Crucial 240-pin DIMMs are used in DDR3 memory for desktop computers. DDR3 is the latest generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data more quickly.

A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.

5 out of 5 eggsworks with asus & amd desktop

Pros: works well with ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS motherboard, and AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6ghz processor. makes a nice little inexpensive desktop board ecc server. the mobo has a good bios with multiple scrub options for ecc.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: asus supports ecc on all of their current am2/3 desktop boards(that i've seen, and you often have to check the manual), other mfgs usually don't specify or don't support it. amd supports ecc on desktop cpus(except a-series apus), intel doesn't let you use ecc on their desktop cpus/mobo chipsets.

5 out of 5 eggsGood to go

Pros: Using two sets in SUPERMICRO MBD-X9SCM-F-O with absolutly no issue. Performed advanced memory testing overnight using memtest86; passed with flying colors. Using with ESXi 5.0.0 and all is well.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I hope the 2x8GB kits hit newegg.com at a good price soon!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with HP ML110 G6 and Supermicro X9SCM-F-O

Pros: I purchased 2 of these (4 dimms total, 16GB total) to use for my white box ESXi (v4.1) test server. Seems to work fine with very new SUPERMICRO X9SCM-F-O and Xeon E3-1230 CPU. Also used 1 kit (8GB total) in HP ML 110 G6 (core i3 CPU) - no problems there either.

Cons: none - fortunately I have not received bad module like a couple of he reviewers posing here.

Other Thoughts: Super happy with the white box ESXi server I put together. Lots of power with the Sandy Bridge 80W E3-1230 CPU which is the cheapest CPU to provide Hyperthreading. 16GB of memory was reasonably priced and allows me to run a bunch a test VMs at the same time.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked Great

Pros: Good Price, Crucial name, ECC

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I actually got these for my gaming computer. They work perfectly on the Asus Crosshair IV Formula motherboard, and their ECC function is fully supported.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: when they come, and IF they work - they work.

Cons: as reported, these modules have horrid quality control. i have ordered a few kits, and EVERY kit so far has had at least one module that doesnt work. its absolutely ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: kingston is looking good.

2 out of 5 eggsBeware.

Pros: Works when it comes operative

Cons: So far we have ordered 6 kits at 3 different times. Only one out of three of the orders did we not have issues with. For the other two, they had to be RMA's. If your time is valuable, go with Kingston.
