5 out of 5 eggs3 yrs later and still working GREAT!

Pros: I use this as my CarbonCopyCloner Mac 10.6.8 bootable backup for my MacBook Pro. For storage it's excellent but for booting a backup it's slower but tolerable. I wouldn't run Logic or processor hungry apps off of this USB thumb drive but works great for Safari, emails and minor apps and/or backup. I even have a copy of SnowLeopard 10.6.8 since it boots faster than the SL DVD.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Should have bought a 2nd one for my wife's MBP.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive usually asks to be formatted

Pros: Good size drive, durable construction

Cons: Usually takes multiple tries before computer recognizes drive. I will unplug/replug into usb and will most likely get a message to format drive. I can't do this with computer backups on it. Maybe it is a lemon...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Acct2011,

I regret to hear that you had some issues with your Magnum drive. I'll be glad to assist you in the matter. Please send me an e-mail: support@patriotmem.com.

1 out of 5 eggsPatriot XPORTER Magnum 64GB

Pros: I don't know yet, because my bluray player says "usb flash drive incompatible"

Cons: the drive doesn't work in my bluray player even though my player has flawlessly played from all other usb flash drives.

Other Thoughts: this very well could be a great drive, but until I find out why it won't work in my bluray player, i'm just giving it 1 star.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear rlltms,

It sounds like it might be an issue with the file system of the flash drive. I would recommend to try and format the drive to fat, as it's more commonly used. For technical assistance in the matter, please send me an e-mail: support@patriotmem.com.

Regards,
Benjamin

5 out of 5 eggsDurable!!!

Pros: I just pulled this drive out of the washer with water pouring out of it. I had accidentally left it in my pocket before it went in. I was horrified, thinking it was ruined and all my data gone. But no! I hung it near the fireplace for an hour or so in a nice, toasty spot. Then I let it sit for a day. Plugged it in, and it came up just like normal. Wow, wow, wow!
Read and write speeds seem to be a bit faster than other flash storage that I have. But then again, I'm not picky with speed either.

Cons: The cap has a weak click fit. It will be fairly strong initially, then lose its strength with use. My cap will still click on, but a fairly weak tap or yank will easily make it fall off. I just put the cap in a drawer, and I carry the drive around without it.
It is also a bit bulky. It will likely interfere with an adjacent USB port.
Painted-on lettering and logo will eventually wear off.

Other Thoughts: I can easily overlook the cons. My primary concern with my flash drive is that it retains data with integrity. I keep passwords and software installation keys on my drive. I am glad I have this drive, and I would recommend it to anyone.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive, Lousy Cap

Pros: Great Capacity drive, not too large in size, Good speeds for a drive of this size

Cons: The Cap is horrible, it would fall off all the time, until i finally lost it one day on my university campus.

Other Thoughts: I would LOVE to give this drive 5 stars, but my lack of cap on this drive is leading to 3.

4 out of 5 eggsReasonable price, good speed, well built

Pros: Very solid build, quick read speed, nice lanyard/~16" USB cable extension, aluminum body for heat dissipation, LOTS of space, reasonable price

Cons: Bulky, write speed is ~1/3 read speed, not something you'd probably put on your key chain

Other Thoughts: I bought this drive for mobile storage. Primarily so that when we travel I can load up to 60 1GB ripped MP4 movies (~100 hours!) to keep the kids entertained, while reducing the battery drain by not running the hard drive (longer time between battery swaps/charging).

Since I've bought a couple of bad USB flash drives recently, the first thing I do is test it with h2testw, which writes 1GB files to fill the entire drive and read verifies them to ensure the drive is good. It reports 9.49 MByte/sec write, 27.2 MByte/sec read speeds over 64GB of data (~3.5 hours). While the read speed is definitely respectable, the write speed is a bit disappointing (good write speeds should be at least 1/2 the read speed).

The drive's size is a bit shocking. However, everything about this drive points to many years of durable, trouble free performance.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: I have had this drive for over a year now and it is still amazing. I haven't had any issues with it and I would recommend this to anyone willing to put the money on an investment like this.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I would buy this again if I lost this one.

5 out of 5 eggsMy, what a big flash drive you have!

Pros: It holds a lot of bits; pretty rugged; does not heat up during use

Cons: Cap is easily lost

Other Thoughts: I put an SSD in my notebook so I was really looking for extra space. This drive is big enough to hold anything, really. You can load an entire operating system, programs, etc. It's fast enough to view 1080 movies directly. And it's physically large enough not to heat up during use. The cap is easily lost though. I heartily recommend purchasing one of those silly little thumb drive cases to keep this in. I also recommend using the extension cable when plugged into your portable in case it gets bumped (it'll probably bend the USB plug).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: This is a great little drive. I have about 38 GB of music, and was able to store it all here and (as another reviewer did) use it with my Ford Sync system. It's amazing how fast the car indexes the music now instead of when I used my 80GB Zune -- less than a minute as opposed to about 15 minutes in the past -- and gaps between track playback is very small now.

Cons: No cons yet.

Other Thoughts: Seems very sturdy, and the red color fits with my car color. :-)
