4 out of 5 eggsGreat box, just a SMALL issue

Pros: I have 3 of these unit and using it for running advertisement video clips on big screen TV at work. Great box. It can play almost every HD video format file.

Cons: Every time the next video file is played, it pop up the message "Audio Channel 1". It's really bothering when you have several short video clips playing repeatedly.

Other Thoughts: I contact Iomega tech support and here is what they say

".... No, this is the first, I've heard of this, and I just checked with my Advance team and they say there is no way to disable this...."

Even though I'm watching a movie clips, every time it change to the next video clips, the message "Audio Channel 1" pop up and ruin the mood.

I have tried different way like:
HDMI for video and audio output
HDMI for video output and RCA audio output

but the message still popup at the beginning when you watch.

This box is great comparing to at least 5 other brand media player that I tested. But just a little small issue and hope the tech team can come up with the solution soon.

I don't see the message "Audio Channel 1" is not really help at all.

3 out of 5 eggsInterface and networking are fast...

Pros: This device starts up and connects to our NAS very fast. That's a major upgrade from the WD TV device that' we're trying to replace. The GUI responds fast. Movies play smoothly.

Cons: There's no autoplay option. WD TV has the option to start playing files from a USB drive.. no such option in the iomega. This would be a great add-on for a firmware update, but I doubt iomega will bother.

In this device's menu you must choose whether you're browsing for photos, videos, or music. Why, iomega? It's all media... WD had this part figured out... in the WD TV menu, you could browse files of photo/video at the same time.

Other Thoughts: I was hoping to replace 4 of the WD TV boxes with these iomegas, but we'd need the autoplay functionality: Every morning we power on the 4 devices and they play media for the public in our business. Do we want to navigate the iomega menu every morning on 4 devices? No thanks.

Manufacturer Response:

We will pass along your suggestion of an autoplay option to our product development team. Thank you for the suggestion.

5 out of 5 eggsIomega screen play

Pros: Small, works like a champ, does everything masterfully. Little keyboard is a neat twist that makes browsing a snap. This does what they claim and it is rock solid stable.

Cons: I like this little fella too much to say anything bad about it.

Other Thoughts: It gets a little warm, so when you are not using it, turn it off. It has an indicator LED, blue for on, red for off. Just make sure that when you are done, the LED is red.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great !!!

Pros: Through the Web browser you can watch Hulu. The review before mine said you couldn't watch Hulu Plus, Not sure since I don't have an account. I was able to try every aspect out before I wrote this. I ran it through the paces and it runs perfectly ! 99% of my movie watching is in .iso format which it plays nicely through a 64GB usb drive or my 1TB external hard drive. It even lets you watch Netflix in 1080p which was a shock....
As long as you have fast internet, you'll be very happy!

Cons: I wish it had a internal hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Buy it, try it out, if you don't like it, you have 30 days return policy. But, I am willing to bet you wont return it.

4 out of 5 eggsVery best you can get for your money!

Pros: This is a very functional device (has a power button on the remote unlike the cheap Roku) and also has a very functional remote (albeit a little complicated). It will do anything you ask of it and stream anything with excellent quality. I would highly recommend you pair it with the Home Media Network Hard Drive - Cloud Edition. I also tested streaming Netflix with my Android phone using it as a hostpot with very low bandwidth (we are talking 1mb down here!) and it worked great. I also like the device includes a complimentary wireless n adapter and hdmi cable. This device even has a browser included and it worked great on CNN with videos!~

Cons: Priced slightly more than competition (you do get more however)
Advanced Remote (could be viewed by some as complicated and others may find this to be a joy)

Other Thoughts: GUI seems weak (not cheap like Roku though) and repetitiously scrolls through the same options in a circular motion (probably should be simpler with a horizontal scroll like the competition)
No Hulu Plus (not that you could even watch any Hulu Plus content anyway as the majority is still only viewable via web - they should die just for being owned by the corporate parents of ABC, Fox and NBC)
