226BW 'A' & 'C' Models Cont.inued
- Pros: Ordered monitor on Monday, received it on Wednesday. No dead pixels. Screen is huge and looks great. Sharp text, good viewing angle, nice stand base which swivels 360 degrees. Easy to use menu buttons. Detailed instructional software. Great looking gloss black panel w/ silver bezel.
- Cons: Slight back light bleed at the top of the monitor. Being that I have a 'C' panel, the monitor wasn't correctly calibrated. Read below, on how to correct this.
- Other Thoughts: Open the cover on the back of your monitor. You will see Model:226BW (R). To the right of (R) will be the letter 'A' (AOC), 'C' (CHIMEI), or
'S' (Samsung). If you have an 'A' or 'C' you need to install a calibration file to set up your monitors colors correctly. I can't put a direct link to the site that explains this process because it will be removed by Newegg, so simply type this in Gxxxle search engine without quotes.
"installing profile, 226BW"
Scroll down to where it says "Installing the profile", and follow the simple directions. You should see a great improvement upon completion. Enjoy.
Best monitor I've owned
- Pros: Large, font size is readable, very sharp and clear text, beautiful colors. Compared to my 22" CRT and 19" Samsung LCD, this is way better. A great value at half the price of a 24" LCD.
- Cons: I haven't found any. I thought I wouldn't like the silver bezel and the glossy black finish, but they're conservative and very nice looking.
- Other Thoughts: Perhaps I can help on the A panel vs S panel issue. I bought two of these. One is an S that shipped from Memphis , the other an A that came from New Jersey. I have no problems with either with any kind of light bleeding through or any other weakness. I'm not a graphics or color professional, but they both look fantastic to my eye. However, for whatever reason, the A panel seems to be brighter, though after adjusting the brightness controls (S at 60, A at 30) they both look the same. I tried them both on a Vista computer with a Gigabyte 7600 GT video card, and now have the A panel on an XP computer with a Radeon 9600XT. They both look awesome.

Very Nice
- Pros: Huge screen! Not sure what panel I got but the colors look great. Great value for a monitor of this size and quality so I bought 2, one for me and one for the wife.
- Cons: Limited tilt. My wife's desk is raised in the middle and that put the monitor too high, so she was seeing a dark band across the top. Ended up buying a wall mount that solved the problem, would have happened with any LCD screen.
- Other Thoughts: Makes a great display for an Xbox360 when paired with a good speakers.
Usable After Calibration
- Pros: The image is crisp and the refresh rate is good. Overall I'm willing to accept the monitor's performance after the battles described below, but I would have returned this LCD if it weren't for Newegg's non-refundable policy. It's a good monitor for gaming and casual use.
- Cons: I got a monitor with a 3rd-party panel (mine was made by AU Optronics) that clearly isn't the best of the best. I frequently process photos and I was very disappointed with the color fidelity of the monitor. A friend loaned me his Spyder2, which was able to configure the monitor in a much more accurate way.
I sometimes see a strange, inverted-ghosting effect in certain situations, as if the display is overcompensating to improve its refresh speed. It's not too distracting, though.
- Other Thoughts: If you plan to use this monitor for anything that requires color accuracy, you should add the cost of a Spyder2express to your budget. If you get a non-Samsung panel, you will need it. A better idea, however, is simply to look elsewhere.

- Pros: This is best monitor ever. If you use DC u get hightest 3000:1 contrest. 2ms for best respod time!! best for games. and Best price ever. I do not know what monitor can beat this monitor.
