Crucial 240-pin DIMMs are used in DDR3 memory for desktop computers. DDR3 is the latest generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly.

A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.

5 out of 5 eggsWork as expected

Pros: Compatible with Dell PowerEdge R710 Servers

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have been running 2 kits in a Dell PowerEdge R710 and they have been working flawlessly for over a year.

3 out of 5 eggsCompatibility issue.

Pros: Nice heat spreader.

Cons: More expensive that non-registered RAM. Not compatible with my server. See below.

Other Thoughts: Reason for 3 eggs. Not the RAM's fault. Most likely mine. Purchased for use in my Lenovo server but it turns out it isn't compatible. I ended up ordering system specific memory directly from Crucial and I hope it works when it arrives. I should have checked their site first rather than hoping this would work when I ordered it.

Server info:
Lenovo TS 130
Intel Xeon E3-1225 3.10GHz

5 out of 5 eggsGreat memory

Pros: Installed 2 sets of these in my exchange server at work. Haven't had any issues for a month plus. Speed seems to be as advertised.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Awesome price.

Bought it when it was 230.00$ in 2010.

No failure, test it out.

Cons: I ordered 6 for a workstation.

Order arrived with 5 + 1 of some other crucial ram.

Return for an exchange and took a month before the last ram arrives. Fault to newegg for not being careful.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works as expected. Seems to run a little lower than 1.5V which is a plus in my book. No heatsink but hardly needed (they do not run warm at all)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have two sets of this product (4 DIMMs = 16 GB) in a SuperMicro H8SGL-F server board, residing in their 1U AS-1012G-MTF chassis. Works great with Magny-Cours Opteron CPU.

I purchased based on the compatibility review of FNI below, plus the Crucial website shows them as compatible with this server board. And they are!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Perfect RAM for an Intel server board.

Cons: One stick of the two kits I ordered was bad and it took over a month for UPS to deliver the package back to NewEgg.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Crucial has great tech phone support. Memory works great in my HP ML150.

Cons: The sticks that I got were 36chip CT2KIT51272BB1339.36FF1, did not work in my Dell Power Edge T310 that I ordered them for. They were out of stock, after I ordered so who knows what you will get now. This is the right part number for the T310, but they also come in 18 chip configuration CT2KIT51272BB1339.18FD1 and CT2KIT51272BB1339.18FR1. I have to order these from someone who will make sure I get the right one. Disappointed that Crucial has not made these a separate part number like other RAM manufactures.

Cons: None.
