4 out of 5 eggsNIce keyboard

Pros: Great look and finish. Keys feel strong and sturdy. Led brightness level is changeable and can be turned off completely. One touch media keys are very convenient.

Cons: Led does not have 100% coverage. Few of the keys (i.e., Tab, Caps Lock, Shift, Delete) are not completely lit. Occasionally, pressing a key is not recognized or there is a slight (ms) lag. Need to figure out if this is the board or perhaps USB issue.

Other Thoughts: Had the keyboard for few days, so far I really like the look and feel of it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied

Pros: Loving the finish and everything about the keyboard. Its relatively high enough without the support stands in the back, but adds the umph when used. I also like the fact that the lights are very bright when my lights are closed, making it easier for location especially when playing games.

Cons: None so far, and I don't expect to find any!

Other Thoughts: They could have had this in a white or blue LED backlight if you think about it. I don't mind, but the choice for variety would make this overall fantastic gaming board well received!

Pros: great documentation.

great size for me.

worked out of box, no problems. haven't used the config software much yet, but there are plenty of options.

based on my early opinion, corsair took some time to make sure they got this one right; imo, it worked. i love it!

Cons: none atm.

Other Thoughts: software for the k30 @ corsair.com/downloads

i'm using the k30 with the m65 mouse. great combo for me.

this was a great cost-effective option for me.

4 out of 5 eggsBeginner's board

Pros: Keys feel good
Somewhat quiet
Illuminates red
Look good

Cons: The illumination seems to not cover all the characters... what I mean is that for example the "insert" button basically is only illuminated as INSER with the T faded. It's noticeable with the keys that have long words (delete, scroll, shift, etc).

The plastic feels... cheap. I really like the top part as well as volume control.

A wrist rest would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Would of probably ponied up to spend the extra $10 to get

3 out of 5 eggsSolid board but lacking in the "gamer" dept.

Pros: This is a very well build keyboard and is on par with every other quality Corsair product they put out. While they have a 2 year warranty, I highly doubt anyone would need to worry about the quality unless it was to arrive DOA. In the unlikely event that was to happen, Corsair is a great company and would ensure you’re taken care of. That is one of the few things that sets this board apart from the crowd….a reliable, quality company. I spent a lot of time with this keyboard putting it through the paces and find it to be extremely comfortable to use when web surfing or typing emails and has a very solid/rugged feel it. Another positive is that although there is no software bundled with the keyboard, it is a simple plug and play (I’m using Windows 7 64bit) and I didn’t need the software for any hotkeys to work. Downloading the software is free and easy on their website and makes setting macros and fine tuning hotkeys much easier of course. The red backlighting proved good in any lighting condition I was in and it has a very clean, elegant look. If you’re the type that likes to mash buttons while gaming, you can press several (10 plus) keys at once without any issues at all. That is a potential nice feature depending on what you would be using the keyboard for.

Cons: I wouldn’t consider this a gaming keyboard, other than a very basic “beginner” gaming board. At this price point, there is a lot of competition and not much in the way to set this apart from the crowd. It has what you want and would expect in a keyboard, but nothing else. Setting the macro’s on the fly was difficult at times and the location/button press required was unnatural/heavy feeling at times. The keys require a heavy press and it can become slightly fatiguing while gaming and moving around the board. Mechanical keys would be a plus in a “gaming” keyboard. At this price is hard to expect much more, but it would be nice if there was an LED readout of some sort, additional USB ports on the board, and some would like different color options for the backlighting I’m sure, although I found the dimmable red to be just fine in any lighting condition. Some would also expect the software to be included on a disk with the keyboard right out of the box.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a well-built basic keyboard. If I was in the market for strictly a “gaming” keyboard, I would look elsewhere however and spend a bit more on Corsair’s higher end boards. If you want a “jack of all trades” that is decent in all areas, this is a very good keyboard in the $40-$50 price range though. I am personally very partial to the Logitech G series boards with LED display. Once you’ve used a board like that, it’s hard to go back to something without.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair does it again

Pros: I must say that when I received this product, I was blow away. The style of this keyboard is very cool and the backlit keys are a delight to work with.

After hooking it up and working with it for a couple minutes, I already loved how this keyboard functioned for regular day to day tasks. Typing a Word document felt very natural, much better than the OEM Dell and Gateway keyboards I have used for years to type with.

Knowing that the real purpose for this keyboard was gaming I couldn't wait to fire up a couple choice FPS games (my personal favorite) and see how well I can frag with this thing.

This keyboard was definitely no slouch when it comes to gaming. Owning a Wolfking warrior and Razor Orbweaver, two one-handed gaming pads, I was able to compare how those performed in game to the Corsair K30 now in my possession. I will now need a buyer for my Orbweaver! Yes, this keyboard is that good, good enough for me to give up my game-specific mechanical keypad.

Pros:
Very good tactile feel
Responsive keys with good amount of force
Not clicky like mechanical keys
Long USB cord
Red backlit keys that can be controlled
Red USB connector
Good height for my hands and rists
Macro keys for custom key strikes
Different coloring for WSAD and directional keys
Design is sharp but not overboard.
Solid Construction

Like I said before, I am now looking for a buyer for my Razor Orbweaver. This full -size gamer is that GOOD!

