1 out of 5 eggsScam Flash Drive - Do Not Buy!

Pros: None

Cons: Cheap plastic
Light weight due to contents
actual 4 GB size that reports 256 GB in Windows
Mine was not recognized by Airbook or Win8

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue that occurred with the DT310 drive. We are here to help and if the drive is not working properly it can be replaced under warranty. We do format all of our drives to FAT32 by default, so there is a 4GB single file size limitation but the drive can be reformatted to any format like exFAT that would not have that limitation. If that is not the issue or for any other assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

1 out of 5 eggsFake!

Pros: None really! They made it look authentic.

Cons: The 256gb is actually about 4gb. Once you go over that your drive will become corrupted. When you try to format it will not work.

Other Thoughts: To salvage your 4gb u have to pretend like u r going 2 install windows all over with your windows cd.Once u c ur flashdrive mb 26..... format it. Then create put 3777 mb.U will probably c [3555] to the right of the 26......mb.That's because that's the actual amount of storage.Once u create remove the drive and cd then F3 guit.

1 out of 5 eggsNot very reliable

Pros: High capacity storage

Cons: When it works

Other Thoughts: (bought for me by business partner, not from newegg but I wanted to review this here since I always buy my pc hardware from this site)

This device comes formatted in the "exFAT" format. XP pro/sp3 saw this as 255gb, allowed me to copy about 100gb of data/files to it. Took FOREVER on usb 2.0 and when I tried to access the data on this drive, on the computer I used to transfer/copy the data too, it showed up as corrupt and would NOT allow me to see the data. Then it just stops working. Had to reformat the drive to NTFS, it works until I try to copy/transfer data to it. It will lock up, become corrupted, basically just will not work.

I'll stick to the various external HDD's I've gotten from newegg when I need high capacity mobile storage of data.

1 out of 5 eggsCaveat Emptor

Pros: Massive capacity

Cons: N/A: I don't own a working one

Other Thoughts: I did not purchase 2 of these items on newegg but rather
on for $25/item. Both arrive in good condition,
were recognized in both linux and windows, but after a
few i/o's they died. Windows from the beginning reported
"No enough space left on device" after a few megabytes
I tried to get an RMA from Kingston but they said it is not
available for items purchased abroad; they were sent from
Since this is a comment I do not rate the items; I only
hope Kingston reads it and posts a comment. I strongly
suspect these items that I got are fakes made in China:
It is impossible that they sold them to me for $25 while
newegg sells them for over $700.
My low rating is because newegg requires one but I hope
is for Kingston to reply

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth the money

Pros: Great price for the amount of storage you get. Would reccomend it to anyone. I have 5 of these in RAID 5, and I back up my ten SMTP servers every other day.

Cons: Absolutely none. The price-to-space ratio is perfect for my budget.

Other Thoughts: The other people that wrote reviews don't know what they're talking about. All you have to do is use ReadyBoost to intertwine the Hyper-Threading and if you have enough RAM you can set up a RAID 6 with triple-mirroring.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: i use a pair of these in RAID for my business backup needs, works great and I like the portability they offer

Cons: color scheme is dull

Other Thoughts: my computer only has 2 usb ports so i can't run RAID 5 with these

2 out of 5 eggslots of storage on a slow interface

Pros: lots of storage, but you already know that

Cons: $800+
files transfer slow even on USB 2.0

Other Thoughts: wait until the USB 3.0 versions come out before you start using a flash drives over 128GB in windows 7 / vista

eSATA and Firewire both have better transfers
