The Patriot Memory Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 flash drive delivers unprecedented performance in a stylish form factor with storage capacities up to 128GB. A durable aluminum enclosure enables shock resistance up to 15Gs to ensure greater protection of your data. USB 3.0 technology enables the Patriot Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 to outperform USB 2.0 flash drives by up to 10x - a large 2GB file can transfer in mere seconds to and from the Patriot Supersonic Magnum. By combining a single-chip USB 3.0 flash memory controller with 8-Channel technology, the Patriot Supersonic Magnum delivers sequential read performance at speeds up to 200MB/s and up to 120MB/s sequential write speeds.

  • newegg Single-chip USB 3.0 Design with 8-Channel Technology The Patriot Supersonic Magnum series eliminates performance bottlenecks introduced when using a separate USB 3.0 bridge chip by integrating a native USB 3.0 flash memory controller. This results in a smaller footprint and higher performance than bridge-based solutions. By pairing the controller with Patriot 8-Channel technology, the Patriot Supersonic Magnum achieves sequential read speed up to 200MB/s and sequential write speed up to 120MB/s.
  • newegg Ultra Durable and Portable A durable aluminum enclosure enables shock resistance up to 15Gs for better protection of your data. And a smaller physical size of the Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 flash drive allows for even greater portability and style.
  • newegg A rating of 9/10 from Modders-Inc.com The “lightning fast” and “light wight” Supersonic drive has won a rating of 9/10! “Sharing files, traveling from place to place, from work to home and back, it can’t get much easier and faster than with the Patriot Supersonic USB 3.0 Flash Drive.” “For another comparison test I ran a test on a Hitachi SATA 3GB drive and it too was beaten down by the Patriot Supersonic flash drive, but it did not come in last as it whipped the tar out of the "so-called" USB 3.0 drive from Western Digital. The Patriot Supersonic Flash Drive was 68% faster on the Read and 12% faster on the Write.” Read the full article by following the link: http://www.modders-inc.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=351

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Well built, fast.

Cons: Someone needs to come up with a cap design that will not get lost. Just a small nit. This is a generic issue that applies to a lot of the drives.

A bit wide, I use an extension cable when needed.

5 out of 5 eggsBest backup device ever

Pros: Very quick, had sustained 100MB/s write of 60Gb, probably source limited hard drive.

Cons: It did get warm to the touch filling the device 1/2 full.

Other Thoughts: Great for computer backup or file transfer to remote location.

4 out of 5 eggsHappy except FAT32 is annoying

Pros: Memory Size:
128 GB - and being usb is primarily why I purchased this.

Write Speed:
I used USB3 @ ~70MB/s for 80GB of stuff. Packaging lists 120MB/s max, so it didn't get that for me, but could be my setup, i dunno - and it wasn't slow to me in real time . To me, I don't care about 70 vs 120 (write speed).

Cost-physical size:
I like the thumb drive size for backup, because prior backups of mine used PATA drives I now have to deal with and upgrade. USB I'm hoping will last for quite some time into the future, so my backups can be updated more easily to new computers. So for ~$1/GB it's not cheap, but considering the medium I like it.

Cons: I did not realize it comes with FAT32, and so my large > 4GB files will not go onto the thumb drive. At least not without me having to change some things, which is also less "parent friendly". Or split the large files. Parent friendly to me is important for these thumb drives.

I chose this brand and stick for the capacity to backup family photos and videos. Not many files are super huge, but some files are > 4GB, so i was shocked to see the notification that a "file is too big for device." I'm used to working with very large files at my work, so this seems like it should be a problem of the past, but I guess it's not.

This is not the worst problem to have, but it is a nuisance and is enough so to me that i'm writing this review, and is reason for 4 eggs instead of 5.

Other Thoughts: I am still happy with it overall.

I bought this instead of the corsair memory stick, because my friend had a 16GB one he had to get replaced, and the reviews seemed it was a common problem. I previously liked corsair memories, but my friends' issue and my past issues with RAM for my current cpu have really set me back on their memory quality.

So i'm trying this brand, and to date I'm happy with this memory stick, though I've only had it a short while, everything advertised is working properly.

5 out of 5 eggsStunning performance

Pros: Super fast, large capacity, holds very large files

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased to backup virtual machine image that is 68gb. Out of the package it's Fat32 formatted. Tested 2 files at first, both 800mb. Copied each in under 4 seconds. So I threw my single 68gb file - yes, that's gigabytes, a single Parallels pvm file (I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on a Macbook Pro Retina - and it transferred the 68gb in just under 8 minutes. Yes people, Under 8 min for 68gb! Schwing!

5 out of 5 eggs2nd Magnum

Pros: Fast read and write for the large files I keep on it. Patriot is one of the best and this lives up to that.

Cons: Slower on small files, but that is true of all thumb drives. Not really a con for me since I mostly use it for large files...mostly...

Other Thoughts: This is my second Patriot Magnum (I just wanted to upgrade, my previous 64GB Magnum is still working great). I swear by Patriot memory, it is definitely one of the best brands.

3 out of 5 eggsMay be bad

Pros: 128GB of storage...can't remember real size, but hey...it's pretty big

Cons: A few cons...

#1...It's BIG, but I knew that going in to it, so no eggs off for that.

#2...Having a lot of slow transfer issues. I've been in touch with Corsair and they think it's bad. I've got it hooked up to a SIIG USB 3.0 card w/newest drivers. Still slow. Been waiting about 2 weeks now for a response from Corsair for the RMA I filed...and still nothing. 2 eggs off for the issue & slow response for the RMA.

#3...Wish it wasn't so "wide". I don't mind it being a large case...but the width blocks anything next to it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat service and product

Pros: Only have USB 2.0 and know that USB is faster at one large file than many small files, understanding this, this drive is fast and reliable

Cons: Wasn't able to test this on USB 3.0 yet

5 out of 5 eggsPatriot Supersonic 128GB 3.0- Pocket Wonder

Pros: 1. Size ( Storage capacity )
2. Speed.
3. It has "Magnum" printed on the aluminium body.

CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 x64 clocked it on my system:
Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge @ 4.4ghz
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68 MOBO

5x 10000MB
Seq Read 238.4 MB/s Write 123.1 MB/s
512K Read 162.5 MB/s Write 1.296 MB/s
4k Read 6.739 MB/s Write 1.167 MB/s

I store Live VM ware instances 11-35 GB in size and use it for Photo and video transfer.

Cons: 1. Cost.
2. Slow on small file transfers.
3. It will block other USB dongles / Memory sticks due to it's width.

Other Thoughts: One could mistake it for a stubby blue highlighter.

When plugged into my laptop in a work environment I am a little worried about it getting smacked or crushed. Be mindful of this little expensive wonder.

The cost is half the Hyper-x..... So not too shabby on the affordability.

It sits inside of a nice CaseLogic 2USB pouch/keyring when not in use :)
