The only keyboard featuring macro keys for the thumb
More space on the desktop without the need to forgo all the usual functions. This and a whole lot more besides is offered by the compact ROCCAT Arvo. It’s the first keyboard to offer a gaming mode integrated into the numpad and unique thumbster keys. These three extra keys can be assigned macros or the practical timer function, which can’t be found on any other keyboard on the planet.

  • newegg SIZE MATTERS It’s no coincidence that the ROCCAT Arvo is part of the ROCCAT Smart Desktop Management System. In contrast to other keyboards, it only has a tiny desktop footprint. As a result, neither the mousepad nor mouse will get in your way – plus optimum use is made of the gaming zone. The Arvo is perfect even for arrow key gamers, who prefer to position their keyboards diagonally to the monitor and mousepad, as it doesn’t collide with the monitor or hang over the edge of the desk.
  • newegg DUAL-ASSIGNMENT NUM PAD You don’t have sacrifice anything with the ROCCAT Arvo. The smaller size has been achieved simply by combining the numpad and arrow-key pad. This means that it has all the usual keyboard functions, yet it takes up considerably less space. It’s easy to switch between normal and gaming mode simply by pressing the mode switch button. In gaming mode the arrow keys are illuminated in blue which means gaming even in the dark isn’t a problem. What’s more, two additional, freely programmable macro keys are available which are positioned for optimum access to the left and right of the arrow keys.
  • newegg UNIQUE THUMBSTER KEYS You’ll find three further macro keys positioned beneath the spacebar. These can be individually programmed and can be easily operated using the thumb without being pressed accidently. At last, there’s something new for your thumb to do apart from just hitting the spacebar. From now on you can cast healing or attack spells with your thumb. Another unique function is the ROCCAT Timer which allows the time it takes for special items to revive to be timed to perfection in many games. The ROCCAT Timer can be executed, paused or stopped to within a fraction of a second.
  • newegg PERFECT KEYSTROKE It’s not just its compact design that makes the ROCCAT Arvo the perfect gaming keyboard. It also has an unusually positive keystroke. Because of their optimum height, keys can be pressed with particular precision. Being of medium height means they’re not just comfortable for typing; they also offer a perfect pressure point.
  • newegg INTEGRATED METAL PLATE The Arvo is as good as indestructible thanks to the integrated metal plate. It forgives those little temper tantrums during gaming, and the thump on the edge of the desk that frequently ensues, without so much as a murmur. The rugged metal plate also means it’s perfectly weighted and therefore exceptionally stable. Furthermore, the perfect gaming height can be achieved by folding out the lock-on keyboard legs which cling to any surface like little suction cups thanks to their non-slip coating.

4 out of 5 eggsthe keyboard survived the trip...

Pros: Is pretty much exactly what I expected. I bought this for my SO, because she has tiny hands, and was not disappointed. nothing really misleading about the macro keys, except 2 of them are required to be toggled on, but that is non-issue. so far, it works great. If it keeps working like this, I'd change this review to 5-star, reason being that I don't know how long this will last (see other thoughts)

Cons: No cons for the product

Other Thoughts: Took forever to arrive, sat in post office for 4 days, but that was due to weather, so can't complain.

The packaging was HORRENDOUS. it was shipped straight off the shelf, the package looked like it went through multiple car wrecks, and was taped to oblivion. I'm surprised the keyboard is unscathed.

It actually looks like it wasn't even shipped from NewEgg. So at the moment, I'm satisfied with the product, but we will see.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent for general use

Pros: - For a compact keyboard the layout is not bad
- Shortcut keys are well placed and easy to customize
- software is quick and responsive

Cons: - Horrible ghosting. Can't press three common keys at once
- I thought I could handle a compact keyboard but the transition was too rough

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Starter Keyboard

Pros: Metal housing with a nice finish. The small form factor integrating the arrow keys into num pad is great and gives a nice portable feel to the keyboard.

Cons: I dropped an egg more becasue I was expecting a little more from the key press feel. It feels akin to an old commodore 64 keyboard (ok not that bad but the keys are those loose standard ones that kind of wiggle when you type so it sounds loose)

Other Thoughts: In hindsight, while gaming by monitor light...i wish i would have raised the extra money for a fully lit gaming keyboard with mechanical keys...but live and learn.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice.

Pros: Compact size and great looks. It can be hard to find a good quality keyboard that doesn't take up my hole desk.

Cons: Having to use the mode button for arrow keys vs numpad can be a little odd, but I knew that before I bought it.

Other Thoughts: Small and easy to carry to lan parties, but I'm kinda picky about how "loud" my keyboards are. This is not nearly as loud as mechanical keyboards can be, but I do prefer something more quiet. Overall I like it very much.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Compact size, macro support

Cons: It doesn't correct spelling mistakes before I make them. The software crashes in Windows 8 when trying to save profile settings.

Other Thoughts: I usually don't review keyboards at all unless they're just utter garbage. This is far from the case with the Roccat Arvo. I've found using this keyboard to be extremely enjoyable to use. It's quite comfortable as well. The small size makes it very easy to fit on pretty well any keyboard tray without issue. The software however, does leave a bit to be desired.....but not much. You get 5 macros keys, 2 of which are controlled by the "Mode" switch. You can disable windows keys, the menu key, caps lock key and the tab key from within the software. You can create up to 5 profiles for your macro keys, but unfortunately profiles don't effect which keys (if any) are enabled/disabled. The software seems to have some issues with Windows8. I tried contacting Roccat about this and was told to try creating a rule in the Windows firewall (which I don't even use). If you're using Windows Vista or Windows's a great keyboard. If you're using Windows 8, hopefully you don't need the keyboard profiles.

4 out of 5 eggsWhere's my CD?

Pros: I've had a multitude of gaming keyboards but I needed something for a sliding keyboard shelf and still have room for a mouse pad. Compact is an understatement when referring to this board. But small as it is, it actually has the best feeling keys I've played with. The thumb macros are also nice, and I like that it condenses the arrow keys in the num pad. The software that is supposed to come with it is really nice as well. I'm not going to go all into what it can do, if you are that interested check out the website, but this keyboard can do a lot for the size.

Cons: It is supposed to come with a software and driver CD but mine did not come with it. Wouldn't be a big deal but when you download it from the website it is in a .RAR format and is kind of a pain to open. Minus a star for not coming with the proper materials.

Other Thoughts: If you need a really great gaming keyboard but space is at a premium, jump on this thing. You won't be sorry.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent keyboard!

Pros: Nice to see that ROCCAT is now selling their products in the US market. I've actually had mine for 2 years, but had to use a company in Europe to get it. The price was a bit ridiculous then compared to what it is here.

Anyway, the keyboard is very functional and very small. In fact. the whole reason I got this keyboard was for the size. It was the only "gaming" keyboard I could find that didn't take up the whole desk. There is nothing worse than a huge, clunky keyboard getting in the way. The keys also feel great when pressed, and it's held up superbly to my 2 years of torture. I've never had any problems with it. Great product, and I'd like to see an LED version in the future.

Cons: None.
