2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with Windows 7

Pros: Good visual design

Cons: Doesn't work with Windows 7 which is not supported by Belkin. It will crash your pc. I have a Lenovo Y570 PC running Windows 7 and it gives blue screens when resuming from shut down. This is verified on several Y570s and Belkin refused to provide an updated driver. If you anticipate having to run Win 7 avoid it. Otherwise it works fine with XP and Vista.

Other Thoughts: Belkin lost major cred with me on this one. There is no excuse for them not to release a driver for windows.

5 out of 5 eggsReally Nice Stable Design

Pros: * I love the design. It sits flat on the desk and is completely stable. I love all the ports including the two on the top. The cable manager is fantastic. A++ for design!

Cons: * Pricey but you get what you pay for in this case.

Other Thoughts: * I'd buy another one in heartbeat.

5 out of 5 eggsUser Friendly - Exceeds Expectations

Pros: Easy set-up, with no out-of-the box problems. Works as advertised. Excellent value.

Response times of all attached peripherals are noticeably faster in comparison to those experienced with a competitor's older hub.

Cons: While a 5+ yr. old HP scanner previously worked via a Belkin USB 1.0 hub of likewise vintage, it would not work in this new USB 2.0 hub. Therefore, I left the original hub attached to an open USB 1.0 port to service the scanner.

1 out of 5 eggsDon;t believe it is a belkin product

Pros: 7 Ports with individual power, so should be able to power multiple machines like printer, speaker and so on

Cons: Failed in the third days I received the product. It just can not recognize the hooked USB devices. I tried several times, reboot the computer and reconnect the USB cable of this port. But it just failed. I bought this because of the belkin reputation. Unfortunately, it disappointed me very much.

Other Thoughts: Belkin should discontinue this product

2 out of 5 eggsRoll the Dice

Pros: Appears well made, good cord management and heavy enough to not move around when plugging in USB cables.

Cons: Faulty. This is the second one of these I have purchased, and will be the last. The other was faulty also, but both replacements were good (for now). 2 for 2 on first item purchase being bad is not a good percentage, especially when I have to pay for return shipping! The price has plummetted on this thing since I purchased the first one - obviously Belkin is trying to get rid of stock on a bad design or something! $50 all the way down to $15?!

Other Thoughts: Take your 50/50 chance on getting a good one or a bad one, if you get a good one, it works great!

2 out of 5 eggs50/50 Chance

Pros: Seems to be well-made, solidly built. Heavy enough to not slide around when plugging something into it. The cord retainer keeps ipod cables, camera cables, etc. from falling behind your desk.

Cons: I have purchased 2 of these in the last couple of months (one from Newegg and one elsewhere) and both times the first one a purchased was faulty. They would not recognize devices or would state that they would work faster if plugged into a Hi-Speed USB Port! (That's all I have on my computer). If I unplug the USB input cord coming from the computer to the hub (AFTER plugging in a device) and then replug it, it works fine. So, after paying for return shipping both times (pretty lame) both replacements work with no problems.

Other Thoughts: It's a 50/50 shot - take your chances - if you get one that works, it works great...if you want to pay for shipping TWICE - Roll the dice!

2 out of 5 eggsGreat looks design flawed

Pros: Great design with two ports on top for easy pluging in and out for thumb drives for example and four port on the back for more permanent devices (mouse) plus cable management whic is a definitive plus.

Cons: short life span. I bought mine two and a half years ago and it most likely overheated within the 8 month (it was running fairly hot on one side but did not noticeably impair functionality). It has been somewhat working for an additional 10 month until it appeared to quit. Left it aside for a while and tried to use it again with my vista machine but no go. took it apart and the CPU on the circuit board has noticeable signs of overheating.

Other Thoughts: I'm disappointed to find out that this is apparently not an isolated incident and that furthermore it has been going on for quite some time and Belkin has not done anything about it yet.... I'm looking elsewhere this time over... too bad.

2 out of 5 eggsContinue Looking

Pros: 7 Ports

Cons: Besides some design issues for cable management, my real concern is with the early death of one of the two units I purchased. To further burn.....I have to pay the shipping for return to the other side of the country. That might be expected on a term of longer ownership but within a month. I've had nothing but trouble from ALL Belkin equipment purchased.

Other Thoughts: Keep searching before considering this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hub

Pros: Powered all my devices easily. It has a larger footprint and I can imagine it being very stable and not be dragged around by the weight of its cables.

Cons: Larger than I expected.

Other Thoughts: I have this hub hidden in my desk and another smaller belkin powered 4 port hub daisy chained to this one (smaller one sits on my desktop). The one hidden in my desk has my mouse, keyboard, TomTom docking station and camera's cable connected to it. The one on my desk hosts my external 2.5" drive and my flash drives. Both hubs dont seem to struggle when I have all of these devices connected.

I dont have the high pitch whine problem others have been reporting. I have a sensitive ear and can hear the cpu whine on my laptop, but this hub was dead silent.
