5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: its affordable and lasts way beyond expected

Cons: nothing, except maybe the navigation to set up the light/dark ratio is a bit annoying. but once you get it where you like it your done.

its no longer available!!!

Other Thoughts: I've had this monitor for well of 5 years, more like 7 and its still kicking.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor!

Pros: Absolutely stunning picture, great color variation, dark blacks, bright whites, sleek looking, has actual buttons rather than touch-sensitive

Cons: Blue LED blinks rather brightly when the monitor has no signal, forcing me to turn it off when I sleep rather than just letting the monitor go to sleep.

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor without looking at specs very closely, simply because it was a great deal. I've added it to my desk as a second monitor, next to my 22" AOC 2236vw. I was blown away by the AOC's picture quality and completely satisfied with it, until I put this Samsung next to it. The difference is literally night and day. The picture on this monitor is absolutely magnificent.

3 out of 5 eggsMixed feelings

Pros: Great picture quality, deep blacks, and very bright. Samsung monitors normally display colors excellently.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I own 2 different types of this model, one is an updated version with 50000:1 contrast and the other is at 20000:1. The 20000:1 seemed very bright until I got the newer model which is noticeably brighter. I have had 0 problems with the older model, but the newer model developed a large yellow spot only after 3 months of use. After doing research into this monitor, it seems to be hit and miss on quality. Other reviewers have complained about the power supply having issues which I have not yet experienced. After sending in the monitor for repair, I actually got it back in worse condition. Little black spots showed up after I got it back and the original problem was not fixed and the monitor was not even fully put back together after 'repaired' (I am sending it in again). This is my first experience dealing with Samsung's repair process and am not impressed so far. It is no wonder that this model is discontinued.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Choice Monitor

Pros: The monitor connected to a HDMI Satellite or cable box works flawlessly and switched to DVI very quickly allowing a paused TV program to hold while you check the Internet. I can watch TV on this monitor without switching on the big set and prefer it when alone. It is easy on my eyes.

Picture quality is outstanding. There were no bad pixels and no perceived flaws in color or sharpness.

I use an ergotron arm to mount my 2333SW so the stand issues were irrelevant for me. This allows me to move the monitor away slightly for TV and closer for reading on the Internet. Both are very sharp and the amount of computer screen desktop space is impressive.

Newegg service, as always, was outstanding!

Cons: The monitor emits a large amount of heat (likely any HD monitor does) but it has required me to mount a fan over my shoulder to push this heat away from me while using. If you have an enclosed area of use and not air conditioned it might be difficult to deal with.

Samsung uses the exact same frequencies in the remote as their 63" DLP TV and since they are in line with each other in the same room the remote has to be shielded away to avoid controlling both at once. Likely this is not a common setup. I can find no provision to change the frequency of either.

Other Thoughts: In summary I am delighted with this purchase and have no reservations about recommending it to others.

1 out of 5 eggsI wish I could say good things about this monitor.

Pros: - Great looking monitor.
- Crystal Clear image quality.
- Very 'rich' looking monitor compared to my old Dell. (2005FPW)
- Enjoyed it a lot when it worked great.

Cons: - No Height adjustment.
- Cant tilt it forward much.
- Connecting the base to the monitor was scary. Need to use force to lock the base to the monitor.
- After the warranty expired, I started hearing an audible humming noise. I did't realise it was from the monitor since I didn't suspect it for a while. To fix this issue, I had to bump the brightness to 99-100% and the humming would go away. (I would have lived with this hassle until the next issue happened)
- The last straw came a few weeks back when the monitor started turning off by itself. Initially, if I powered it back on, it would stay on for say a few minutes. But recently, it only lasts for 3-4 seconds and it would turn off by itself.
- I have tried a different cables (DVI vs VGA),
- Windows XP PC, Ubuntu Laptop and Fedora PC.
- Different resolution settings instead of the max resolution.
No luck. I Called Samsung customer support. They quoted $50 to test it, $150 (or so) for out of warranty fee + shipping fee.

Other Thoughts: This is my first review of any product I have purchased.
It would have been acceptable if this product died say after 3-4 years. But not after 1 year!

Maybe it would work for you. But please review all Samsung LCD product reviews in general before buying this monitor. Most Samsung LCD products seem to be affected by this 'humming' issue and this auto turn off issue. My Dell from 2005 is still running great. I expected a better product from Samsung.

Another thing to keep in mind - Samsung provides 3 years warranty on certain monitors. But on this one there was only 1 year. That could explain a bit... So just watch out!

Hope this is useful to you guys.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat color

Pros: Great color. Truly beautiful screen. I liked the way buttons are on the side of the monitor to keep them hidden.

Cons: Screen went to blinking in and out after about 4 months. If it wasn't such a short time before this had happened i would have given 5 eggs. But maybe i just had bad luck with mine. Who knows.

Other Thoughts: I had another monitor and used it instead of sending back but yesterday it went down. So i called to see if this one was still in warranty. Turns out it just went out 31st of last month. Tech was very nice and even extended my warranty to cover this repair. I gave 1 egg just for that.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It looks very nice.

Cons: The screen is tilted to the right by a few centimeter possibly due to the supporting neck (factory installed) not inserted properly. The unevenness is rather small but it's obvious since it's a long wide screen monitor. I emailed newegg customer service to see if I should try to re-insert it myself. I was worry I might break it by accident - no reply.

Other Thoughts: One star for the design flaw and bad customer service.

2 out of 5 eggsLogevity nil

Pros: Great color reproduction, clarity, and great for gaming. DVI and VGA support.

Cons: Defective after 6 months. No height adjustment, no swivel.

Other Thoughts: I've had this monitor for about 6 months now and aside from the lack height adjustment I've thought the monitor was good. Not as great as view sonic but good.

Today it just bit the dust. I got a single vertical line of green pixels stuck. They show up even when the monitor is not connected to an output device (my PC). I've had dozens of monitors in my life and this is the first I've had this happen to. There is no way a quality product should have had this happen.

I talked to Samsung and they are going to replace it under warranty, but no advanced RMA process, so I'm back to an older 17" LCD in the mean time. What a black eye Samsung.

4 out of 5 eggsSamsung quality

Pros: Very good monitor. Very big monitor. Comes with DVI and D=Sub cables. Sweet picture

Cons: Samsung seems to have let the syncmasters fizzle out as far as features. I use to have a 940bw and I use to love the features on it. This series has a lot of the same features but hardly any of them work correctly if at all. Maybe it's just me or maybe it's Windows 7

Other Thoughts: I really do like the monitor but for the price I wish I would have just bought the 2343 BWX model

5 out of 5 eggsBIG SCREEN

Pros: Big!.. 1080P!!.. Samsung!!!.. Its 20000:1 contrast ratio.. to be completely serious tho it's a really great monitor and for a 23 in screen and 1080 p picture thats a great deal and price and it's Samsung which is probably one of the best screen you can get next to Sony

Cons: umm nothing really I would have loved a built in TV tuner but I knew it didn't have it before I bought it so I bought one at a local electronic store and its Great
