2 out of 5 eggshtpc

Pros: convenient locations of trackball and buttons

Cons: The keyboard is highly unresponsive. While i type, it misses letters, and I have to
constantly press backspace to fix spelling.

They should've used buffers to resend unsuccessful key transmission.
I didn't have this kind of problem with the logitech wireless keyboards I've been using for 10 years

4 out of 5 eggsAdesso HTPC Keyboard

Pros: -Wireless
-Media Control Keys (Play/Pause/Stop)
-Volume Control
-Combined Keyboard+Mouse

Cons: -Quality is not 100%. My first keyboard lasted about a year and a half before the mouse stopped working. Since other than the quality the keyboard/mouse combo is perfect for the home theater pc.
-Range (This can be resolved by using a USB extension cord and hiding it under carpet etc though see notes below for explanation)

Other Thoughts: Many users complained of the keyboard missing keys or not being very responsive. I found that the range affects this - the further away you are the higher the likelihood of sluggish responsiveness.

If you are using this keyboard like I am for a HTPC and have carpet or don't mind a wire around the edge of the room I highly recommend getting a long USB extension cable. From the back of my machine I plugged in the extension and the USB dongle for this keyboard is on the other end. I snaked it under the carpet along the edge of the room and have it resting under a chair so it's close but completely invisible. Definitely worth the 5 dollars for the extension cable since the responsiveness is perfect as a result.

1 out of 5 eggsPlan to throw it away

Pros: Nice layout and overall one of the best HTPC keyboards available...if only it lasted.

Cons: It doesn't last. I build HTPCs and have been trying to find a decent keyboard for 8+ years and to this day the market is nothing but flawed garbage. For a while I thought this was the one. I bought two to test and they both failed within 6 months. The first one stopped registering certain keys most likely due to flexing and internal connection issues. On the second most recent one the scroll wheel pushed into the unit and wouldn't scroll and then later the unit just stopped sending out a signal. Unfortunately it's just craptastically engineered by some typical Chinese craptastical engineer that doesn't care about quality.

5 out of 5 eggsUsed since 9/3/08

Pros: I have used this for a long time for my htpc and it has worked well.

Cons: 18 months ago I move from the boonies to a more dense population and it started to have it's signal interfered with. A lot of wireless going on that effected the range. Bought a quality 20ft usb extension to run behind my furniture to the back of my living room and plugged the receiver into that. Flawless performance again ever since.

Other Thoughts: Replacing the batteries one time I broke the pins that hold the battery cover in place. The cover still works as long as I am careful with it. Once every couple months I move it a little rough and drop the batteries out of the bottom. FYI, don't force the battery door when replacing. If this bothered me more, I would replace it with same keyboard. I kicked my own but like Carey did in Liar Liar for this one.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money

Pros: Nice layout, very comfortable design.

Cons: I bought this unit about 3 years ago for my HTPC. Worked ok, would lose signal from time to time. Had to once in a while go back and reset the ID to get it to communicate from time to time. After 3 years, it died. Some of the keys fail to work now. Nothing was spilled on it, it was kept in a cubbord. After researching this problem, I find out this is a common problem with this unit. Would not recomend.

5 out of 5 eggsHTPC Keyboard

Pros: Great Range
Great Battery Life
Good layout combination of trackball and keyboard

Cons: While not a knock on the keyboard itself RF (Radio Frequency) range varies depending on obstacles.

Other Thoughts: I originally purchased this keyboard on newegg over a year and a half ago thinking it was only around 50 bucks. The other contender at the time was the much smaller Logitech diNovo Mini Black 63 Normal Keys Bluetooth Wireless Mini Keyboard for $120. Since this keyboard would be like typing on my cellphone and I wanted a full size keyboard I went with the Adesso despite not knowing this particular brand.

One and a half years later I am very happy I got this keyboard. I have the USB dongle plugged into the back of my Home Theater PC so the RF signal has to go through my HTPC and an additional 10-12 feet to reach my couch where I use the keyboard which works fine. If something like one of my leather chairs in this radio frequency line the keyboard will not work. One alternative already mentioned on the forums is to get a usb cord and have the receiver placed in a better location for frequency reception.

For the price of this keyboard it has repaid itself 5x over already!

2 out of 5 eggsThere are better

Pros: Right size; no NumPad; full sized keys.

Cons: Keys are sticky and clunky. Trackball is very hard to control, drops letters terribly. Is not worth 1/3rd the price.

Other Thoughts: I quit using this keyboard, after several months because it dropped letters so bad I could not even use it as a media control. Replaced it with an IO Gear keyboard; looks somewhat like this one. $20 less and superior in every way; In fact I love that keyboard. It never drops letters, and the trackball is great. Check it out.

3 out of 5 eggsMisses Characters

Pros: When it works as advertised, it's great. Love it. Key and button placement is well thought out, although I'd make a few changes if I could. Has survived a few drops to a carpeted floor.

Cons: Even at only 7 ft or so from the computer, It often drops characters. Not good for a lot of typing. Sometimes takes a few seconds to 'wake up'.

Other Thoughts: It's great for surfing the internet, usually a one-handed deal. I'm knocking off two eggs because it should be utterly reliable at 7 ft, even if blocked a little by a table or a crossed leg or such.

3 out of 5 eggsGarbage, but better than most garbage.

Pros: From an average techy, i'd say this great! Knowing a knowledgeable electrical engineer who owns the same, and seeing his and doing research this was the way to go! Love the design, good feel to it I think. Good weight. Balanced. Love it actually.

Cons: Horrible. Laughs. Keyboard is useless, I am using it right now. Characters dropout as most reviewers note. Which is discouraging for me since I am a key man. However, what isn't horrible?! These market trends/companies are ridiculous. I am upping an egg just for that because it seems adesso really tried with this, considering what else is out there on the market. Great. Not the best though. I guess that's what 70$ gets you nowadays? I wish there was quality craftmanship, but I'd say I could not do any better my self. Given the resources and technology that's available in this 21st century of ours, and given to these companies that come up with this plastic garbage I'd say there should be better things available or consumers! But once again, it's garbage, but what isn't?! I'd like to hear what is available that's better? This seems to be the top of the "censored" heap, so to speak. Really, just the characters dropping out is the only reason to be disheartened.

Other Thoughts: Do it! IF you are going to give your money to crooks these are the crooks to give it to. At least an 'A' for effort. or E? But seriously, I challenge a better device and for this price...or $1000 wont get you very far, because the technology simply doesn't exist, is what it looks like to me. But who knows, i'm just some joe blow. Love being censored by newegg. Speak the truth!

1 out of 5 eggsInput KB and Mouse intermittent

Pros: The size, layout, and position of the trackball. I like having the trackball on the upper right and the mouse buttons on the upper left of the keyboard.

Cons: Weak RF signal susceptible to signal cutout. Input often not acknowledged. Imagine typing away and looking to see that about every 10th or 11th character is missing, that's what you get this this keyboard. Trackball control cuts out intermittently (even when only 12 ft from receiver.) Also the mouse buttons on the top left are cheaply made. No crisp "click" when mouse button pressed. Buttons weak (poor manufacture quality.)

Other Thoughts: I ended up smashing it against the wall so that I would be forced to go buy something better. Dealing with the frustration of the missing character issue, and mouse control also being intermittent, it just wasn't worth it. Avoid. You could accomplish the same level of PC control throwing rocks at a wired keyboard across the room.
