2 out of 5 eggsADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: Gr8 price... if I can get it to be recognized

Cons: 1 yr old Dell W8.1 factory-installed OS doesn't recognize the usb (all updates have been installed on the PC).

Other Thoughts: probably Would recommend... if updated driver link (*Direct* link, NO ads*) could be provided
So far, I haven't found the 'correct' download it appears..............

5 out of 5 eggsGood Performance for Cost

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: These have good performance for the cost and I will be providing Crystal Disk Mark Results.

Metallic Body
Lifetime Limited Warranty

Cons: The cap is made of plastic and is lose-able however that is mitigated because it can attach at the but of the flash drive while you are using it.

Other Thoughts: AS PROMMISED

I bought these drives so that I may setup windows installers / Factory Images , tech tools etc... and the read speeds are going to be very refreshing as I am transitioning away from optical discs for those type of jobs.

I have made a bona-fide effort to comply with the Product Review Guidelines , if I have broken a review rule , or you would like some clarification , I will be happy to update my review.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Flash Drive

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: -Solid Construction
-Looks minimalistic and professional
-Surprising performance (USB 3.0) (See other thoughts)
-No stupid retraction mechanism

Cons: - Cap fastens well, but is retained by plastic, which I can see wearing down over time. Not a big deal, however.
- Can barely fit on a key ring. And I mean barely.

Other Thoughts: Last year I bought an ADATA UE700 32GB flash drive and its USB 3.0 performance was impressive. Unfortunately, carrying it around on my key chain all day scratched the plastic up badly and furthermore, the retraction mechanism on the drive broke not once, but TWICE. It was after this that I decided to look for a more durable flash drive that was also affordable and performed well. This is where this drive shines.

The construction is a very nice painted aluminum with a matte plastic end and cap. I'm sure the paint will scratch off at some point but I like the fact that the body is metal. The body does have one flaw, however which is also my biggest complaint about this flash drive. The hole on the end that's meant for a lanyard or something absolutely does not fit most size key rings. I had to hunt all over my house for a key ring small enough to fit the hole. I then had to cut a piece of the key ring so that the drive could actually dangle from it. It was ridiculous and a large oversight by ADATA, to be honest.

Performance is surprising. Newegg lists this as a drive able to read data at 100MB/s and write data at 50MB/s. I'm happy to report that during benchmarks this drive exceeded these specifications when connected to a USB 3.0 port.

Benchmark Tool: "USB Flash Benchmark"
Drive format: exFAT
Description: This tool tests writing and reading from 16MB down to 1KB with three different file sizes: 100MB, 10MB and 1MB.

Average Read Speeds: 119.28 MB/s
Average Write Speeds: 82.54 MB/s

I'm very pleased with these results. Solid performance, construction and competitive pricing make this a winner. Just make that key ring hole bigger!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Flash drive

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: Very solid build. Decent read and write speeds. I've erased this thing numerous times, filled it up too many times to count and never had any problems with it. I would definitely buy another Adata flash drive

Cons: The only con I've had with it is the white lettering on the outside has been worn off. Minor gripe but I can never remember what size drive this is. They could fix this by indenting the lettering in the case and filling it with white paint. Then the letters wouldn't get rubbed off in peoples' pockets.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this drive to anyone looking for a solid, dependable flash drive with decent speeds. It's not speed demon, but it's never failed me. I can't say that about a lot of other flash drives I've owned

5 out of 5 eggsNo Hard Drive Required!

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: I built a system without a hard drive and used this flash drive to boot and run linux. This system ran for six months, running prime95 without issues, until I finally broke down and bought an SSD.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsQuite decent for the price

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: Aluminum body, USB 3.0 compatible.

Cons: Cap can be removed a little too easily. No LED to indicate when the drive is being accessed.

Other Thoughts: Seems built to last. Wish the end cap snapped on to the body a little more securely. Using dd on a Kubuntu 14.04 system and inserted into a USB3.0 port, my write speed was 39 MB/sec, and read speed was 116 MB/sec. I'm quite happy with the performance and capacity, especially considering the price.

3 out of 5 eggsI never got those top speed at reading or writing

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: It is not too expensive

Cons: During real life copying of large files, 4,5 g bytes, I only got 80 mb something in reading and 20mb something in writing. I never got the 100mb in reading and 50 mb in writing as the advertisement stated. I guess someone to jack up the specification to lure more customer.

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: Still going good after 5 month. Forgot it in my pant and let it goes into the washing machine 2 time. Still come out and work if you let it dry. The speed didn't decrease. So pretty sturdy.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsVery good.

This review is from: ADATA S102 Pro 32GB Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive (Titanium Grey) Model AS102P-32G-RGY

Pros: I bought this drive for four key features.
1. USB 3.0
2. Aluminum construction.
3. A cap that connects to the body of the drive rather than sliding onto the end. (I have had the end part of a few different drives bend because the cap is in direct contact with the part that slides into the USB slot.)
4. The price was right.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I actually bought two of these. One I use for transferring files. The other I use as a persistent boot drive for Linux. I highly recommend this drive.
