash.

2 out of 5 eggsUSB 3.0 Hub works, USB 2.0 & Card Reader not so much

Pros: The USB 3.0 ports work and I was able to verify with my USB 3.0 External HDD that they do work at specified Speeds.

Cons: The USB 2.0 ports work as expected for a bit, and then died.
Card Reader doesn't recognize ANY of my SD or MicroSD cards. I plug one in, no dialogue box pops up, and no drive is detected by windows.
If I plug that same SD or MicroSD card into the USB 3.0 port with an adapter, it pops up right away. Card Reader ports are DOA.

Other Thoughts: If all you want it a USB 2.0 / 3.0 hub, this device works great. Card Reader is a no go even after re-installing the RealTek Card Reader driver from the SIIG support web site. Looking to exchange it for a working one.
Being that only 1 out of 3 port types work, this guy gets 2 Eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsworks with linux kernel 3+

Pros: works out of box with Linux kernel 3.0.32-2.el6.elrepo.x86_64 x86_64 (Centos elRepo kernel) USB 2 & 3; plugged in a microsdhc card and that works as well... (and all at the same time)

Cons: seperate power supply, but i guess that's necessary to power that many

Other Thoughts: here are the relevant parts of my lsusb showing the 3.hub working:

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for me

Pros: I have a mac pro (5 USB port total) and I wanted USB access on my desk to help my back. This product does that
I use USB 2.0 and it all works fine. Card reader is awesome, beats plugging in cameras with cords and such, faster transfer speeds.

Cons: Design: Unless it's kept in the center of space (not touching anything) only 3 USB ports are accessible.
Cord: Way too short, don't know if this is USB 3.0 issue but if it's not c'mon give us atleast 2 more feet. The cord they give implies your going to just put it right after the port.

Other Thoughts: Complete setup (to help understand compatibility):
Computer USB 2.0, USB 2.0 cord, USB 2.0 devices work on 3.0 ports as well!

2 out of 5 eggsLooks good - half runs

Pros: Nice in appearance, solid in weight, indicator lamp when running. Has every feature you need to gather up the mess of cables heading to a computer. As far as a single uplink port bandwidth limitation can do anyway.

Cons: The USB3 side of the device will not support any USB3 type of devices. They all failed. However, all the USB3 devices work fine on the USB2/1.1 side of the device. Worth noting is that the USB3 side DOES support USB2 and 1.1 devices, just not any USB3 device.

Other Thoughts: I have been using Western Digital External USB 3.0 storage drives to connect to it. They work on the USB2 side. Oddly enough, all the 2.0 devices work on the 3.0 side, and all the 3.0 devices only work on the 2.0 side. Not the greatest way to get the best speed from your devices though....(all the drives work in USB3 if directly connected to the computer - yes I tested that first)

Going to send it back shortly...
