1 out of 5 eggsNewegg service

Pros: None newegg service sucks

Cons: Newegg again, I paid $33.09 for a FedEx overnight delivery and here I am waiting with not even a tracking number, yet it took less than 5 minutes for newegg to process and take the money out of my credit card, to add insult to injury i'll take the same amount of time to get it if I placed a regular order.

Other Thoughts: I order four chips of ram, each has a individual freight charge they combine all four and still charge individually. for a thought I order about a year ago ram it took 2 months to receive it. I have to give a 1 egg because the site force me, zero would be my best rating.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with Dell 470/670 - Rank 1

Pros: Very good price, Kingston reliability, drop-in compatibility with Dell 470/670 workstations, Single Rank organization, which means that you can populate all 6 slots of 470/670 machines.

Cons: How come there is no free shipping on these?

Other Thoughts: Buy a used Dell 470/670 Xeon Dual Processors machine on one of those auction sites for about 200 bucks, drop in a pair of these, and you got yourself an industrial strength server/CAD workstation. If you manage to get Quadro FX 1300 or FX 1400 on those used boxes, you are probably set for a couple of years!

5 out of 5 eggsGood RAM for Correct Application...

Pros: Works on Dell PERC 5i RAID Controller, but is only seen as 512 MB in the LSI MegaRAID Software, which is a limitation of the PERC Controller, and not this RAM (i.e. it's single sided RAM, but the Controller can only address 512 MB and nothing more...).

Cons: None...

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for RAM upgrade for your Dell PERC 5i the choose this one instead;

Kingston 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM ECC Registered DDR2 400 (PC2 3200) Server Memory Model KVR400D2S8R3/512

4 out of 5 eggsWhach out for the Rank

Pros: best price, better than e-bay, and you can feel safe.

Cons: There is nowhere in description mentioned Rank or R1 or R2.

Other Thoughts: There is nowhere in description mentioned Rank or R1 or R2. That is quite important. My Dell 470 has 6 slots, and I had 4 filled thinking I can just drop them into last 5 and 6. That doesn't work if the other slots are filled with Rank 2 memory or sometimes marked as R2 in description. I end up having 1 and 2 slot with R2 memory and I put this new R1 (2x1GB) into 3 and 4, while 5 and 6 remained open. I had to take out (2x512MB) R2 because slots 5, 6 take only R1 memory. You also cannot put R2,R2,R2,R2,R1,R1 because when the first 4 slots are full of R2, 5 and 6 is off. So instead upgrading from 2GB to 4GB I have now only 3GB.
