5 out of 5 eggsExcellent monitor

Pros: No dead pixels. Excellent clarity...plays games smoothly and with superb contrast. Very good view from different angles while sitting.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Beautiful. large monitor with superb color and clarity. The size of this monitor makes working on my computer much more enjoyable than my old 19 in CRT.
Personally, I really like the touch controls. Easy to use unless you are in a room with no light. It only took a few minutes to set up the screen, I used the settings from an earlier post (ErkWit) except that I used a higher brightness level (30)... Everyone's eyesight has a little different threshold for brightness.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another!

2 out of 5 eggssynchmaster 2693 HM

Pros: Looks good when it works. Samsung support tries to help but there is no correcting a bad design.

Cons: Touch sensitive buttons do not work well at all for me. Once the monitor turns off good luck getting it to turn back on. The solution I found was to simply leave it on and let it go into "power save". Also, the stand is very flimsy and wobbles at the slightest touch.

Other Thoughts: It needs a better on/off switch. If they would do away with the touch sensitive one and just leave the rocker switch on the back they could solve alot of problems.

1 out of 5 eggspoor quality

Pros: good picture

Cons: poorly built. after 1 month, on-screen menu would automaticly cycle on and off. monitor would randomly shut itself off.

Other Thoughts: tech supprt was helpfull, but after 15 days, new unit still had not shipped from Samsung. tech support said it may be another week before it ships. last Samsung product I will purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Screen

Pros: Sharp resolution, fast startup, didn't require any calibration, games look great. And for once, no dead pixels.

Cons: Might need to buy another before long!

Other Thoughts: This was at the right price and was shipped fast.

4 out of 5 eggsUnique Monitor

Pros: Has HDMI, DVI, D-Sub, and audio connections. A fine monitor.

Cons: No remote control option. If the HDMI signal turns off, the screen shows a bouncing "No signal" box instead of going into standby. Touch sensitive buttons need stickers. Built-in sound is tinny.

Other Thoughts: I've happily used this monitor as my "TV" for the last 6 months. A PS3 provides DVD playback and games, and a MacBook provides Hulu and other Internet TV streams. A set of beefy computer speakers plugged into the audio out provides the sound. The only thing lacking is a way to change the volume without getting up, though a better set of computer speakers could fix that.

Every once and while when setting up a PS3 DVD playback, the sound will be missing. Replugging-in the HDMI cable fixes the problem, I suppose because the initial HDCP didn't go well.

5 out of 5 eggsAn improvement from the 245bw

Pros: I upgraded from a Samsung 245bw that I bought a couple of years ago. My main reasons for upgrading were the terrible backlight bleed and lack of HDMI port on the 245bw.

Fortunately the 2x93hm series takes care of these problems. There is still a small amount of bleeding around the edges but overall the quality is far superior. And with the hdmi port I never have to swap DVI inputs at the monitor if I want to play ps3 or xbox360.

Another pro is the extremely useful tilt/rotate/pivot stand (which functions similar to the 245bw). I have to rotate my display 180 degree to watch it from my sofa so a rotating stand was essential (and a primary reason why I bought this one over the newer Samsung T260 and other brands).

Cons: So far there's only two cons: the stand is very flimsy in comparison to the 245bw and the source switching is quite slow. DVI to HDMI switch takes about 6 seconds and from HDMI to analog takes about 3. The 245bw took 1-2 seconds from VGA to DVI.

Also I don't care that much but the touch controls are laughably bad. I have to hit each button 1-6 times for it to register (the menu button is the worst). It's a good thing you don't need to use them often.

Other Thoughts: There are probably other, cheaper, and (perhaps) better solutions out there if you want a 1920*1200 display with a HDMI port. That said, the monitor performs well on the tests and the backlight bleed is greatly diminished from the 245bw.

For kicks, here are my monitor settings (which I found from someone who used a eye2 calibration thingy):

Brightness : 17
Contrast : 85
Red : 20
Green : 12
Blue : 23
Sharpness: 40

Apparently these settings allow the monitor to display 93% of the color gamut, whatever that means. Keep in mind that the correct settings may depend on your OS color profiles too.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Large beautiful screen. No dead pixels on delivery. Samsung always had beautiful frames. The touch sensitive buttons aren't as big a deal as some have made it out to be.

Cons: The stand does seem a little flimsy. Not to say that it feels like it will crack but for the size I would have expected a more solid feeling stand. The screen itself doesn't snap to the standard angles when rotating (horizontal, vertical) so its hard to get it perfectly level. Turning the monitor is not as smooth as I like.

Other Thoughts: The DVI cord is a little short, my old 19" samsung came with a much longer DVI. Not necessarily a problem but it can be if you are like me and have some distance between your PC and the desk.
