- Pros: Works right out of the box as advertised. Took less than two minutes to have an old SATA drive in it and connected to the pc.
If you need a cheap reliable external enclosure that accepts both SATA and IDE, then this is the one for you.
- Cons: None really.
You do have to turn your SATA drive upside down to connect the cables to it, but thats no big deal breaker. And yes it does fit kinda tight in the case, but its not as fragile as some reviewers have claimed it to be.
- Other Thoughts: For the price, this enclosure cant be beat. I have three of these at my house, all bought at different times over the past few years, and none of them have failed me yet....but this was the first one that i have bought that accepts SATA and IDE drives.
All four of these enclosures that i have bought seem to be made by the same company and re branded by different re sellers, since they all pretty much look and feel the same.
Stay Away!
- Pros: When it does work it's flawless...But that's rare.
- Cons: Power adapter is loose at best, and it constantly disconnects the drive, causing those delay write failures within XP. ONLY recommended if you never move the drive, even then it's a hard recommendation as there are far better products out there.
- Other Thoughts: It's given me so much grief ever since I first bought it...
Make it easier on yourself
- Pros: Quite Easy to install
- Cons: You may get one that works, but sadly according to the other reviews I got one of the other four out of five that didnt. I could not get the device to register in XP and Ubuntu 8.10 for two working IDE drives and one brand new SATA drive.
- Other Thoughts: If you get this product you're taking a chance that itll work or not. If it doesnt you have to go through the process of returning it and so forth. I say make it easier for yourself and pay the little extra up front and get an enclosure you can be sure about.
