Give yourself room to spread out with Samsung's 245BW. This 24" widescreen monitor can handle resolutions up to 1920x1200 for exceptionally detailed images. In addition to the great resolution it boasts a 5ms response time. Combine the two and you’ll feel like you’re truly in the game.
This monitor isn't just about gaming though. That 5ms response time combined with a brightness rating of 400cd/m2 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1 means that it’s great for movies too.
Samsung has included two technologies to maximize the viewing experience. MagicBright3 optimizes monitor settings in different modes such as text, internet, movies, games and others so you can get a great view with the touch of a button. MagicColor improves the hue and saturation of colors in two modes, Skin Tone Protection and Full Color Enhancement, so that you get fresh, clear images every time.

Awesome for The Price
- Pros: Awesome colors, very rich and vibrant. Great Brightness, makes games look incredible! ZERO dead pixels.
- Cons: None really.
- Other Thoughts: As another reviewer pointed out, there isn't USB, ect... however, you know this when buying the product, so how can you be disappointed??? This is a no bells and whistels monitor (except for a great picture), if you want all the extra's, then spend another $100 and get them.
Bright and Sharp!
- Pros: First, if your getting lines at lower brightness your not adjusting it correctly! You can raise or lower the corsness and this will get rid of the lines. Read the manual that's on the install disk! Sharp picture, very bright, lots of adjustments, nice stand, no dead pixels, this isn't you dad's tn monitor! Great use of TN. I don't use portrait so I love the stand, the monitor stand is very sturdy. Games look great, my 8800GTX loves this monitor and no ghosting or shadows. Grey levels are the best I have seen, one of the benifits of having TN technology. It looks like Samsung has made TN work very well.
- Cons: The down side of twisted numonic displays are the viewing angle, this only gets bad if I have my face pressed agains the wall and I'm looking at my monitor which is in the corner of my office. It does run hot but it's not as bad as a crt. The presets need to be played with a bit. The game level is very bright. Game play looks good but it tends to washout the prerendered movie clips. Oh, and don't look at google on game setting, it's like looking at a bright white sun. I had google blazzed into my eyes for a few seconds. I recommend sport setting, or game and then turn the color to cool and turn brightness down to about 80. I'm still playing with the settings to get it just right.
- Other Thoughts: Oh, and you need to note that a screen this size will make prerendered movie clips look a little pixelated. This is because it's now HUGE! The a file wasn't tailored to be shown at 1900 x 1200 in 24", but high rez WMA files look freaking awesome! I run a beast, AMD 64 x2 +6000 4GB OCz PC8500 8800GTX 320GB 3.0GB/s Vista 32-bit/64-bit dual boot (still buggy with some aps at 64-bit)

You get what you pay for
- Pros: Large screen that is bright enough to blind you...
- Cons: The viewing angle is horrible, the color is off, and after a few months of ownership I am now getting streaking. If you are a gamer, graphics designer or any other computer techie then I would advice passing on this monitor. I wanted a good monitor for a good price and that just isn't reality. If you are looking for a monitor that has good viewing angle, has good and accurate colors, and doesn't streak then I would pass on this monitor.
- Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a monitor that has a good viewing angle, has good and accurate colors, and doesn't streak then I would pass on this monitor. I wish I had went with an NEC I was looking at for $400 more.
You get what you pay for and this just isn't worth it.
Samsung 245bw monitor
- Pros: This monitor replaced a 6 year old Philips 18.1 inch LCD. Used only for office work, e-mail, internet, word etc. no plans to use it for gaming or watching movies
The Samsung had no dead pixels, great ergonomics, clean and sharp edges. great colors. The ergonomics stand out. So many monitors come with close to no height adjustments.
- Cons: TN panel. the limitations of this technology ( viewing angles and 6 bit color) are well documented elsewhere. slight humming noise from the rear. Poor documentation. If you are running windows vista forget the CD and go directly to Samsungs website and download the driver and magic tune software. you will need to do a little bit of digging to get what you need. Although if you are comfortable with internet searches it is no big deal.
- Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research prior to making my purchase. This monitor is for a home office environment. No DVD movies or games. the 245bw is a no frills monitor. No speakers, USB and only DVI and VGA inputs. For me this was a plus. I have yet to read a good review of any monitor speaker. Now the humming noise is something that you should be aware of, especially if you are into silent PC computing. This has been reported on other Samsung monitors, such as the 245T. the reports of humming are not confined to samsung monitors. Dell has references on there website. the humming is likely related to the high power demands of 24 inch monitors. One website reviewer reported that 24 inch monitors will pull twice the power that a 22 inch would require. The hum is minor to my ear, but others may find it more of an issue. If you want a completely silent PC be aware of this issue, not just for the 245bw, but for other 24 inch monitors.
Awesome Monitor
- Pros: It's HUGE! Very bright (can be adjusted), never experienced any kind of ghosting or delay. No dead pixels or bleeding. Excellent monitor for everyday computing and gaming.
- Cons: Not a monitor for videophiles. Not the best at reproducing colors and the blacks aren't anything to get excited about.
- Other Thoughts: Amazing monitor for everyday computing and gaming. With alot of tweaking and messing with settings it can produce very nice results when watching 1080p movies but not the best out there. But I have never had any sort of problem whatsoever with this monitor. Solid product from Samsung.
