5 out of 5 eggsPoseidon Z

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: Solidly built. Backlit. Mechanical. Not going to break the bank when you buy it.

Cons: Some keys feel inconsistent. My cap locks light and scroll lock light do not light up.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a second mechanical keyboard. My first was a CM Storm. It had Cherry Red keys in it and it is fine for gaming but wanted something better to type on when doing my everyday stuff. This one was around the perfect price. Have to say, it really is a nice keyboard. Full size backlit mechanical keyboard for this price was way to good to pass up on. I don't regret buying it but there are few things about it that are going to bug me. The cap locks light being the only real big thing. Not sure why that bothers me so much but it does. Just me I guess. Other then that, I would buy another one in a heart beat.

1 out of 5 eggsKeys stopped working

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: Heavy duy. Looks nice. Easy o ype

Cons: TThe keys sopped working, especially he "T" key, you can ell jus by reading his post. Someimes i works, and hen it types 2 or 3 in a row. Now I have to RMA the stupid tthing, they are charging me FULL MSRP while they wait for the broken one. This is not what I expecetd when I paid $80 for a heavy duy mechanical keyboard. I would have been beter off gettting he $12 microsof keyboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
The Poseidon Z is an amazing keyboard and we're postive you'll love it once your RMA replacement is received. Our advance service RMA requires a charge as a deposit for the replacement. The full charge amount will be refunded to you once the defective unit has been received.

3 out of 5 eggsNice so far, but the backlighting....

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: Keyboard is very fast. The key spacing is very good and I feel like I can type significantly faster and more accurately on this than my previous keyboard. For example, I typed the previous sentence at 100% accuracy. The keyboard itself is heavy - in a good way. It feels very solid and feels like it was last a long time.

The key markings are still pretty visible without the back lighting, which is good because....see cons.

The backlighting is under each key, and the light doesn't bleed around the keys too much (very minimal) like some cheaper backlit keyboards. This is a very nice thing, as the only parts of the keyboard you really see in the dark is the actual symbols on each of the keys.

Cons: The backlighting is really distracting. The color is that same blue that you have on most LCD monitors power light, the really blinding one that is on every single electronic device made in the last 10 years and it is a horrible thing. I was hoping the color on the box - a more of a light sky blue - would be the color of the backlighting, but no. It's the deeper "cool blue led" color which I personally hate.

Though the actual color might be just my personal preference, the flicker is not. The LED's seem to be flickering. You know when you see a cars LED tail lights in the car ahead of you, and it's a little flickery especially when you look from side to side? The back lighting on the keyboard is like that - at all 4 brightness levels. If you have a bigger monitor, (i am on 24), and look from side to side in a game a lot (like in a RTS when looking at the map), you will notice it and it is pretty distracting.

Also, the back lighting seems to be under the top side of the key, so the second symbol (for example, the "&" under the 7) is VERY dim by comparison at all light levels - and considering the color of Blue LED's makes the eyes strain more than Red would, the blindingly bright Blue makes the symbols pretty hard to see until your eyes adjust.

Also, and this isn't as much of a con as it is an inherent feature of the type of keys, but it is pretty loud especially if you type pretty fast. I don't know if I would consider it a con, but more of an FYI - mechanical keyboards are pretty loud.

Other Thoughts: The keys themselves feel really good to type on. They feel solid, and I feel like I can really beat the keys down without breaking them which is handy when gaming and you really really need to jump, or whatever.

A note to thermaltake - If this keyboard came with the function of being able to set the color yourself, using tri-color LED's instead of BLUE only, I am certain this keyboard would be more successful. I would love to have this thing in RED to match the lighting of my computer. The keyboard itself is really nice and I don't really want to return it because there aren't any options of similar quality that I can find which have the red lighting I would want. I will probably at some point void my warranty and replace all of the LED's myself with red ones. (Note: I don't recommend this action for the common user - I work with electronics a lot and know a thing or two!)

So, customizable colors (for example, like the Logitech GX9 mouse) would be FANTASTIC. Also, constant-on LED's would be great (the GX9 also has this).

A second (even slightly dimmer) LED under the bottom of the key would also be good. (Maybe make this one a second customizable color - that would be amazing!)

Otherwise, the function of this keyboard is really nice. The keys feel great, the back lighting under each key is really nice (other than the mentioned complaints I have about the back lighting)

FYI To thermaltake - the cost of the above would be an extra 5 dollars per keyboard, but I'd pay an extra 40 for it.

Hope this helps someone!

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: This is the cheapest good mechanical keyboard and delivers great gaming performance for the price. Also very quick to type on.

Cons: No wrist pad, but a lot of people don't like those anyways, so it's a personal preference thing. Can't change LED color either.

Other Thoughts: Best value in a mechanical keyboard.

