5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard!

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Great feeling to this mechanical keyboard. Keys are super responsive and have just the right amount of click. Not as loud as other mechanical keyboards (Looking you Black Widow). Heavy... it will stay put. Keys pop off easily and LED lights are customizable for each individual key. Good stuff.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Did a bit of research before settling for this. Buy this keyboard. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair Vengeance K70 Cherry MX Brown

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Heavy, sturdy, well made. Love the mechanical click of the keys. Adjustable brightness of back lighting is cool, also you can just light up your gaming keys. Extra USB on the back of the keyboard comes in handy. Doesn't have all the extra keys that I never use and always gets in the way. Has what I need, and that's it. Easy to clean!

Cons: expensive for a keyboard, I paid about 120$.

2 out of 5 eggsAnother LED issue.

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: -Great keyboard
-High quality
-Not too loud

Cons: -LED on F2 key wasn't even there. I'm going to reorder... but if... if there is another issue I'm bringing my money to an apparent more trustworthy company. Shameful the products you ship out Corsair, shameful.

Other Thoughts: Waste of your time unless you enjoy returning items to Newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsMinor Issues Ended Up As Dealbreaker

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Nice tactile keyboard, sturdy aluminum faceplate, sexy black/red theme, no drivers means no driver issues, quieter than IBM Model M, built-in usb port.

Cons: ESC key placement, black keys don't stand out from black base, red lit keys hard to read under light and dark conditions, red lights are uneven.

Other Thoughts: I liked this keyboard, but a few pitfalls ended up being dealbreakers for me causing me to return it.

I wanted to upgrade from my current IBM Model M 'clacky' keyboard to something more modern. The 'M' has a noticably higher key pressure than the MX Brown, but I think I would have eventually adjusted. It was amusing to be gaming and wondering why I would keep jumping at the worst time, my thumb accidentally resting just a bit too hard on the space bar.

The bigger issue was key location and visibility/readability. The ESC key (and all the function keys) are at a lower level than the rest of the keys. This seemed non-standard to me, and I had a hard time adjusting - especially when all my other keyboard are not a problem. Readability was also an issue. The dark red glow of each key cap's letter just didn't have enough contrast to stand out against the black key cap. Also, the black key on a black frame made locating keys difficult - I couldn't easily differentiate the key from the background.

One nice little feature is a non-hub usb plug on the back of the keyboard. There are two usb plugs at the end of the cord, one for the keyboard, the other for this plug. It's a nice feature, and they didn't go the 'usb hub' route like other keyboards do. The cable itself has a braided sheath which I liked. The driverless backlights are simple: 3 levels + off controlled by a dedicated button. Another dedicated button locks the windows key - another nice touch. I wasn't crazy about red as a backlight color. And it would have been nicer if the backlit letters in the key caps were evenly lit up - the top was typiclally brighter than the bottom.

2 out of 5 eggsKey light started acting up in less than a week.

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: - The brown switches feel fantastic.
- The lighting levels are nice
- Metal chassis
- Key / chassis design makes it easy to clean the keyboard

Cons: - The light under the "D" key started going out randomly. I had to press the key several times to get it to light up again, and as soon as I pressed the key again to type out a word, the light would go out again. This started happening less than a week after I received it.

This is my first Corsair keyboard, and it will most likely be my last.

Other Thoughts: The risers in the front of the keyboard are kind of weird. I've never seen that on a keyboard before.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair knows what they're doing.

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: -I use this everyday and haven't had any problems with it. Typing on this keyboard makes a huge difference in my typing speed i never have been able to feel so at one with my keys before this.
-If you take care of it you wont have to get a new one for a really really long time. I might keep this forever
-As for gaming I don't have long enough fingers to press more buttons than it can handle. In other words it can detect so many button presses at once that my players in cod and ghosts and all the games i have do exactly what I want.

Cons: I Can Not go back to a lesser keyboard now that I've had a taste of the good life.

Other Thoughts: Peripherals are the most over looked improvement you can make for any setup gaming or otherwise. It makes all the difference in the world so make sure to get quality. These don't get out dated as quickly as video cards or processors so the money is totally worth it! Don't get another hunk of hp dell or other piece of wireless junk.

3 out of 5 eggsNot sure if bad unit or poor support.

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Seems to be of solid build.
Secondary backlighting option allows for each key to be turned on or off.
While it would be nice if it was USB3, USB2 extension through keyboard allows for convenient splitter location taped under desk for close mouse sensor and flash drives.

Cons: An hour or so after first plugging it in at home the keyboard stopped communicating with the PC. The lights would turn on and off, but nothing registered with the device. After rebooting, keyboard works (for the most part).

On main desktop CAPS lock light is stuck on, and others are stuck off.
On nearby server the CAPS light is stuck off, and the other two work normally.
I'm not really sure why this would be the case. One would think the toggle would not rely on software.

Additionally, BIOS has thrown a warning that there is no keyboard connected during every boot. Keyboard works at time of login forward.

5 out of 5 eggsBest keyboard i've used

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Very high quality switches. I own a TTesports Poseidon Z with brown Kailh switches for work and can notice the superior quality of both Cherry MX switches and the keyboard itself. I have tried Logitech's Romer-G switches as well as Razer's own special brand of Kailh with the gold plated contacts and still prefer the MX. Razer's switches actually come in as a close second, and their keyboards are surprisingly awesome since they reduce key travel so much.

My typing speed improved drastically with this keyboard. When I initially got it, I typed ~100 words per minute on a cheap membrane keyboard. After this keyboard, I typed ~120 off the bat, then when I added 40-AR o-ring dampeners, I now type ~130 words per minute.

I have had this probably close to 6 months and experienced no issues with LEDs or anything to that nature.

Cons: Key travel is a bit too high for my liking, but this can be mitigated by 40-AR o-ring dampeners. If you're looking to reduce key travel, trust me on this, 40-AR is the size you want.

One of the only downsides is that this keyboard gets dirty under the keys very easily because the keys are raised up so high. Try not to eat things like chips over it while gaming, the crumbs will just fall under the keys. Hair seems to fall off into them as well, it's a bit gross but the keyboard is thankfully easy to clean and a feather duster should work fine.

The media keys above the tenkey pad are in an awkward location and would be better suited more toward the Corsair logo.

This keyboard is very large, so if you have small hands, this may not be the keyboard for you and you may want to consider the tenkeyless version if that's your thing, or a smaller keyboard like the Razer BlackWidow. My hands are pretty large so it's perfect for me, but something for potential buyers to keep in mind.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat keyboard

This review is from: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Red LED - Cherry MX Brown Switches

Pros: Switches feel great, usb pass through is good for my wireless mouse, backlighting is adjustable, sleek professional design.

Cons: As others have said, the bottom parts of keys don't illuminate very well, cord is not very long for me, and my mute button came popped off. Not a big deal, just popped it back on and it was fine.
