Impressed. Mico-small. Solid. Works well.
-
- Pros: PROs Key Points:
1. TINY! Virtually microscopic. (See video) 2. Tiny doesn't mean a thing if it doesn't work. THIS WORKS WELL. No U3. XP installs it quickly with no trouble. Works fine on nearly all computers. 3. Fast. (Fast enough. See comments) 4. Solid, metal case, tough, water-resistant.
PROs Comments: • Size: Most of you seriously won't appreciate how small this is. The product info pics don't help at all. See my video! It's like it's not even there. THAT's what I'm talkin' about. Check out the simple, slick, $1.75 way I attached it to my key ring for instant removal and reattachment. • On several different computers with USB 2.0 ports I had read speeds around 13-19 MB/sec and write speeds around 6-7 MB/sec. That was with a variety of large and small files including Office docs, music files, videos, PDFs, JPGs, etc. (P.S. I can't guarantee the health of those PCs or of their USB controllers with regards to measured transfer rates.)
- Cons: CON Key Points:
1. Tight in some USB ports (around 10% of ports)
CONs Comments: • Some reviews have mentioned that this drive seems a bit larger than it should be and is very tight in some USB ports. This is true, BUT... I have inserted this drive into at least 20 different USB ports on 12 different PCs and laptops and I'd say 2 or 3 were very tight, the rest were just snug. It totally depends on the type of port you have. Some ports are designed to be resilient—they accommodate any drive with approximately the same resistance to insertion and removal. On the other hand other ports are not designed as well and they are sloppy loose with small-ish drives and scary tight with large-ish drives. But for what it's worth, the few ports that were very tight didn't actually make me think anything was going to break. After living with it real-world for a couple weeks now I'm not worried at all anymore. Insignificant (or infrequent) enough that I won't knock my score down from 5 stars for i
- Other Thoughts: One more thing. Maybe this is a con for the Pico, but maybe it's my crummy, budget computer. I had no functional trouble with 11 of 12 computers I used it on. But just one PC out of the 12 would lose its connection with the PICO during transfer of medium & large files, then it would reconnect again within like 5 seconds. It's not that it wouldn't transfer the file, because after reconnection the entire file showed up moved or copied like it was supposed to be. The problem is you don't only want to copy one file at a time, you want to copy folders full of files or groups of files too, and when it disconnects during some particular file it won't proceed with the remainder of other files it didn't yet transfer. I'm not blaming the drive or lowering my score because it happened on only one PC out of a dozen, and I honestly can't say if it's the PC. My guess is it's just drawing too much current and needs a powered USB hub.
RECOMMENDATION: Buy it. Tether it well. You'll be happy.
Great, small and reasonably fast!
- Pros: Small and pretty fast! Installed portableapps on it and have a few truecrypt volumes too! Works wonderfully
- Cons: They were out of the 8GB version when I bought this one...
- Other Thoughts: People say this is a slow device. I don't find it to be slow. sure, it's not as fast as a hard drive but very usable. Here are some tests I performed:
# dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/disk/test100MB.file b s=1M count=100 100+0 records in 100+0 records out 104857600 bytes (105 MB) copied, 11.5904 s, 9.0 MB/s # hdparm -t /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb: Timing buffered disk reads: 88 MB in 3.06 seconds = 28.74 MB/sec
A 100MB file full of zeros transfered at 9 MB/sec, hdparm showed unbuffered reads as 28.74MB/s which is on par with the specs.

Stopped working 8gb model
- Pros: VERY SMALL! Durable, solid, tight fit (wont fall out) great gift for tech people, easy to use, I loved it!
- Cons: too tight of fit so you cant put it in (rarely) or pull it out, I had to use pliers once to pull it out. easy to lose. no room on it to breath, it get's really hot and cooks itself
- Other Thoughts: I had this (Pico_C 8gb) for around 6months and only used it to play music in my car stereo. It was small so I didnt have to worry about it being bumped and bent in the stereo, plus it held around 60-80 hours of my music and it all played flawlessly for the most part.
The trouble happened when I was managing my music with Windows AND Ubuntu and several media player, eventually my music had so much tracking stuff on it and was used by different OS's that my stereo didnt read some of it, so I formatted and only used Windows to put music on and it worked fine. Well, same thing happened again, this time, permenatly. The USB drive is fried, I cant take my music back off of it, and the stereo wont read it. I've tried everything. I'm going to buy a bigger drive hoping it wont cook itself due to small size and no room to breath. Great for transfering data couple times a day or week, but I used this thing for several hours straight per day, and it just didnt last.
Fantastic
- Pros: This is a fantastic device, it really is it is virtually indestructible it is tiny light and plenty fast. for you everyday user it is an awesome device...
- Cons: None what so ever
- Other Thoughts: the only thing i can think of is that the fit into most computers is a little tight, but this is certainly not a bad thing, and there is no cap or cover of any kind though i guess a cap or cover would add to the size and detract from the appeal
Tugh lil USB drive
- Pros: looks good
small water proof
- Cons: none really, could be faster, but for the size, it's AWSOME