Cons: I was really racking my brain about this section but found it very difficult to come up with any CONS. I would have said price when the keyboard was listed at MSRP but for the current listed price on Newegg I would say it’s right on the money. I don't like MIR but at 50 bucks I would easily recommend this keyboard to a gamer just like me.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased many products from Corsair and to this date have not been disappointed in any of them. This keyboard is no exception. While some of their products might be on the more expensive side, you pay for quality and that is exactly what you are getting with the K30. A no fuss gaming keyboard that has every bit of functionality I look for. I was using an OEM keyboard for my typing and a game pad for my gaming. With this product, I now have both in one device.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage at Best

Pros: Corsairs K30 Black Wired Red LED Lit Keyboard. You may notice I left the word Gaming out of my intro. While Corsair has geared this towards gamers in my honest opinion its better geared for all keyboard users. It does have some programmable keys that gamers will like but those same macro keys can easily be used in other keyboard related scenarios as well. This is a simple membrane keyboard with great tactile feel and a convenient QWERTY style layout. Overall this keyboard is on par with others in its price range of 40-60$ It has very nicely lit up red leds to allow for ease of use in dark situations. Multimedia keys for easily handling your video or music playbacks without having to fumble with a point and click mouse. A windows lock key for uninterrupted game play was a nice added bonus for the gaming side of this keyboard. The texture of the keys leaves it feeling rubbery as one reviewer stated but to me it didn't feel rubbery but did offer a feeling that you were not going to slip of the key and accidentally pressing another key. Has the option to raise the back of the keyboard for a more comfortable feeling for those who like their keyboards more slanted. I tested this keyboard playing WoW (World of Warcraft) overall my gaming experience was positive without any issues from ghosting or input lag. I did like the programmable keys for this as I was able to set up a few macro's that I normally do a button at a time so it saved me some time from that mundane task. But overall I like my old gaming keyboard better.

Cons: Lack of ability to make leds anything but RED
Not mechanical which for most gamers is a must.
No ability to use head phone or mic like most gaming keyboards allow.
no USB headers hub like a lot of gaming keyboards.
Placement of macro keys not in the best place.
Not a true gaming keyboard
price for it missing alot of key elements for gaming in my honest opinion this is a 30$ basic keyboard with a few macro keys.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a decent keyboard albeit a bit overpriced for its included options. Corsair has a magnitude of variously priced keyboards aimed at the gamer, and in my opinion should of left the GAMER tag off of this one and marketed it as a basic keyboard with options. Calling a keyboard a Gaming Keyboard and leaving off some of the most important options gamers want is in my opinion a major fail. We like leds thats cool but allow us some way to change the color not everyone has red as a part of their computers color scheme. For the 60$ (when not on sale) this keyboard is not a bargain at all as a gaming keyboard. If I was looking for a GAMING keyboard I would bypass this quickly and look at other options. If I was looking for a good keyboard back by an industry leading company I'd definitely have this board on my short list. With keyboards you get what you pay for and those 15-20$ units are gonna break in short time. With Corsairs name on this I'd have no problem paying 40-50$ for a normal day in day out use keyboard.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for WASD gamers

Pros: Fold out feet design works well and should survive for a long time.

The feature set for the price is excellent (good value)

Solid feel too it for a rubber dome keyboard. Keys feel very smooth despite having translucent characters.

N-key rollover is truly "gaming optimized". I pushed as many keys as I could on the left side of the keyboard with both hands and it registered all of them (12 at least). Unless you have more than one person using the keyboard or you have more than 10 fingers, this should prove sufficient

Control software is simple and effective. It looks well designed.

Cons: On-the-fly macro recording doesn't record delays between keys or press duration

Media control keys are on the main area of the keyboard, but they are recessed. This caused me to accidentally hit keys on the number pad until I got used to it

I would have liked to see rubber feet on the back fold out legs. Keyboard seems to slip a bit easier than it should.

Location of the macro keys - I find myself hitting the G6 key instead of left ctrl because it's on the bottom left of the keyboard.

n-key rollover on the right side of the board is pretty bad. As little as 5 keys caused the 5th to get ghosted out. Probably not an issue for most people though.

Other Thoughts: I'm an esdf guy, not wasd, so the grey keys don't line up. I also find it difficult to reach the macro keys. Neither of these are a problem if you use the default config in most games.

Let's talk about the border-less design. I don't really care much for the way it looks, but it's really just my opinion. It is certainly different being able to see underneath your keys from the sides. It makes cleaning a lot easier also.

The only thing keeping me from giving this the full 5 eggs is that if you are like me and don't use the "wasd" cluster for gaming, you're not getting the full effectiveness of this board. The n-key rollover is slightly worse, the "special grey key caps" don't line up, the macro buttons are too far to reach. If you do use WASD, then this board is an incredible value if you are looking to upgrade from your OEM keyboard with macro keys and a little bit of flair.
