4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: simple to use when all you need is a controller or MIDI input device; touch sensitive

Cons: Doesn't come with external power cord. Some computers can't put out enough power through the USB in order to reliably get it working and keep it working.

Other Thoughts: I've hooked these keyboards up to a bunch of computers and found that when the device seems not to work, an external power cord does the trick.

I have not used the included software. I use this with Finale, and it works great. The device is more dependable than Finale or Windows, which have to be restarted periodically because of MIDI issues that arise.

4 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: I've been playing keys for about a year and music for about ten. I've always been sort of a tech geek but haven't made the [expensive] transfer from acoustic to electric until now. I bought this for use with Cubase and the impOSCar virtual synth, with which this keyboard works awesome.
On with the Pros:
-The keys are semi-weighted. The resistance has sort of a spongy feel to it, which is nice.
-The response is nice, and the velocity/pressure-sensitive keys have been working great for me.
-The 49 keys are more than enough for any synth project I would need. Unless you have the space and absolutely need another octave or two on your desk, 49 is perfect for most playing applications. It also comes with handy octave up/down keys so if you need that extra octave boost (or two, or three) its only a quick press away. You can extend to any reasonably pitched note this way, anything outside of the range would be practically inaudible.

Cons: -The Pitch Bend wheel has a weird feel to it compared to what I'm used to. The resistance is somewhat high and it slowly springs back to its origin position. I can still use it fine and its more of a slight annoyance than an issue.
-No knobs or sliders except for the one somewhat cheap-feeling volume slider, but that comes with a nice price break.
-The CD that came with it didn't even load on my computer, seemed to have some problem with my OS. Unsure why (Using XP Home SP3).... Got the drivers online and they worked fine.
-Had to install the ASIO4ALL driver to help with response time. If you are having problems with this (you press a key and hear no response for a half second or more) you can download it free. This is probably an issue with my sound card.

Other Thoughts: Got the whole thing working in around 20 minutes out of the box and have loved every minute of playing it since. Virtual synthesizers are definitely the way to go for professional sounds and recording purposes without blowing huge bucks on an expensive synth or keyboard.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Wide range (if you're playing something where you need more than 49 keys, you should probably own a larger one already.)

Instant recognition with Mixcraft 4 (You have to install drivers on XP or Vista, but Macs instantly recognize them)

Cons: Keys not weighted, not really a big deal, though.

Other Thoughts: I got this as a present from my girlfriend, who bought it at the Apple store, but I'm really glad she did.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Keyboard

Pros: I bought this the other day at best buy. Making melodies with the mouse just doesn't cut it anymore.

This keyboard is great. It has a lot of keys, a pitch bend, and buttons to increase or decrease octave.

The keys all work, very responsive. Not really much else I wanted.

Windows XP picked it up and installed it within 15 seconds, and Sony ACID Pro 6.0 also recognized it instantly.

Software includes some loops. That's nice.

Cons: A little expensive IMO but worth it.

Also, the software is useless. The loops are nice, but don't count on using it unless you absolutley have nothing else. Even like the free Acid 5.0 demo is better. Copy the soundpool from the CD and throw it out :P

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have room somewhere, lol.
It fits perfectly on the edge of my desk (I still have an old CRT monitor), but I don't know where it would have gone otherwise.

Pros: very nice keyboard, does everything i need it to, very feature laden. works great with cubase, had it plugged in and working after a few minutes. sturdy and reliable.

Cons: did not come with monitor. i am in the process of contacting m-audio about this. people need to stop making false claims. i had to use an older monitor for several days because of this.

Other Thoughts: be warned people - this does not come with a monitor

5 out of 5 eggsWorth Every Cent

Pros: This product works like its supposed to. There were some driver issues but M-Audio has seemed to work them out. This keyboard has good response, the modulation and pitch wheels work good and the build is solid.

Cons: Umm, Drivers can be a little stubborn.....

Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the investment

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: When your computer detects it, it does its job well. Easy install, software is user friendly. Generally a good beginning keyboard... if you can get it working on your computer...

Cons: I couldn't get it to work on my computer. Installed latest drivers, reinstalled several times, plugged into different usb ports, disabled and took out sound card, even changed operating systems (from xp media center to xp professional).
Interestingly enough, I had no problems at all installing this on my sisters computer. I ended up returning it, losing $30 on restocking and shipping...

Other Thoughts: I wasn't the only one with this issue... I did some research trying to find a solution, and other people seem to be having a similar problem, with no 100% working solution. Granted, there wasn't a lot about this keyboard in general, so its probably just a rare problem?

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Great for someone starting out who wants to make some basic music, software is not the best but for what you pay and if your beginning its something fun to fool around with.

Cons: None really, not the greatest product but not the worst, does what I want it to.

Other Thoughts: I am impressed with this product. The software is ok, nothing fancy, just your basic music creation stuff, have not tried to use it with other programs, the little dongle it comes with for recording guitar is ok, but you need to get a mixer or something, only tried recording guitar once, but the number 1 thing that impresses me the most is i spilled a 44 ounce soda on this keyboard, i instantly grabbed it tried to shake out all loose liquid, turning it upside down and all, let it sit for a day or two, then opened it up, cleaned up any sticky stuff i could, put it back together and still worked, soda was on the electronics and everywhere, that is something i can respect!
