Some say a thirty inch monitor is overkill . . . but why is that a bad thing? Samsung's SyncMaster 305T will make every inch a beauty to behold. The max 2560 x 1600 resolution makes "anti-aliasing" redundant, and its stunning contrast ratio, and riot of colors will bring out every nuance of an image at any resolution.
The "Magic Speed" 6ms response time takes games to the next level with a true real time feel. Crystal clear display will make this monitor irreplaceable to any video and image editing. Penny for pixel you will be hard pressed to find a better buy.

Pros: Many people think that 30 inch monitors are overkill, from my experience with this beauty I say, what are they talking about!! If your working on a Word Doc you can display two sheets and still have room to display iTunes or the Internet. I don't do photo editing so I can't comment on color accuracy but I took some pictures with my camera and they are so detailed at full 2560x1600 it's almost scary. For gaming any older game (Halo, AoM, BF2) will run full screen smoothly with my 7900 GTX; Oblivion and newer games I just set "Centered Output" and run the game in 1600x1200 or something like that. Works superbly. The monitor itself is remarkably adjustable: Height is nearly 6 inches at full and a little less than 3 inches at shortest height. I can't explain how beautiful games and desktops look with this much room. You can sit close enough to the monitor so that your whole peripheral vision is filled.
Cons: No serious cons that I can think of. Will take some getting used to in terms of size when gaming. Sadly, even 1080P videos look pixelated when scaled to full screen, so be aware of that.
Other Thoughts: Plan on getting a 8800 GTX or higher if you want any future in gaming with this monitor. My 7900 GTX and C2D e6600@3.4Ghz runs BF2 with everything on 4xAA at about 45-60 FPS

Expands My Horizons!

Pros: This is an AWESOME display. I believe only 3 monitors on the market capable of 2560 x 1600 resolution (the others being the Apple 30" Cinema Display and the HP LP3065. The Samsung 305T is the least expensive of the 3 and has faster response time. It is not quite as sexy as the Apple display but it is a clean, elegantly simple design. It is great having all these pixels when running Eclipse or editing video and photos. I'm so glad I finally got one!
Cons: It took forever to find one. Most of the online vendors advertising these do not have any in stock. The USB ports are not easy to access, mainly because this screen is just so HUGE. This is not a problem for semi-permanent connections like the keyboard and mouse.
Other Thoughts: Requires a dual-link DVI to run full resolution. It would be nice to have a second DVI (or HDMI) input would be nice. I had to crank up the acceleration on my mouse to deal with all this extra screen real estate.

Pros: The monitors (I had two) were nice, but had some dead/bright pixels. I thought this was par for the course, but a recently purchased 30" monitor, by a different, two-letter brand, has ZERO bad pixels.
Cons: Samsung's Support: Monitor dies in warranty. 5 months of getting the runaround, and having to report them to the BBB before finally getting a refund check. They said they don't have any replacements in stock!
Other Thoughts: I had 2 305Ts. They both died after 1.5 years.

Broke After 2 Years

Pros: This monitor was awesome when I purchased it in August of '07, and ran every game I could throw at it. 2560 x 1600 allows for the perfect work environment, as I could open several apps at once. It made Photoshop SOO easy with that much real estate.
Cons: Last week however, it began to run a zillion fine black lines about 7" long in the middle, and after that, the whole left side just started to go dark. I'm about to contact Samsung as it's still under warranty, but from what other customers are saying, it looks like this might be a huge debacle.
Other Thoughts: Samsung makes awesome monitors; there's no doubt about that. I happen to own 5 smaller LCD's, and have never had a problem (this is my only 305T). Both of my TV's are also Samsung. Not sure what happened with the design of this particular model, but until they resolve the problems some of us seem to have, I'd hold off.

My Samsung Ordeal

Pros: Large screen estate, solid monitor while still working
Cons: It failed after 1.5 years of operation, still in warranty. The most horrible customer service experience for a 1,300 dollar product.
Other Thoughts: To give you some background - I do video games and digital photography for living and I rely on high end equipment. My ordeal so far: 1. I purchased my monitor here in 06/2008. 2. End of 11/2009, the monitor gets green stripes and I send it for repair. 3. A week later monitor comes back in same condition. 4. I haul it downtown for a diagnostic - confirmed it's broken, exactly the same way as before "repair". 5. For second time I send the monitor to Samsung. 6. After holidays Samsung sends me an email they never received the monitor. 7. I call Samsung - they inform me the monitor arrived physically damaged to facility and they will send me pictures. 6. After 4 calls to Samsung still no pictures but they offer to send me the physically damaged monitor. ...... (things turn surreal, I record all conversations) 20. Two months have passed I am suing them in small claims court and also involving BBB. 21. I will never buy a Samsung product again
