5 out of 5 eggsGood Set up Nice Board

Pros: Sweet and comfortable 2 second set up, plug in and bang you are set.
Good range, I have this set up for the big screen TV/entertainment system across the room, and in the console good connection

Cons: No con

Other Thoughts: I have this one for my main keyboard and, in the game room, and for the lap top, it is super! Good battery life too. Perfect for stuffing in a bag to travel, beats the tar out of sitting in a hotel room working on a tiny laptop keyboard. The best of both worlds. It is all about comfort.

1 out of 5 eggsMouse problems

Pros: Bought this Microsoft 5000 usb keyboard and mouse to help get rid of the clutter on my desk. Keyboard works great takes some getting used to.

Cons: But the mouse , it speeds up, gets lost, won,t move and locks up my computer. I use Windows 7 No drivers. Old ones do not work.
Went back to my old one that connect with a cable.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor wireless connection to computer

Pros: Physical keyboard and mouse feel nice to the touch

Cons: Wireless connection to computer is unacceptably poor

Other Thoughts: I just built a nice video editing computer with an Intel i5820K processor and I bought this keyboard and mouse to go with it. The physical keyboard and mouse are just fine but the wireless connection to the computer is the reason that I gave this item 1 star. Sometimes the computer will not register keys that I type when I’m typing fast and sometimes the mouse movements are very disconnected with the cursor on the screen. This is very frustrating! When I use a wired keyboard and mouse these issues go away. Cordless keyboards and mouse’s look cool but you might want to consider the benefits of a corded system.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for us

Pros: Maybe we just got lucky but myself and another co-worker have had these for about 1 1/2 years. I've had absolutely NO issues at all that have been described here. The other user pretty much trashes her's, food, drink, you name it...I cleaned it all up for the next user and she also loves it.

Cons: I agree with the others on the smaller F keys. Not a big deal as I don't use them much. As far as Win7 goes, the keys work for me but I also installed drivers for this keyboard. Don't know if that made a difference or not.

Other Thoughts: I work in I.T. and pound away at this keyboard. I also love the mouse's shape. Took a little bit to get used to it but it feels great now. The other user(s) are managers that also use this keyboard a lot. They've been great for both of us and I'm writing this as I am purchasing another one.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The product looked good but...

Cons: The wireless dongle was bad. It installed but the wifi would cutout when the system goes to sleep and system would make plug/unplug sounds like when you plug & unplug the dongle. I have to reboot the system each time to get the wireless back.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend the product if mine wasn't bad. The most disapointing thing was that Newegg won't refund or replace the product because I bought it just over 30 days ago. I could understand if I used it for 6 months but this product was bad out of the box. It took this long to ask for a refund because my customer didn't call me about the problem right away and now I have to buy another out of pocket.

2 out of 5 eggsTiny Escape Key and F-Keys

Pros: Keyboard Pros:
Comfort Curve
Low-profile, almost scissor-style-like key travel
Nice rubberized palm rest
F-lock to keep F-keys in preferred mode

Mouse Pros:
Great battery life
Blu-light technology
Good size
Low-resistance Scroll-wheel (scrolling is not "clicky")

Cons: Practically-unusable Esc and F1, F2, etc. keys. They are about a third of the height of a standard key, and have a fraction of the depth in key travel, so pressing them is an exercise in digging the very tip of your finger into (and I do mean INTO) the keyboard. Feels like you're pressing something that shouldn't normally be pressed, like a reset button on the computer.

Other Thoughts: As a developer, I use the Escape and F-keys regularly, and so the key size and travel issues mentioned were deal-breakers for me. Since I got the combo on sale, it was worth it to keep the set for the mouse alone, so after a week of trying to live with the keys, I boxed the keyboard and have used only the mouse since purchasing it. Buyer beware, if you use the Escape or F-keys regularly, do NOT buy this keyboard/combo!

5 out of 5 eggsBEST DEAL IN TOWN

Pros: I say ignore the people who are rating this at 1 or 2 eggs because I have owned and purchased over three of these bad boys for use in my office, home and tree house! I love the product because of the way the materials feel and the level of precision you can control on this model allows you to program any key giving you total versatility. Ironically I think Microsoft missed their calling and should have gone into the hardware business rather then the software business because they make some of the best keyboards in the world. Don't believe me, just look at the Sidewinder Keyboard model, the ratings are off the chart. I would be sad if this model was ever discontinued, its a very well crafted engineering marvel and don't waste your time looking for anything else or reading another review; take it from an ultra geek, stop over thinking and make the decision to buy it today!

Cons: I wish it had the ability to illuminate keys with different color choices when gaming in the dark or came with a remote control to navigate video chapters when watching movies or adjust the volume when listening to music while cooking in the kitchen.

Other Thoughts: Still a little pricey, but totally worth it!

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: * Visually appealing and comfortable

Cons: * Almost immediately, keys were sticking
* Function keys are recessed, making them difficult to use
* Action buttons have a much higher resistance than any other keys
* Mouse does not work well on white surface

Other Thoughts: If you're a "casual" user, this keyboard/mouse might be good for you - if you spend all day on the keyboard and need to use the function keys, I'd recommend going with a different set.

Overall build quality seems fine, but keys shouldn't be sticking within the first week of operation - and recessing the function keys was a major design fumble, in my opinion.

Finally, the white surface problem seems like a mis-advertisement - it certainly isn't glass and is a solid surface.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible value.

Pros: It works! There is never any lag between typing/moving mouse and seeing it appear on the screen.
It has great range. I can easily type from a distance of 15+ feet. I use it from my couch - my desktop is across the room (~8 feet).
Battery life is pretty good with rechargeable batteries. I have to replace them maybe once a month. Maybe less often, I don't really keep up.
Durable. I've dropped the mouse off my couch several times and short of the batteries popping out it hasn't ever sustained any real damage. I've had this thing for about 3 years now.
It feels great. The mouse is large and it fits my hand perfectly. The buttons are exactly in the right location.

Cons: I had a couple of keys stop working a few weeks ago. I had to pop out the keys and clean under them. Once I popped them back in all is good again.
Really there isn't anything wrong with this. It does exactly what a keyboard and mouse should do.

Other Thoughts: Don't hesitate to buy this combo. It's well worth the price.
