5 out of 5 eggsThis is NOT just a flash drive, it's much more.

Pros: Amazing construction, these feel bombproof.
Built in enterprise grade security.
Extremely fast read & write, regardless of 2.0 or 3.0 port.
Gives you the ability to use your desktop & programs on just about any pc.

Cons: None. I would say price, but you get what you pay for with Ironclads.

Other Thoughts: Once you follow the instructions (if needed) and get your new Ironclad set up you can plug it into just about any pc, enter your key and your desktop will pop up, along with any other programs you installed to your Ironkey. You could use one as a secure boot drive with antivirus and spybot to clean infected computers if that's your thing, I use one of my smaller capacity ones for that purpose, I use my 16gb and 32gb to carry an image of my windows and large amounts of patient files and MRI & CT scans. I have access to all of my patients on my 32gb Ironclad, so I know they're secure even if I lost the drive, and it saves me from needing to carry my laprop, I just take over someone else's as needed.

5 out of 5 eggsSecure, Solid, & Reliable Workhorse,

Pros: Although the expense scares many people away before giving it a serious look, this flash drive stands far above the competition in its features:
*SECURE: best AES-256 security available in a consumer class USB flash drive; HARDWARE based encryption (can't be turned off) with "self destruction" protection for brute force log-in attempts if it's lost or stolen (data destruction only...device will not explode James Bond-style!!) .
**SOLID - unit is made with a dense metal outer case and a solid resin-filled interior making it 100% waterproof and tamper-proof; cap lined with rubber gasket.
***RELIABLE - MAJOR feature: Uses "Single Level Cell - SLC" flash memory, not the standard MLC flash memory used by 95%+ of all other USB flash drives on the market, allowing for up to 100,000 read/write cycles (versus 10,000 with MLC) withstanding extreme temperatures as well; I have owned/used 2 other IRONKEY drives (2GB & 4GB) for the past 4 years with flawless performance.

Cons: Expense
*(BUT...not really a con - worth pointing something out): Expensive when looking soley at "cost/bit" for flash memory, BUT when the TYPE of flash memory is considered (SLC versus MLC), the cost "playing field" is leveled because your data can be accessed/changed up to 10X get what you pay for and sustained reliability isn't cheap, but if you value your data and its security, you will make the $$$ sacrifice.

*Is personally identifiable,
**Would possibly cause harm if accessed by unintended audiences (e.g. harm to your finances, reputation, credibility, trade secrets, etc),
***Is required by your employer to be kept secure at all times, or
****Is irreplaceable (historical family photos or documents, scanned documents that have since been destroyed, etc.),
*****Is subjected to extreme environmental conditions (e.g. my IRONKEY drives have been subjected to the washing machine, to temperatures ranging from -10 to 140 F, and exposed to rain/snow...with no interruption in performance!).

*Generic, not traceable to any sensitive person, company, or employer,
**Easily replaceable or backed-up in several locations you have unlimited access to,
***Not subjected to harsh or demanding environments.

Hope this helps in your purchasing decision!

5 out of 5 eggsSLC flash, not MLC!

Pros: You all can read without my help about Encryption, Passwords, etc. But what some people may miss is a detailed Datasheet, it says this part# S200 (not D200) is using SLC flash, not MLC! You can research for yourself why SLC is FAR BETTER for critical data. Also unlike Personal or Enteprise versions (whether S200 or D200 flavors of each), there's no software to install or addons most single users don't need, unless you Administer some corporation or work for CIA which requires to "kill" drive remotely if stolen.
I am buying 2nd unit - this time from Newegg, I got 1st from anothe rplace last year but there's a reason I am ordering 2nd here.

Cons: Crazy price per GB? Not a real "con" - just a reflection of how unique this device is, no competition!

Other Thoughts: It was my dream many years ago when best USBflashdrives could offer was a weak Soft password, so finicky I had to actually disable it before using at school/work & renable after use.
Now Ironkey has made my dream possible. I store some Defense/Telecom design work on it, which, if stolen, can hurt my company so badly so I decided to spend $$$ on Ironkey to stay safe. It's worth the money, I just wish tere was more competition to bring costs down.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible little device

Pros: Awesome little indestructible USB drive. All-metal. Cap is rubber compression gasket. Great feature set, pre-installed software for web browsing and a virtual keyboard that can be used anywhere.

Cons: Slow to log on. I don't think it can be improved much but when you plug the drive in, count to 20 and the log-in screen appears.

Other Thoughts: I was in the military for a while and indestructible goods are de rigueur. This might be overkill for some. However, I travel quite a bit and when you can't take a netbook or laptop with you, this little thing allows you to securely surf the web, check your bank accounts and do online shopping comfortably from random computers. Hotels in Europe and Asia are where it is most easy to have your identity stolen. I cannot recommend this more for travelers - I'd go so far as say this is required.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Flash Drive Security

Pros: Hardware encryption, very secure, does exactly what I purchased it for. This model has built-in password manager, FF browser and enough room for additional personal apps and data storage.

Cons: No device is 100% secure on a public machine, but this comes about as close as you can get. IronKey model numbers and names are a bit confusing and Newegg tech details are not sufficient for model comparison so check the IronKey website first.

Other Thoughts: Know what you are buying and read setup carefully before you start. If you exceed the allowed password attempts unsuccessfully it fries, no recovery, no reformat, and you then own an expensive keyring fob. This is one of the security features you are buying, so be careful. Can sync with site to manage several keys and to backup passwords. Came with built-in FF 3.5, but easily updated to latest FF 3.6.6