1 out of 5 eggsPerhaps simply a mishap, but a fatal one for this user experience

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: responsive
Blue switches (personal)
affordable
5 year warranty
Backlighting ranging from Dim to very bright
Rubber stoppers to limit movement while in use.

Cons: Specific keys double register often ("s", "m", "1") Making game-play utterly impossible.

Same keys and others simply don't register at all on a few rare occasions

Other Thoughts: While I am inquisitive as to whether mine is simply a defective unit and I simply need to cash in the 5 year warranty only a week out of the box or this is a frequent issue this was a major disappointment to me.

Looking at other low rated reviews of this product I see that some people had identical issues, so be weary with this product. Seems to be a quality build at an affordable price, but seems to have a few nasty ones in the system.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We apologize about the negative experience thus far. Please contact Customer Service so we can have the keyboard replaced for you immediately through warranty service.

4 out of 5 eggsTt eSPORTS Poseidon Z Review

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: This is a good keyboard for a good price. Thermaltake (the makers of these eSPORTS products) did a good job with not messing with the standard keyboard layout too much. The enter and backspace keys are properly sized as are the shift keys. The only main change from a standard keyboard layout is where the second windows key would be located on some keyboards there is a function key to control media, and backlighting.

As some other reviewers have said this product does NOT use actually Cherry mx switches and instead ops for “TT eSports Certified Mechanical Switches” whatever that means. That being said having used many other mechanical keyboards in the past, I cannot tell the difference between these and the Cherry ones.

The keyboard is plug and play and does not come with any software. This may be a good or bad thing depending on what exactly you want to use this keyboard for, and whether or not you use macro or custom key programming. In my case I always macro to my mouse and never my keyboard so it is not an issue for me, but if you like keyboards with macro or customizable keys then this probably is not the product for you.

Why this keyboard may not have authentic Cherry switches you really can’t beat the price. Most fully backlit Cherry blue keyboards will set you back a hundred dollars easy so this is a pretty good deal.

Cons: Maybe this is a stingy thing to complain about, but why go through all the trouble of trying to make a premium keyboard and not bother including a wrist rest, even just a cheap foam one. How much could that really add to the cost? Luckily because it is a pretty standard size you can buy aftermarket wrist rests for just a few bucks, but still it would be nice to see one included.

The secondary functions of keys (the @#$ media keys etc.) are not as well illuminated as the main keys which is a minor annoyance.

Disable windows key is oddly placed

Other Thoughts: Is it just me or is hitting the windows button in game not really that much of a problem that it requires a separate key to disable it? It is a feature on nearly every gaming branded keyboard but one that I have rarely, if ever used.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: Really nicely lit keyboard with adjustable back-light levels. Nice rubber bottom to provide slipping. Keys aren't too difficult to press and can take a little punishment which is good for games with quick-time events.

Cons: Clicking is fairly loud, while this doesn't bother me it does bother people that are in my dorm room as would all mechanical keyboards so just remember to look out for that. Also the keyboard didn't really have instructions on how to use the volume up and down options (and other media options), so for people who don't know you must hold the "Fn" key to do so, which can be a hassle sometimes.

2 out of 5 eggsSolid keyboard but became defective.

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: Keyboard sounds and feels great. It is a full keyboard but its quite compact so it doesn't take up much desk space.

Many people say the backlighting is bad because it doesn't up the bottom half of the key, but really that is how it is and personally it makes it look nice having the secondary functions of the key dimmer than its primary function.

The switches feel great and sound amazing but are unreliable. (see cons)

Keyboard is solid, no flex at all.

Cons: When I bought this keyboard I knew they were Kailh switches but the five year warranty give me confidence to purchase it.

After a few months the "s" lost its tactile and audible feedback. One key not much of an issue.

Six months in a flood of keys started to double register per stroke every now and then. The biggest culprit was the "c" key which would mess up plenty of websites (.com) and the like.

Other Thoughts: I have contacted TTesports and I am awaiting their response.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard for the price

This review is from: Tt eSPORTS POSEIDON Z Illuminated KB-PIZ-KLBLUS-01 Black USB Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard – Blue Switch Edition

Pros: This is my first mechanical keyboard so i cannot compare to other mechanical keyboards, but the keypresses are nice. Keyboard includes a hard button to disable the windows key in the top right corner. Some games actually use the windows key like in Arma 3 so this is a nice feature to have. This is also a full size keyboard. Numpad is also essential for some games so this keyboard is the best price/feature set for the money. Also setting the illumination level on the keys is great (and not blinding you during the day).

Cons: There was one issue i ran into with the game. While playing Arma 3, keyboard would bring up the steam overlay (without pressing my shift + tab combo). It made it a minor annoyance as it wasn't during any critical game play moments. So i believe the keyboard prematurely presses that combo for you on respawn when holding shift?
