Transcend’s SDHC card is based on the new generation of SD cards (SD 2.0) that support the FAT32 file system format. Fully Class 6 compliant, the card features fast data transfer speeds (guaranteed minimum write speed of 6MB/s) and satisfies the high-capacity demands of today’s new SDHC devices such as high-end digital cameras or digital camcorders. You can store your entire music or picture collections, video clips, or even complete full-length high quality movies.

Transcend’s SDHC card also includes special features such as a mechanical write protection switch that keeps your important data safe from accidental deletion or over-writing. Transcend’s SDHC Class 6 series features ECC (Error Correcting Code) to automatically detect and correct errors during data transfer, preventing data corruption and missing files. Transcends manufactures all of its SDHC cards using brand name NAND Flash chips and premium quality components to ensure robust, long-life durability and performance. For further peace of mind, all SDHC cards are comprehensively tested for compatibility and reliability.

2 out of 5 eggsTranscend 16GB SDHC

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Unreliable

Other Thoughts: This unit worked fine in an entry level DSLR for a while, although it was a little sluggish both in the camera and during transfers.
I would not mind the speed factor if it would work properly, but it is simply unreliable. Often files would become corrupt, and/or transfers would halt and require scans to view file listings.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't last long

Pros: Cheap large capacity, fast enough for entry level DSLR.

Cons: Dead within a year. Able to recover photos but couldn't reformat in camera or on computer using a couple different utilities.

3 out of 5 eggsBackup your cards

Pros: I've used Transcend cards for years, and replace them regularly.

Cons: There is not a free card, anywhere, that works flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: I use a Mac for all of my photo and video work now, because of a couple of different reasons. First, I can get stuff done quickly and make DVD or CD media quick enough using iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD, which come with each and every Mac. Second, and this is the number one reason for me, the Mac supports the use of a "Disk Image" mechanism. I can plug a card into my Mac, open the Disk Utility, select that card, click on the New Image button, and create an "Image" of that disk, onto my hard drive. The file will be named whatever I type, .dmg. Later, I can double click this file, and the OS will "mount" it up, as if I had slid the original disk back into the computer. Presto, I can reprocess or do whatever I want with the original content. I can name these disk images with dates, times, names etc to make them easy to find in a directory where I store them. Second, you can also do this "imaging" as an ISO image which you could then burn to disk media.

Pros: Average Performance

Cons: Locked up after 3 months and I lost all that was stored. Luckly I backed it up.

Other Thoughts: Stop buying these cards on price alone.
